This author was so well recommended to me that I just HAD to see her writing style for myself. This book was wonderful! I was intrigued from the very beginning and hated every time I had to stop to do "household things". I would always pick it right back up after finishing. If you need a new author to try and you haven't come across Cathy Lamb before until now, please do so and you will NOT be disappointed!! Thank you for the chance to be able to read an advanced copy of this amazing book.

There is always something very special about Cathy Lamb's books, and her new book, The Man She Married, is no exception. Cathy has this amazing talent to write the most interesting characters you will ever read....they are loving, complicated, quirky, original, and, in this book, they are not at all what they seem to be on the outside. Cathy Lamb also has the ability to make me laugh out loud, so many times, with witty dialogue and situations that are funny.....even when the story is serious, even tragic, and tugging on your heartstrings. I'm going to share with you one of the funniest parts of the book...I could read it again and again, and laugh each time. While Natalie is trapped in a coma, one of her visitors is Rosie, the mother of her best friend. Here is Rosie's prayer for Natalie:
“I pray to the good Lord for you every day, Natalie,” Rosie says, a sob catching in her throat. “You are the daughter of my own sweet heart. I will pray for you right now, in fact, the Lord’s Prayer. Are you ready, dear? Our father who is an artist in heaven. Howell be thy name. His kingdom comes, his kingdom goes. On Earth you are to find your own heaven. Give us our daily bread and wine. Not too much wine. And lead us not in to temptation and deliver us from evil men. Amen.” She sighs. “Mary, mother of Jesus, get your feminist, woman-empowered self into this hospital and fix my Natalie, I’m tellin’ you. If you need help, grab Mother Teresa or grab a woman saint. Heck, grab all of the women saints, Mary, mother of Jesus, but do not grab my great-aunt Milly, as she was clearly the devil’s assistant here on Earth. Women unite! Thank you, Jesus.” * *

I received an E-ARC from NetGalley. This is not the first book I have read by Cathy Lamb, but I think it is my favorite. I related to every single character, and I love how the story came together. I highly recommend this one. I could not put it down.

I love Cathy Lamb's book and this is one of her best. I loved the characters, the plot, the location - I loved it all. It made me laugh and it made me cry and it taught me how life could be after brain damage and how difficult it is to recover.

Natalie is in love with her husband when she finds out that he is keeping a major secret from her. As she drives to work that morning, she is in a tragic car accident and ends up in a coma. The doctors don't think that she'll recover but her husband and father never leave her side. She can hear everything that is said while she is in her coma but is unable to respond. During this part of the book, we learn about her history, her best friends and her marriage to her husband. Once she wakes up, she goes into rehab with other people with brain damage where we meet a whole array of people with brain injuries. Natalie still can't remember what Zack's secret is but she knows there is a problem. Will she ever remember and will it affect her life with Zack?

If you like books with great characters, an intriguing plot, a few laughs and a lot of love - this is the book for you!

The Man She Married was a welcome surprise read! The book tells the story of a married couple, and the secrets we all keep hidden. I enjoyed that this subject was approached, and explored the different reasons for why these secrets exist, and why some try so hard to keep these secrets. It definitely made me think about life and the stories some hold near their hearts never to be exposed to others. You'll know right away that Natalie's husband isn't who she thinks he is, but you'll still feel the love and know he cares very deeply for her. Natalie herself will discover things about herself she never knew. But I also loved learning about the other characters and their interesting quirks. Some of these characters will only be in Natalie's life for a short time, but their presence adds bits of welcomed humor.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Although, I did feel parts of the book felt jagged. It seemed as though certain "scenes" were written in different times and spliced in. There were also areas where, although it was the author expressing her thoughts, seemed to overuse "I."

It is still a recommend read for those who like mystery, general fiction, or just want to forget their own secrets for awhile.

I absolutely loved the first half of this book! Told from the perspective of the heroine who can hear everything happening around her while she is in a coma! Descriptive and perceptive! Unfortunately, when the main character woke up, I enjoyed the book much less. I loved hearing about the relationship between the heroine and her mother. It was well developed and written. The heroines relationship with her husband however (the main plot of the book) was disappointing. She seems to go from strong, self reliant women to naive and clueless which was aggravating. I would have much preferred for her to maintain her strength and resilience as much with her husband. She would have been a better character for it, and it would have made the plot more interesting. The book wraps up in a neat and tidy ending which is always uplifting.

When you step inside a Cathy Lamb book you can hear the river running, see the stars above you and smell the wildflowers... you are transported into the story ! This amazing author has the ability to make you laugh and cry at the same time ! This is not the first book of hers I have read, nor will it be the last !
This is the story of Natalie and Zack and how well we know those we love and the things they hide to just survive !
Natalie discovers her husband is lying to her when she is in a car accident ( not an accident at all) ! Natalie suffers a Traumatic Brain Injury and we get to travel on her path to recovery and discovery !
This is such an incredible story of love, loss and resilience and I cannot recommend this book enough !

This is to all the Moonshine and Milky Way Maverick girls ( read the book) May we all have forever friends like these!

Now , I must go pack my bags as I am moving to Lake Joseph , so I can live with my new book girls !!

I was a bit skeptical when I realized this story involved someone in a coma. It seems as if that was a popular theme this year ( yet the authors would be unaware while writing!). I should have known Cathy Lamb would have a delicious spin. I loved the juxtaposition of time frames which gave me needed info to really appreciate Natalie’s relationships and situation. I especially enjoyed her relationship with Grandma Dixie. It gave me hope and comfort. Each of these characters was very well developed and were integral parts to the story. I laughed, I cried, I felt betrayed, and I rejoiced. Lots of life lessons here. I love it when I feel like I can be a better person from something I’ve learned in a story like this. This book will stay with me for quite awhile. #netgalley #cathylamb #kensingtonbooks

This may be my favorite Cathy Lamb book. I love her characters and how she is able to make them real for her readers. I always finish her books wishing I could be friends with them.

The Man She Married is wonderful! I loved it! I went into the story thinking I may not like Natalie's husband. I was concerned that he may have been evil in disguise. He proved himself time and time again even while Natalie knew he wasn't telling the whole truth. Natalie is so amazing and quite the fighter. She fought her way through a coma and a trauma brain injury. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed her friends, family, and other brain patients. I loved how Cathy mentioned characters from other books in this one. It was like catching up with old friends.

I highly recommend this book to everyone!!!

I receive an ARC of the this book from NetGalley and Kensington. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this wonderful book!!

Solid 3.5 stars

This book. So much potential, and an easy 4 stars for me ... until the end. Literally until the very end. It was very different than I expected. There was a lot more focus on Natalie's injuries and recovery than I expected; based on the description and the beginning of the book I assumed this was going to be heavy on the mystery surrounding Zach's past. So that was a surprise, but not an unwelcomed one. I enjoyed getting to know Natalie's character through her recovery and flashbacks to her childhood and family/friendships, and really liked all of the characters in the book, even Natalie's mom. Zach's past was woven into the storyline really well, and there was great past/present flow to the book. And then the end. Without posting spoilers, it was just too easy, too far-fetched, too ridiculous for me to handle, and I couldn't help but knock it down half a star (the ending was that bad for me). But, having said that, the first 90% of the book was great, and I would still absolutely recommend it (since I know there are plenty of people out there who could overlook the flaws in the ending)!

What a beautiful book. I could not have loved it more if I tried. A book about comebacks, the power of love and friendship and when those who let go of misconceptions or hidden truths truly become who they were meant to be.

This book starts out as a story of a woman finding out that “The Man She Married” has lied to her about his past. But, unlike so many others, there are multiple twists and turns that take the reader to a place that is far different from expectations.

Natalie learns about her husband’s lies and as she leaves her house in a fury, she is blindsided by a van. The result is a traumatic brain injury. Her initial locked in coma is followed by rehab, but unlike a fairy tale, she knows she will never regain her normal life.

The author manages to keep her sense of humor and stirs in relationships with friends and a very unusual mother.

The one true thing that remains is her love and faith in her husband Zack. At times, the reader wants to shake her and remind her of what happened as she is continually menaced.

Finally, she deals with the truth and Zack faces his past. Her brain injury changes life forever but there is fine closure.

"Relationships are complicated. People are complicated. Love is complicated."
I truly enjoyed every minute of this novel as I soaked it up in two days.
It is written with great detail and descriptions that forced me to turn the pages quickly.
The plot has a love story, murder mystery, and suspense. Add in some amazing friends and some dysfunctional characters and it is delightfully all woven into one fantastic book.
Who is the man that Natalie married? What secrets are hiding out there and can Natalie find them before they find her?
A great ten star novel! Just wow!

Thank you to Net Galley and Kensington Books for an e-ARC of this title. The book starts out at a fast pace, with Natalie learning her husband has lied about everything she knows about him. This past puts Natalie's life in jeopardy, and she will have to rethink and relearn everything she thought she understood. Natalie has a tight circle of friends and her dad to lean on, but her relationship with her mom is filled with bad history. There is the mystery of what turned her life upside down, but there is also a good background of friendship, marriage and your relationship with your parents. Some secrets will come back to haunt you and they have to be faced. I enjoyed this book. I had minor complaints, issues with Natalie mentioned way too much how hot her husband was. We get it. The name of her friendship group is also repeated many, many times. That said, I enjoyed the book and would highly recommend. it.

I just finished The Man She Married by Cathy Lamb. It's not the first book I've read by her, nor will it be the last. She has a wonderful way of reaching down into your soul and touching you as a person and reader. If you haven't read any of hers, you should correct that quickly!

The Man She Married was about trust, but so much more. There were secrets, the way those secrets make you beat yourself up and how relieved one feels when all the secrets hit the light of day. This book contains gentle lessons about self-esteem, the power and value of friendship, appreciating what you have and how very important families are no matter what makes up a particular family. I say gentle because the author doesn't beat you over the head with anything. It's soft and easy and before I knew it I was thinking, huh....pretty great way to get that point across Ms. Lamb.

I have a sister-in-law that suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and from seeing what she went through, I have to believe Cathy Lamb did some serious research into this subject. She wrote about various things people with a TBI suffer through honestly, with humor as a buffer and love surrounding all of that. I was glad to see it addressed in the way it was because so many have no idea what that entails. I also greatly respect authors that take the time to do their research. It shows a respect for the reader and the subject.

I can say that I fell in love with the small town of Lake Joseph and was happy to see a few characters from previous novels mentioned in this one. I can't recommend this story highly enough and urge you to read it. You'll be glad you did.

There is so much more to this book than "the man she married"; although that's the big part of it. Secrets kept for years by those you love, friendships that last a liftetime, a dad who every girl dreams of having as a protector, and a eccentric mom that makes you need a drink to spend time with! I loved the characters in this book. A really fun book with a great story.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC

Many thanks to Cathy Lamb and Kingston Books for the opportunity to read and review this book. I totally enjoyed this book from start to finish , both entertaining and engaging. While somewhat far fetched at times it was so nice to lose myself in the love of Zack and Natalie. Will look out for more by this author.

Imagine getting in a car accident and waking up in a coma not able to communicate but you can hear everything!!! Well unfortunately, that’s exactly where Natalie Shelton finds herself! As she fades in and out of consciousness, Natalie finds out her adoring husband is hiding things. Eventually regaining consciousness, Natalie has a lot of work ahead of her to rehabilitate her body/mind all the while trying to remember the accident and figure out what is going on with her husband!

After reading the description for The Man She Married, I couldn’t wait to dive in!! Cathy Lamb has done a great job with combining women’s fiction and mystery! I was on the hook from start to finish—I literally flew through this novel in record time because I needed answers!! I also enjoyed the supporting characters and their storylines, they added so much to the book! The Man She Married is a 4.5 star read that I recommend to everyone!!
