This was a hard book to not only rate but also review. I don't think I am going to read the other installments, which if I did, it would likely change the course of my review. This was a fast-paced read but I just really didn't love it. Sure, it was fun and sure there were some intense moments, but overall I didn't find myself caring about the characters or their stories. I didn't feel an intense need to go and read the other installments, which was a red flag for me. Normally, when I read the first book in an installment, I can't wait to finish so I can get onto the next one. In this case, I really don't care if I read them or not. But on the same token, I did enjoy the book as I read it, it just wasn't memorable. TBD on if I find myself reading the other installments.

This is the first Meredith Wild book I have ever read, and I really enjoyed it! It pulled me in from the very first page, and I read the whole thing voraciously. A very short, novella-type book - you could read the whole thing in one (very enjoyable) sitting with no problem. Not too much over-the-top romance, but enough to keep you wondering what's going to happen between the characters. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

This book makes me yearn for more, but alas, it is like a serial. I have to read the rest of the series to get any satisfaction. Tristan breaks my heart. He is tough and a badass, but he is just a shell of a man. I hope he stays alive long enough to let Isabel into his heart. I can’t wait for the rest of the story.

This is a story inside of a story, lots of suspense and intrigue. Tristan and Isabel share a past that only she remembers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

When your mark is the one individual from your past who holds your truths you protect her instead of kill her. Programmed to kill with a red ledger full of names Tristan is a man on a mission.

As I read I’m reminded of the Jason Bourne series. This has the same vibe of energy and suspense.
I got a teasing taste of this suspenseful story. It was fast paced with action and violence. This little taste is enough to warrant a need for more.

A very good introduction and beginning to what sounds like a very entertaining read.

Meredith made a comeback with this gem after the Hacker series. She just proved in my opinion that she isn't a one hit wonder in terms of being able to write complex characters and an adventurous story telling that have you wanting to read faster than your are able to. 5 stars Ms wild

“I’m incomplete. Still utterly broken. And he doesn’t have what it takes to put me back together.”

This book blew me away! I already have the next 2 books in the series downloaded. I have been a Meredith Wild fan, but this really put her higher on my fan list.

“...she’s graduated from a mark to the most fascinating person I’ve ever known.”

This book is filled with heartache, mystery, loss, fear, hope, betrayal and chemistry where you’d least expect it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book waiting for the other shoe to drop...not if, but when. My heart was racing the entire way through the book~yet I can’t wait to start on book 2 of the Red Ledger.

“I mean nothing to him, and I never will. I’m the key to a locked door. A means to an end. Nothing more.”

The plot is quite absurd.
The contract killer and the hit living in the same City yet in another life the most passionate lovers ever.
So much so Isabel has not been able to move on or give her heart to another man. She carries a torch for Tristan who despite their undeniable bond joined the military and six months in broke off their relationship.
Isabel knew nothing of what became of Tristan until she sees him one day some 6 years later in the street.
Trouble is Tristan has no memory of life before 3 years earlier when he came out of an enforced coma.
He has been shadowing Isabel for several days as she is his mark and apart from a feeling of familiarity was ready to carry out his mission.
He postpones wasting her, feeling here is a chance to find out his past and recover memories before his trauma. This book sets the scene for at least 5 more to follow and takes Tristan from a cold killer to a wanted man and Isabel from imminent death, to do or die situations daily.
I found the book a runaway train ride. It is compelling and ludicrously offbeat to drive the need to find out what is going on and why. So many questions.
Why is she a target?
Who wants her dead?
What happened to him to make him a gun for hire and a contract killer?
Who does he work for?
Why did they spilt up in the first place?
Too much sex for my taste. As out of place at times as songs can be in some musicals.
The question that I need answering is why chose him to kill his ex.?
Surely an asset of the value of Tristan would be protected from a past that could bring back memories.
Surely his employers whoever they may be, would have researched his former life. So to be selected to carry out a hit on your former lover unbeknown to your own knowledge is a few degrees of separation less than credible.
The author has wallpapered herself into a room I hope that she knows where the door is; cares about some of these questions and keeps the train on the tracks to avoid a train wreck.

Isabel has never gotten over her one true love.. She has tried for years to move on, but she just cannot seem to heal all that was broken when she lost Tristan. Through many twists, turns and surprises he is brought back into her life....

This is one of those books that start out in such an outrageously interesting way that you can't put it down. I find myself having to keep reading to see just how they will get out of the mess they are in and where the story is going next.
Tristan and Isabel's story is full of action and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Be prepared to be ready to buy the next book as soon as you finish because Ms. Wild kind of leaves us hanging.

Tristan, a hitman, has one more job: kill Isabel Foster. It’s just one more job like the ones he has been doing for the last six years since he left the army. Nothing new until Isabel recognizes him from a past he can’t remember.

Isabel has been mourning Tristan’s departure since the day he went to the army and ended things with her by using a letter. Six years later, she can’t believe her eyes when he’s standing right in front of her acting like he doesn’t remember her or their love. But it’s not acting. He lost his memory in his last mission in the army, so she’s now the only connection he has to his old life. That is, if he doesn’t kill her like he’s being paid for.

“She’s brand-new and familiar at once.”
Want me to be honest? Sell what you can so you can buy this series if you have to! This is nerve-racking-suspense, pure passion and real sexual tension, all in one series! This is not for lovey-doveys and is not exactly the kind of story to melt your heart (at least not in these first three books of the series). This is wild!

They’re running for their lives, escaping between bullets and threats! I’m loving this series! It is so freaking nerve-racking and unputdownable!

Let’s talk about the characters. Isabel is really nothing out of the ordinary, she’s an English teacher teaching in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Overall she’s a strong woman, fierce and completely in love with Tristan since they were teens.

But, the real gem of this book is Tristan, aka Red. He has no memory of his life before the army besides the nightmares he has about his mother’s death when he was a teen. Since the military, his job has been killing people whose names he gets from his boss through an anonymous chat. Basically, he’s rough, cold, dangerous but most of all broken. Note that, given his life and the fact that he has no memory of Isabel, at first he doesn’t act as a lover. Far from it actually. He’s still cold and distant with her, so don’t expect hearts and flowers for the time being. And much less love confessions, those are a rarity trust me.

The story is just amazing! His assignment to kill her, or better yet, the fact that he didn’t kill her when he was being paid for it is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to danger and action! They get involved in so many things, uncover so many secrets that you will lose your mind (or your sleep if you stay up at night reading this like I did!).

Side note: you have to read the books in order. Reborn is the first volume of the series that compiles part 1, 2 and 3 of the series.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is THE series of 2018. Danger, secrets, passion, and power! All compiled into the most perfect books that Meredith Wild has ever created! And these are just the first three books!

The Red Ledger has had many, many advertisements calling it one of the most exciting new books around. Well, it's true. I was skeptical but looking for a new series with a great hero. Red Ledger fills the bill plus has a great heroine too. The book is written in novellas, shorter reads that follow the main characters as they take you on adventure after adventure. Book 1 will hook you, no doubt about it.

Without a doubt, there is a lot of story packed into these pages. The story is interesting - improbable, yes, but interesting and full of suspense. There are a lot of twists and Isabel and Tristan share a past that only one of them can remember. If you're familiar with this author, then you know to expect steamy fun, so that was no surprise here. However, I did have a hard time buying that this pair had as much time for it as they did. Tristan shows little emotion, but I found it hard to believe that Isobel would be so wrapped up in finding him again that she would disregard the fact that they are running for their lives. Granted, the circumstances surrounding this one are all a bit over the top and a little Bourne Identity-ish, so I suppose it just depends on how much suspension of disbelief each reader is willing to exercise. That aside, I did enjoy the fast-pace and will probably check out the next book to see where it goes. It is the beginning of a serial, so expect a cliffhanger ending because things are certainly not tied up in a neat little bow on the last page.

This was a good Novella, the first part of The Red Ledger series. Isabel and Tristan know each other but Tristan doesn't remember Isabel, he only knows she is his next contract. He is putting off taking her out and when he finally decides the time is right, she says his name. He is not sure of who he is, but obviously Isabel knows. The only way he can find the answers is to keep her alive, and that means kidnapping her otherwise someone else will take his place and kill her.

Thoroughly enjoyed this first book and look forward to reading more of Isabel and Tristan's story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I absolutely fell in love with this book. I love the mystery and the sizzle between them! I can't wait to read more!

The Red Ledger Part 1 is the first book in a series, hence the name. I haven't heard very much about this book, and I stumbled across it. In its description, it does state its a Novella. This story has 11 chapters and I tore through them like a crazy person.

We meet Tristan, who was on a covert military mission gone wrong and he lost his memory but was given a second chance at life in the form of being a secret hit man for a high powered dangerous organization. He gets his assignments and performs the hit, and the name gets added to the Red Ledger.

Until he sees Isabel, his next intended hit. He doesn't know her, but she says his name and she could just be the key to all his missing memories.

This is an action packed roller coaster that I cannot get enough of and luckily there are more books in the Red Ledger Series. I highly recomend this book and do not be put off by the length of the book, it packs as big of a punch as a full length novel!

Ohhh cannot wait for more!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve read several books by Meredith Wild and I tend to gravitate to them because she is an amazing writer and fabulous storyteller. This novella is a perfect example of that.
This story is loaded with suspense, action, and the simmering heat between two people whose past explodes into the present. She packs a lot into this part one book with scenes that make your heart pound and catch you off-guard. Definitely a book that’s difficult to put down so make sure you block out the time to read it.
The only bad thing about this book is we have to wait for part two. I’m not great at waiting and I’m anxious to find out the rest of the story. Wild's foray into the action and romantic suspense genre is captivating and very hot. I can’t wait for the conclusion.
Tristan is a professional hit man who has no memory of four years of his life. His next hit is a woman named Isabel. He sneaks into her apt. one night, only to hear her calling his name. He is so shocked, he leaves. Isabel is wandering around Rio the next day when she sees Tristan, the love of her live who disappeared 8 years ago. She runs him down and, realizes that it is Tristan, only not the Tristan she knew. Tristan kidnaps Isabel, in order to see whether she can help him to remember those lost years only, the longer he spends with her, the more afraid he grows of what he might remember.
The tension between these two is explosive and heartbreaking.
I can't wait until the next book in this series!
