I had a hard time getting through this book. There was so much whining and complaining and the chemistry felt forced to me on this one. I have enjoyed other books in the Mayflower series but this one isn't one of them, unfortunately.

Emaline Baratt is a character who shows great courage in a very difficult situation. She also struggles with the right and wrong of it. Owen Masters just wants information and to go home. It’s a great tale and reminder of what our ancestors endured. I enjoyed this adventure. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. All views stated here are my own.

I have not read this yet, as I am reading them in order. I have no fear that this will be an excellent book because she is a wonderful author.

This is an incredible historical romance!

I love both Owen and Emeline. They are very well developed. They both have very painful memories of their fathers. These have formed their view of God.

Throughout this book they each have strong believers that are doing all they can to help them learn to trust God and rely on Him. I loved their separate journeys and how they intersect at various times.

This author has a marvelous talent for writing pirate and privateer stories. This book doesn’t disappoint in this aspect. She has included plenty of action to keep the excitement level up. Her description of sailing vessels and all things involved in sailing in the early 1800s is fantastic.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

It is quite lovely addition to "Daughters of the Mayflower", Christian historical fiction series. The main character of "The Liberty Bride" is Emeline Baratt, an artist at heart, who loves painting and secretly longs for adventure (don't we all?).

The novel takes place in August 1814 when England and America are at war. During voyage by a privateer's ship from England to Boston, Emeline is captured by English warship. She is considered a prisoner of the Crown, so to help other prisoners and facilitate her own escape, she decides to pretend that she is loyal to England and become a spy. She has no idea there is another American spy very close to her, that watches her every move and despises her for betraying her country...

First Lieutenant Owen Masters just waits for an opportunity to steal valuable information from the British and escape from hated service. He wants to fight for the American cause, but for the moment he has to pretend and lie. He is fascinated by Emeline, her courage and beauty, but of course he is determined to stay away from her. Not such luck, they are both send on a dangerous mission, that could mean the destruction of American resistance. What makes everything even more dangerous is that they are still not sure about each other's loyalties.

Emeline and Owen need to learn the importance of trust and that sometimes an enemy can be an ally in disguise. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

I received "The Liberty Bride" from the publisher via NetGalley. I would like to thank the author and the publisher for providing me with the advance reader copy of the book.

Taking readers to the seas, ships, and shores of the War of 1812, Tyndall weaves a romantic tale of espionage and intrigue that will keep readers guessing. Emeline and Owen are both layered characters with backstories to unpack, faith to wrestle with, and secrets to maintain, though Owen may take longer to warm up to for some readers. Emeline’s kind heart and inner strength in the midst of the horrors of war are a highlight of the story, as is the nearly-tangible romantic chemistry between hero and heroine. Divided loyalties - at least outwardly - complicate their growing feelings for each other and add further dimension to their relationship. Tyndall doesn’t shy away from the harsh reality of the war or the truth of history, yet she also makes sure to wrap it all in hope, love, grace, and an incredibly touching example of deeply personal faith.

The Liberty Bride was an inviting way to learn a little more history while enjoying a good book. I loved how the author wove historical tidbits throughout.

Emmeline Baratt is returning home to America from England when her ship is taken over by a British warship. She her best to stay neutral while serving as a nurse to the crew.

Lt. Owen Masters serves in the British Navy, his uncle has asks him to work as a spy. He admires the beautiful Emmeline who helps by using some of her medical knowledge to work as a nurse.

Owen and Emmeline initially have a combative relationship, as they are on opposite sides of the conflict. He is protective of Emmeline, and while not pristine in character he has a close friend who encourage him to take a closer look at his faith.

Emmeline is forced to make choices as to where her loyalties lie, with her country or with her heart. She grows in her faith, and shows courage in the face of touch situation, not knowing who to trust. He best friend, Hannah, encourages her in her faith and stands by her, serving as an excellent support.

An action packed read set amongst the political tension of the war of 1812, good tension and strong characters that are more relatable in their flaws. Engaging storyline, with excellent themes of faith and loyalty. Neither Owen or Emmeline know who to trust, and hold to their values despite growing attraction. Entertaining, with a great tension filled, suspenseful ending. Good interaction between the characters, as well as development. A great addition to this fun historical series.

Emeline Baratt boards a ship to return home to Maryland. What begins as an ordinary trip suddenly changes into a life altering journey. Emeline never expected to have to choose between countries and loyalties. Her character is exactly what I enjoy reading. She's flawed yet finds strength to survive. She develops deep friendships and determination that move the plot along nicely.

This is the 6th book in the "Daughters of the Mayflower" series. I've read all of them so far and will continue to read them. Even though you don't have to read these books in order,it is interesting to do so because they are written in historical sequence. The first book, The Mayflower Bride, took place in 1620 and focused on the voyage of the Mayflower. This 6th book, The Liberty Bride takes place in 1812 during the War of 1812.

The faith content is the right amount for those who understand that this is a Christian fiction. We read them because we want the faith content. There was one scene in The Liberty Bride that I almost couldn't bare reading. It was well written, but I have a great imagination and could picture it in my mind as way more than was written. At this point I was thankful for the Christian content. If you aren't a fan of Christian or haven't read one, I hope you give this a try. It's a great story of the what if's. After all, as the saying goes, anything can happen in love and war.

I enjoyed this book as much as I have the first six. Every book has kept my interest and has swept me into new adventures. I can't say enough how surprised I am that a series of books has kept my attention. There are few series that I read and this one is a wonderful exception.

I reccomend this book to historical fiction lovers as well as readers of adventuresome romance.

So far this action-packed book is my favorite of the Daughters of the Mayflower series. Set during 1814, Emeline Baratt is returning to Baltimore aboard the Charlotte after staying with her great aunt in England. Her ship is overtaken by the British HMS Marauder and Emeline soon finds herself a prisoner. She quickly fakes loyalty to Great Britain and also finds herself butting heads with Lieutenant Owen Masters who unbeknownst to her is also an American spy. The most exciting parts of this novel are when the plot moves to land and Emeline finds herself amidst the battle for Baltimore at Fort McHenry (a key battle in the War of 1812.) It's no surprise that Owen finds himself drawn to Emeline not only because of her beauty but because of her compassionate heart (to both Americans and the British people she meets.) There are quite a few tense moments in the book because both Emeline and Owen are unaware of each other's allegiance to America. As they get to know each other, they also find out how they can have a relationship with God without feeling like they are obeying a list of rules. One of my favorite quotes is: "being adventurous did not mean she wasn't following God, that in Him was true freedom . . . God was all about freedom." I'm glad that I was given the freedom to read this book from NetGalley and Barbour Publishing. All thoughts expressed are my honest opinions of the book.

I'm really enjoying this historical series - great historical information in addition to sweet romance. Emeline and Owen and drawn to each other, but neither dares to trust the other. Great plot kept the story moving and engaging.

*Thank you to Netgalley and Barbour publishing for this free copy in exchange for an honest review*

Having read at least 5 (or maybe it’s 6...) books in this series, I’m not sure what’s happened out how but each of these writers has separately and jointly accomplished something amazing. These books are full of heart, love, and some headstrong leads.

This is the first one by Miss Tyndall and I rather enjoyed it! Emeline faces difficult decisions and always falls back on her faith to get her through.

The Liberty Bride continues the Daughters of the Mayflower series which has different authors doing the stories. They have all been great so far. In this story, Emeline Barratt finds herself unwittingly becoming an American spy on a British Royal Navy ship. She has always been an adventurous lady and a breaker of rules; but, now, she feels God is punishing her and she is trying hard to keep the rules. Yet, she is called on to lie and deny even her best friend for the cause of her country after her father's ship is attacked by a Royal Navy ship and the crew and she captured..

Lieutenant Owen Masters serves aboard the Marauder. He intrigues Emeline but his kindness and extra attention turn cold, oddly, when she pledges allegiance to the crown. He is the favorite officer of the Captain, loyal to the crown as well, isn't he?

Unknown to Emeline, Owen, has these past eight years served on the Marauder at the behest of his uncle who heads the department of the Navy for the Americans--serving as an American spy. Both he and Emeline are horrified when the British attack and take Washington D.C. as they both watch helplessly from the Marauder's deck. Neither aware of the other's feelings.

Then the Captain, assured of Emeline's loyalties sends her accompanied by Owen and two other men to shore to extract information before the British attack Emeline's home, Baltimore; but both Emeline and Owen want to get information to the Patriots. However, one of the men accompanying them is certain that Owen is a traitor to the British cause. Things are even more complicated for Owen and Emeline as they are drawn to each other but fear the other is a traitor to their country. This is a page turner and well worth your time to read. Thanks to Barbour Publishing for allowing me to read this ebook from Netgalley.

The sixth book in the multi-author Daughters of the Mayflower novels from Barbour Books has just swooped in and stolen the prize for the most fun and entertaining read of the series. American privateers, British Naval officers, spies, a nemesis and one clever young American woman all add up to a War of 1812 romp with a bit of a darker side.

Set during the War of 1812, and reminiscent of some of the best period movies depicting that time, this story immediately immerses the reader in the world of a British naval vessel in war time. The nuanced portrayal that emerges of a grandfatherly gentleman who easily slips into the role of a brutal captain doling out cruel punishments lent a great deal to the story, as did the seemingly gentile and almost sympathetic but utterly despicable officer who quickly became the hero’s, and the heroine’s, nemesis.

Emeline Baratt is led by her patriotism and loyalty to the privateers of her father’s ship to declare allegiance to England after they are taken captive. Her deception and attraction to First Lieutenant Owen Masters becomes ever more complicated as they are put ashore to exploit her ties in Baltimore to spy for the British.

Filled with peril, intrigue, romance, but not neglecting the deplorable acts of war, this is a fast paced, action filled story that will keep you wanting to read more. And if that weren’t enough, it addresses issues, among others, of loyalty, faith, and the sometimes difficult reconciliation of the two.

If you are in the mood for a rollicking good read with it’s share of more somber moments, then this novel is the one!

The story of Emaline and Owen is about how people who are hiding something and find each other through finding their trust in God again.

It was a bit too Christian for me.

It is the war of 1812 and Emeline is on her father's ship returning to Maryland when the ship is taken over by the British. She leads them to believe she is really supporting the British and not the Americans. After all she has been living in England. Owen Masters is an officer on the British ship and there to spy for America. He is not sure what to make of Emeline. She convinces the captain to send her ashore to learn the battle plans of the American army. They go through many adventures and she & Owen find their way to God and His help to do what they need to do to save their country.

Lieutenant Owen Masters was an American spy on a British Naval warship that is off the coast of America in 1812. He had worked his way up the ranks and now was an officer in the Royal British Navy. His plan was to find out the British military plans and jump ship to deliver those plans to his uncle in Washington to help America win the war.

Emeline Baratt was returning home to America abroad one of her father's privateer's ships when it was captured by a British war ship. She was able to convince the captain that she was loyal to England and not America. But, not everyone is convinced of her loyalties. She was immediately repulsed by Lieutenant Masters but as she spent more time around him, she realized he had a kind heart and she wasn't convinced that he was as loyal to England as he claimed, but she couldn't risk letting him know her plans . . . or could she?

I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed each and every one. This one is no exception. She writes the story in great detail and the characters are well developed. There is suspense, drama, romance and love and a smattering of Christian beliefs. The story is a clean romance but not without difficulties and real life consequences.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

The Liberty Bride is an intriguing story of espionage, patriotism, and faith. It is the 6th book in the Daughters of the Mayflower series, but it can be read as a stand alone novel. On the high seas during the War of 1812, American Emaline Baratt finds herself taken captive on a British ship. She and Lieutenant Owen Masters are sent on American soil to gather intel for the British. Even with such a dangerous mission, there is also an opportunity for romance. Readers of historical fiction will enjoy this latest book in the Daughters of the Mayflower series.

I am reviewing a copy of The Liberty Bride through Barbour Books and Netgalley:

In 1812 A trip home from England to Maryland finds Emeline Baratt a captive on a warship and she was forced to declare her allegiance between the British and the Americans.

She finds that remaining politically neutral on a ship that is in desperate need of her nursing skills is pretty easy. That is until she starts to develop feelings for the first lieutenant who becomes her protector. When the captain sends Lieutenant Owen Masters on land to spy, Emeline finds herself struggling to choose between love and country.

I give The Liberty Bride five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!
