The Body in the Attic is the first in a new cozy mystery series by Judi Lynn. Jazzi, who is a house flipper, along with her cousin Jerod, have started work on a new house that was once owned by their Aunt Lynda’s boyfriend. In the process of clearing the house, the two cousins stumble upon a body in the attic. Tests later show that the body belongs to their Aunt Lynda. Jazzi, along with help from her family, tries to unravel what happened to her Aunt Lynda. Along with repairing the house and helping with the investigation, Jazzi find times to develop a love interest with her house contractor, Ansel.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Jazzi is a strong and unique character. For those of you that enjoy watching all the shows about house flipping, I think you will find this a fun read. You get invested in the progress of the house as the story moves along. You are able to watch as the characters develop strong and realistic bonds between them. The only problem I had with the characters is that I thought Jazzi let Ansel take over too much of the decision making. I would think that as a house flipper that she would have strong instincts about what would work. I still enjoyed the chemistry that builds between them though. I’m looking forward to meeting these characters again in the next book.

The mystery itself leaves many clues for the reader. However, you are left to second guess yourself with each new twist and turn in the investigation.

Wow, oh, wow, loved this book! Jazzi Sanders is a house flipper, along with her cousin Jarod. When they find a skeleton in a trunk in the attic of a recently purchased house, the action begins. This cozy starts out with a bang, and never slows down!!! Jazzi is a strong, sassy, delightful character, whose personality adds much to this exciting read. The family dynamics are so enjoyable, the mystery so exciting, and the romantic relationships just round out a real page Turner. Do yourself a favor, a read this. I'm already waiting for the next installment. Solid 5++++ stars.

New to me and a very good and quirky beginning for a new series. Love the combo of flipping houses and family history. Well done characters and plot. Enjoyed every bit of it. Looking forward to more.

As a first in a new series, this book book was well written and I liked the idea of the protagonist being a house flipper.
I think the cousins have colorful personalities that will work well in future books.

With two murders to solve one passed and once present .
Loved getting to know all the characters and enjoyed the family get together.
Good twist past and present,very enjoyable.
I wound definitely recommend this new book and look forward for Judi Lynn's next book .

This was a wonderful book - a cut above most other cozy mysteries with its wonderful family relationships and complex plot. Jazzi and her cousin Jerod, along with their contractor Ansel are house flippers and have bought the house of recently deceased family friend Cal who was the fiance of Jazzi's Aunt Lynda who disappeared years ago. When cleaning out the house they find that Lynda did not run away as they thought but was killed and buried in a trunk in the attic. Lynda had lied to them previously when she went to New York not to take a glamorous job but instead to have a baby and give it up for adoption. It turns out that Cal had found the boy and he was coming to River Bluffs to meet him but never showed up. Then Jerod finds the body buried in the back yard and the past and present merge in heartbreaking fashion. I loved Jazzi's family relationships, I loved the details about refinishing the house, I was hooked by the plot and can't wait to see a sequel.
