Since Starlight on the Palace Pier was recommended for Jill Mansell fans, I requested an arc. And indeed, Tracy Corbett has a similar style as Jill. We meet Becca, who is returning home after an accident (with a goat....), which has shattered her dreams of becoming a professional and famous dancer. Forced to rethink her goals in life, she is asked by her cousin Jodi to come working with her at The Starlight Playhouse as a dancing teacher.
Becca is hesitant to accept the position although she would love to work with her cousin. The Playhouse is owned by the mother of Tom, her high school crush and the one who crushed her heart. But since Tom isn't in Brighton, she accepts the position.
Jodi is delighted to have finally get a job. Since she has a history as a juvenile thief, nobody wanted to hire her. But now she has a chance at the Playhouse. However, when her boss has to take a sudden leave to try to get off her alcohol addiction, Jodi's faced with a lot of difficulties and a not very helpful staff. When Tom suddenly appears to try to take over management for the Playhouse, Jodi is determined to show him she has changed since their last encounters 12 years ago.
Tom hurries home to save the Playhouse from disaster, when his mother is admitted for her alcohol addiction. When he finds out his mother appointed Becca and Jodi as management during her absence, Tom is certain the alcohol has clouded her judgment. Last time he saw Jodi and Becca was when Becca was caught red handed while shoplifting. So, two juvenile delinquents will only create havoc. But while working together, Tom sees that both Becca and Jodi are trying to save the Playhouse from bankruptcy. Can it be that the girls are not what they seem? Or have they changed so much?
Find out for yourselves in this wonderful and funny read. A definite feel-good romance and absolute chicklit. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
