This book was borderline-terrible. The love "triangle" seemed contrived and at least half the time, I didn't want Marge to be with either the disinterested long-term guy or the high school crush who came on wayyyyy too strong after so many years apart. Meh.

Marge had a little time and got out of the car and told Luke her driver she would walk the rest of the way to the restaurant. Marge had just slipped out of the day’s tightly packed schedule and found a little escape time just for herself. This didn’t happen often. She really needed just a small escape - get away from her mental to do list. Marge looked around to where she was. A city street- somewhere in the Village. Small shops, some brownstones, people just quietly going about their business. Babies in strollers. Dogs being walked. Teenagers falling in love. A city street. Always a treat. Better than any tv rerun…. For variety, humanity, action, the potential for drama, a laugh, something new. Then marge thought about how Dr. Diaz said she had to ease up a little. As she was working to hard. Marge would never let anyone know, but it was beginning to worry her. Carrying it all on her shoulders. She was feeling the stress. She was seeing the signs of overwork, the wound up overdrive of her thoughts that kept her from falling to sleep at night. The little wrinkles forming at her lips. The need for concealer under her eyes. But who would run the magazine Lady Fair as well as Marge herself who was the Editor In Chief? Jerry was Marge’s boyfriend who was a lawyer and the had been in a relationship for six years. They both had the own places to live. Jerry had proposed to Marge two times but she had not said yes yet. Bridey was Marge’s friend as well as they worked together. Bridey and Marge had talked about taking a few days off together- a girls getaway. Bridey’s husband Mark could take care of the kids. As Marge was waiting for Jerry outside the courtroom - they were going to a baseball game together- Marge’s HS crush- Sam- came up to her and they started chatting but then when Jerry came out of the courtroom he said they were on opposite sides of this current case. Then it was Fashion Week in Milan which took Marge to Italy for four days followed immediately by the shows in Paris, days that were a dawn to midnight frenzy of activity. On her return to NYC there were people to hire, others to fire, production problems, legal matters to review, and a contract dispute with the company that ran the employees cafeteria. There were interviews to give, TV appearances to be fulfilled, red carpet events, and social engagements. Everyone wanted Marge’s attention and time. Marge had never been known to lose her temper and she always brought everyone through their emotional eruptions with a light touch and a gentle but firm solution that allowed them to remember they were grown ups.Marge had an eagle eye for trouble and words of wisdom for everyone. Marge was at the Crackerbox launch and she felt herself go faint but there was a hassock like seat that she dropped into and Penny noticed her problem and immediately came to Marge to help. Marge told Penny to get her out of there. Dr. Diaz had been marge’s personal doctor for the last seven years. Marge decided to take the time Dr. Diaz ordered her to take as she desperately needed it. Marge decided the first couple of days her and Bridey would get away to the Cape then she wouldn’t let anyone know where she was and only leave an emergency number to call for several weeks. Then marge went to London after being at the Cape but not the popular sites and places where she would be recognized. She did a lot of walking, one day she stopped to listen to a speech but then people starting getting angry and fighting and marge couldn’t find a way out of the crowd. Then she felt a hand start to pull her away from the danger and it was Sam.
I had mixed feelings on this book although I did enjoy it i would never read it again. It dragged for me in places. I wondered why marge didn’t figure out Jerry wasn’t the one who would make her truly happy after six years and two proposes she hadn’t accepted and not willing to take the next step. As far as i can see Jerry was more of a convenience for Marge. I really liked Sam and Marge together, how they enjoyed life together and each other. I loved how they interacted with each other. But I got a little annoyed Marge didn’t let Jerry go sooner then she did Sam ended up talking to Jerry. I did have some of a problem keeping my attention on the story bit I did finish it. I was happy i did finish this again I just wouldn’t read it again. As I said I had mixed feelings for this book.

I knew who I would choose before Marge did. That probably isn't a surprise to those who read this genre but Bronston has created several good characters in Marge, Sam, and Jerry. She's a workaholic who just needs time to breathe and to figure out what to do about her life so she takes off to Europe. You won't get a sense of her time there but this is a light quick read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

Marge is a highly successful fashion magazine editor, the only person in the company, apparently, who can trouble-soot or problem-solve. Everything depends on her. She has a loosely attached boyfriend of six years, Jerry, who's some kind of hot-shot lawyer. And then Sam reappears from her past and she's thrown into a personal spin. On top of that, she's on the verge of a breakdown caused by overwork and her GP insists she take a break. So off she jets to Europe incognito without telling her employer she's ill or Jerry where she's going. By this point I'd had enough of the set-up and was looking for some plot or character development. But no. Nothing happens. In the end she goes back to New York, chooses a man and resumes her working life. The author clearly wants us to like Marge but I couldn't drum up the will to care one way or the other.

I'm sad I feel this way about the book because I think there was scope for a good story here and I enjoyed the set-up. But in the end there's just not enough plot or characterisation.
