I loved this collection. Full of fun adventures and romance. Some were filled with humor others a bit more mystery.

My favorite one in the collection is MissTaken Identity by Kimberly Woodhouse. Abigail a spitfire and full of sarcasm, who ends up getting arrested by a charming Texas Ranger. That is only the start of her trouble.

A great group of novella's that are well worth the read.

One of the many things I love about these novella collections is that when my review schedule is overloaded (as it’s seemed to be these past couple months), I can sit and read on novella in an evening then come back to the next one as I have the time (which is how I am currently going through the Miss Adventure Brides Collection).

These stories are about headstrong women who ignore the social expectations of their era and maybe get themselves in a little bit of trouble.

In Kimberley Woodhouse’s MissTaken Identity, Abigail sets out to travel and explore the world. But the way she does it is a bit…ahem…unconventional. And when she ends up stuck in a jail cell, complaining about her conditions unlike any man Texas Ranger Jim Williams has dealt with before. There’s just something about this prisoner that’s got him questioning what’s going on.

With a good amount of humor as Abigail continues to do her disguise and the mystery of who is behind the framing of Abigail, this story is entertaining and well-paced. Although I have not read the entire collection, I know MissTaken Identity is sure to be one of my favorites.

Raising llamas may not be woman’s job but it’s what Maddy Williams knows and loves. Her beloved pack are her friends, and she has no interest in loaning any of them to the Denver zoo for exhibit. When a young man arrives to change her mind, her intentions aren’t quite as clear.

I feel like the description of this novella is a bit misleading for a couple reason. First (and this may just be me reading into it), Maddy and Harry do not already know each other. They meet for the first time in this story. And then, there really was no strict, by-the-book side of Harry. Yes, he cares about the animals and wants to give them a good environment at the zoo, but he and Maddy don’t argue about the way things should be with the animals.

That said, this is a fun little story with a lovesick llama, a woman who speaks before she thinks, and a man on a mission to bring some new animals to his beloved zoo. I would have loved to get some more background on Maddy’s relationship with her parents just because there seems to be a lot to unpack there, but the attraction and budding romance between Maddy and Harry is sweet and enjoyable.

Although I am still reading this collection of novellas, I must say I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Of the two novellas I’ve read this far, Misstaken Identity by Kimberly Woodhouse and Lessons of Love by Cynthia Hickey, my focus in this review, currently, is Misstaken Identity by Kimberly Woodhouse.

Humor, the thread tying the novellas together, is humor. Based on 7 young women who determine to not allow the basic norms of their eras hold them back, each story will have the reader chuckling.
Kimberly Woodhouse penned just such a story.

Abigail Monroe has determined to travel, by herself, dressed as a young boy. Without escort, Abigail boards the stagecoach for Colorado only to find herself in Texas! It seems her adventure begins with boarding the wrong stage coach, with some rather gnarly appearing and terribly rank men. Upon reaching Colorado, er, Texas, Abigail disembarks and begins to walk through town, she soon realizes that one, her baggage is heavier than she thought it would be, and two, she doesn’t exactly walk like a man, something she sets about rectifying immediately.

As Abigail adjusts her stride, numerous times, while wrestling her baggage down the street, she is surprised to find a Texas Ranger approaching her, only to arrest her! For cutting wires erected around the fields owned by sheepherders, no less! Shocked, she tries to explain she literally just got off the stage minutes ago, the lawman is not deterred. Escorting Abigail to the town jail, the lawman finds his prisoner to be a bit strange. From the overly large hat, to the young smooth complexion to the funny way the young “man” walked, the Texas Ranger is determined to get to the bottom of who is causing trouble in his town and that young fella sure does have perfect posture!

These Seven stories of Strong Women, facing tough circumstances with courage, faith and the hand of God guiding them will warm your heart, brighten your day and provide a small reminder to look for Gods hand even in the darkest of times.

This review is only for “MissTaken Identity” by Kimberley Woodhouse from this MissAdventure Brides Collection.
This novella is the first of Kimberley Woodhouse’s writing that I have read and I’ll definitely be reading more of her books in the future. Her writing style is easy to follow, the plot is fun and well-paced, and her characters are memorable.
This “mis”-adventurous story brings to life Abigail, aka Chuck, who dresses like a man to travel freely without an escort. She’s a wealthy single rancher who can’t seem to find a man interested in her for who she is and not just for the land or money. Abigail is accident-prone and a bit flighty; she runs headlong into situations without thinking through her actions or consequences and tends to attract trouble but is so lovable. Jim is a responsible and thoughtful Texas Ranger who gets involved in “Chuck’s” life when Chuck is accused of vandalism and arrested. There is intrigue and suspense as Jim and Abigail try to figure out who has a vendetta against “Chuck”.

This novella is a fun and fast read. Anyone who enjoys historical romance will enjoy this story and the entire collection.

I really enjoyed this collection! These stories were so unique! Kimberley Woodhouse’s story was my favorite! It is nice to read a collection about strong women that don’t let social norms hold them back. I think there’s a good message for readers to take away from this book. I would recommend this book for readers of any genre. This made me want to check out these authors and their other books.

I occasionally enjoy collections like this one because you get a full length story and can go onto another one or do other things that need your attention. I also like finding new to me authors which I did in this book.

I was more than interested in this collection as soon as I saw the cover and the authors who contributed to The MISSadventure Brides. I knew it would have sweet stories that would be relaxing and fun to read.

There are bound to be a few favorites when reading a collection like this and I did have some. I have to admit that my favorite was penned by Kimberly Woodhouse. I started reading her work awhile back and have always found her style of writing fantastic and her characters some of the best I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
Overall, there is something for everyone in this book including romance, adventures and brave protagonists that will bring you some laughter.

Seven stories of daring women

With authors like Mary Davis and Kimberley Woodhouse, I knew I had to grab this collection. I’m glad I did because I was introduced to some new authors whose works I would like to read more of.

One of my very favorites from the collection is Zola’s Cross-Country Adventure by Mary Davis. At first, I was afraid that it was going to be a little like The Great Race but I should have known better. (Not that I don’t enjoy the movie!) Though the story takes place around the same time period, the story was very different. I loved the way that Zola and her cousin spent a year learning everything they could about the car they would be driving cross-country so they could handle anything that arose on their journey. The combination of their faith and their spunk made for a delightful adventure.

The rating I gave this collection is according to the highest rated stories. There are two that I would give five stars. In full disclosure, there was one of the stories in the collection that I did not like. The plot was decent – I just did not care for the writing style and the way it was executed. Don’t let that discourage you from reading more. There are many good stories in here, so if you encounter one you don’t like, skip it and move on to the next.

I really enjoyed certain novellas in this collection, MISStaken Identity and Lessons of Love being two of them. The characters are endearing and genuine, and provide the reader with humorous stories. As with every collection, there are particular stories that pique the reader’s attention more than others. MISSadventure Brides is a fun collection that contains plot twists, solid, Biblical lessons on revenge and forgiveness, and the importance of honesty.

This has to be one of the best story collections ever! Each story is written by a great author. The ladies in these stories show ingenuity and courage, even when the complex situation they find themselves in was of their own making. There’s some light-hearted laughs throughout these stories as well as some suspenseful moments. Every story was well-written and seemed complete. I never felt as if the endings were rushed. As I write this review, it’s during a holiday season. and I’m finding the length of these stories are perfect for those moments when I have time to read something that’s a little shorter than a regular-length novel.

How to pick a favorite story? It’s hard to do, but I loved “MissTaken Idenity” by Kimberly Woodhouse. Abigail made me laugh, and her personality was fiery and funny. Jim was the perfect hero for her. I’d love to read another book about them and Abigail’s misadventures.
However, every heroine has her time to shine in this fun collection of stories.

The MISSadventure Brides Collection: 7 Daring Damsels Don’t Let the Norms of Their Eras Hold Them Back

Usually Barbour Publishing will gather the best of the best for their collections. The time era begins in the 1800s and goes to the Great Depression. Some of these novellas do not have the same quality of writing that the others do. Overall, the average would be a four-star book.

One of the "misses" goes fur trapping in light of her father's death. Another raises llamas in spite of her father's objections, still another goes on a cross-country road trip after learning to take down and put a car back together again. Regardless of what society thinks is right, these seven girls find themselves embarked on adventures with pitfalls and pratfalls to entertain the most jaded reader.

Readers will find romance, mystery, adventure, and lots of entertaining humor. It's worth the time to read the ones you like, and cherry-pick through the rest of them.

This compilation of seven historical fiction Christian romance stories is so much fun! I loved the sass and spunk of the main characters in each short story. I have never read most of these authors. However, that is changing immediately.
If I had to pick a favorite story or two, it would be difficult, but I would have to say Detours of the Heart by Donna Schlachter set in 1925 New Mexico and Lessons of Love by Cynthia Hickey set in 1886 Arkansas would be my top choice. Both books are entirely different from one another with Lessons in Love is a quite humorous look at a woman’s life trying to teach in a rural Arkansas community andDetours Of The Heart is the tale of a woman thrown out of her home for refusing to marry a man she did not love and desperately wanting to make her way to Hollywood.

I highly recommend this book!

This collection of stories was a pleasure to read. The ladies in each story have qualities that we can all relate to. I wasn't reading about perfect people living storybook lives. I was reading adventures of regular girls. I originally read it because one of my favorite authors (Kimberley Woodhouse) is included. I loved each of the stories though. It is a great addition to my book collection. Go ahead and order your copy. You'll enjoy it too, I'm sure!

I love the novella collections. I like reading short stories that make my heart light. There are 7 stories in this book. Some of the stories I like and some I did not like. That is the beauty of a novella collection. I get to try out new authors without reading a 15 hour long book. I loved that the authors remained true to the time period in which they wrote. My favorite story was Maddy's Llamas by Marjorie Vawter. I hope you read this compilation.

This was a step back in time , each and every story expressed what it was like to be a woman in that time frame. Marriage was essential not only for companionship but for safety.

I loved these stories, every single one! They were so sweet, some very funny as well. Loved their "Miss"adventures which made the book's title very appropriate. Each of the stories was unique and different.

There were some new authors for me and I found that quite refreshing to read a new writing style.

Very good compilation of stories and a great way to spend my reading time!

A very enjoyable, relaxing read! Perfect to finish a trying day with:-) I really enjoyed Kimberley Woodhouse's sweet & sassy heroine in a MISSTaken Bride. She didn't disappoint with this short novella. I finished the MISSTaken Bride with a smile on my face. If you are looking for some nontypical heroines & heros, read the Missadventure Brides Collection. In the MISSTaken Bride, Kimberly takes a "typical" Texas Ranger story, & writes with a refreshing twist.

I’ve read a number of these novella collections from Barbour, and they never fail to delight. Overall, I like that the stories are short, so I can fit them into my busy schedule. Yes, there’s some predictability to the stories (the title even mentions that they are all “bride” stories), but that doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the tales.

This collection has seven stories which take place in the West between 1832-1936, and they are included in a chronological order. All the heroines were strong, independent women, which is always a plus 😊 Some stories are a bit on the serious side, while others have more humor or mystery, but all are well-written with development appropriate for the length (novella).

My favorite stories included:

• “MissTaken Identity” by Kimberly Woodhouse (This was an enjoyable tale with a determined heroine who is looking for an adventure … and she finds it!)
• “Lessons of Love” (As a former teacher, I couldn’t help root for the feisty heroine/teacher.)
• “Maddy’s Llamas” (Llamas! What more can I say. So much fun in this story!)

The MISSAdventure Brides Collection by various authors is a wonderful collection of seven realistic and funny misadventures. The first story begins in 1832 and the last one in 1936 so there is a wide range of time frame for the reader and characters.
Each of the seven stories is unique and could be read in any order. The women are all pioneers for their time but their adventurous spirits can get them into embarrassing or dangerous situations that require some assistance from others. Will any man want to be associated with, yet alone married to, any of these brides?
God is always with us and with each of these very adventurous women. At times the stories are just laugh out funny as the women dream up ways to show others how independent and tough they can be. I enjoyed every moment of reading this book and believe everyone will. The stories acknowledge God is always there but not in a preachy way. I give this book 5 of 5 stars and recommend it to everyone.

Each story brought a different scenario of how women over time showed bravery, courage, and strength. Although they are all fiction it is inspiring know that women truly did face and overcome similar scenarios.
