Ehhhh... this book was just kind of ehhhh. Not bad- but not really good either. I didn’t like Kayla- she was honestly just snarky and obnoxious in my opinion. She did have funny and good repor with Greyson. Greyson was a bit more my kind of character, but still not saving enough for me to really like this book.

An easy read, with characters you wanted to believe would get their happy ending. Nothing earth-shattering or groundbreaking in the storyline, but enjoyable overall

The story itself is nice and a pleasure to follow, but the writing would have needed some more editing to make it sound more like the product of an American native speaker. It somehow lacked courage and spark and modern slang, which is what I look for in a contemporary romance in English. A good romance that could have been better.

I really enjoyed this, I'd been in a bit of a reading slump and needed something as a pick me up, I don't think I've laughed this much at a book for a long time, I really did enjoy it and the characters were EVERYTHING

researching about shale gas. Shes expecting to hate it - its where her cool Aunt Jill lives, but she is in her 80’s! Other than that, the twon has nothing going on. She doesn’t expect to love the town, make new friends, or fall in love....but she does and when sh’s called back to New York she doesnt exactly want to go rushing back.

Such a cute fish out of water story! I loved it and laughed out loud several times. Highly recommend.

This is one of the most refreshing romantic comedies that I have read this year! There are more than a few "laugh out loud" moments involving Kayla David and the mayor of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Grayson Moir as Kayla does her best to navigate and fit into small town life after New York City. Somehow and despite their differences, Kayla and Grayson compliment each other and we're cheering them on!

I was very excited about this one and thought it sounded fantastic, unfortunately, it just wasn't that good. Greyson seemed a bit intriguing, but about 35% into the novel I still couldn't find any positive qualities in Kayla. She thought so highly of herself that I couldn't look past it. I've seen some really great reviews of this so I may try it again another time, but after three attempts this week I had to give up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this funny and warm romance. The mix of two such different characters and them slowly finding their way to a relationship is a joy to read and follow. The supporting cast of characters are given the same care and attention as the main players which makes for a high quality book.

What's Love Got to Do with It is a romantic comedy about Kayla thirty and something years old a city girl from New York. She is a columnist spending time writing about a nightlife in New York contributing in it and telling the story from a firsthand. 

Her boss sends her on a cover assignment in Arkansas. Kayla is devastated but she must obey and spend a few months in the small town where everyone knows each other and where aren't cocktails. What she would do? 

Day by day, the citizens of the town and their mayor will make miracle and chaos in her life.

Anna Premoli's writing style is almost the same as Sophie Kinsella funny, exciting and passionate with some explicit sex scenes.

Some funny moment on the first page, I laugh out loud and I feel in the same way almost every morning with my urge for the caffeine shot:

"Unfortunately, the cup is so hot that I almost drop it as soon as my fingers make contact. Despite its inviting aroma, I decide to put it on the desk and avoid burning my stomach with it for the moment - I do desperately need a caffeine shot, but I do not need third-degree burns."

Kayla is a city girl, fashionable and wild. She needs one night stands kind of men and it last literally one night. Kayla likes New York and everything that got with life there. Poor Kayla I totally related with her I hated visiting rural areas in the past, but not now.

"My expression immediately becomes less cheerful. The mere word 'Arkansas" gives me a weird uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach ...and no amount of ginger tea is going to make it go away."

The first expression when she meets Greyson, the mayor:

"I need to force myself to stop staring at him the way an alcoholic would stare at a bottle of good whiskey and try and focus back on my actual problem."

"Glancing over at him and his backside, if I'm being totally honest. I'm starting to think that it ought to be designated a national monument. If we can't do that, we can at least declare it to be one of Herber Springs' protected species. You don't see asses like that every day... They ought to patent the damn thing." 

The hilarious scene I experienced reading this book is:

"It gets better and better," he murmurs and ruffles his hair with his hand. It's so unfair that men almost always look sexier after they do that. It never happens to me- if I ruffle my hair, I end up looking like a demented porcupine, at best."

I must admit didn't know what is a porcupine and I googled and then I laughed till tears didn't come and my stomach ache. 

There were many deep and some of them are just interesting thoughts which I want to share with you:

"Nobody is perfect, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's life."

"I'm not used to people being kind to me anymore, which is why I'm always suspicious when someone offers to help me. But this time I don't want to be suspicious." 

"Do you know what they say? The things worth fighting for never come easy."

"This man is so good that I almost want to corrupt him."

"Each of us has to live with our insecurities, I'm just better than average at hiding mine..."

I have more quotes but it's not my intention to be boring in the opposite that is the evidence how much I enjoy in this book.

I recommend it to everyone who likes Sophie Kinsella style of writing.

Kayla is a journalist and writing about the nightlife of NYC. Her boss was Roger and giving her a new assignment in Fayetteville, Arkansas .Kayla’s Aunt Jill loves in Heber Springs and Kayla would be staying with her. Also she would be there a few months under the guise of writing an article on City Girl In the Country. But really Kayla would be investigating the shale gas industry. Local economy is based on agriculture and farming. Fayetteville is one of the largest shale gas sites in the United States. Shale gas is important for the energy independence the U S is hoping to achieve. But one of the consequences with shake gas is a ton of aquifers across the country have been polluted. The residents are getting a big payday to let their land be used. Even if earthquakes occur and water is polluted. The press has been to busy to report on this shale gas and and what it may cause. Environmental problems involved are massive. Roger wants to be the first to inform people through the press. Kayla’s cell phone had died a while back and she wasn’t sure she was going the right way to get to Heber Springs Kayla pulls over to the side of the road hoping there is a map in the rental as there isn’t a navigation system. Then a an in a pickup truck with a cowboy hat stops and asks Kayla if her can help her.She finds out later Mayor Grayson og Heber Springs had stopped to help her. Kayla doesn’t do relationships. Even with her mother she occasionally talked to. They both lived their own lives and were content that way. Grayson had a good job and Boston but left it and was a romance recluse after a particularly nasty divorce from three years earlier. But Kayla and Grayson are very attracted to each other but neither want to let their walls down or even try at a commitment. Kayla is more a one night stand type of woman whereas Grayson is a forever type of guy still behind his walls.
I had mixed feelings about this book. I loved Grayson and how old fashioned and guarded he was but he did have a reason. But didn’t really have a good connection with Kayla. I didn’t like how she felt she was better than everyone. I also thought she acted immaturely at times. Kayla’s thing for her shoes was very funny. I did laugh at different times while reading this. I liked seeing a relationship grow and not instalove/lust. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

It's really nice, once in a while, to read a romantic story without drama or complicated plots!. Even if there is the serious subject of fracking and shale gas, this is very much secondary, almost non existent, and the focus remains on the romance. Kayla and Grayson are very likable characters, despite both being stereotypical "city girl goes to the countryside" + mysterious alpha male.

If you can't stand clichés and simple characters, then this book isn't for you. It is best suited for those moments when you just want to put your pink glasses on. I just happened to be in the mood for something light, so it really hit the spot. If I had wanted complex plot, characters and more serious subjects, I would have been disappointed, but then again, with the genre being romance and a cover befitting the mood of the story, I got exactly what I was hoping for.

For those who enjoy shoujo manga without getting tired of the same romantic formula, consider this a grown-up version, but with the same soothing effects. Their romantic story is sweet, very funny, steamy and with great chemistry between them. It is also a fast read, perfect for the weekend, after a tiring day or when you are craving for some romance and just want to enjoy a happy ending. *I read it from an eARC*

If you're a fan of romantic comedy this story will appeal, the heroine is a lifestyle journalist, who is sent on an investigative journalist role back to her hometown. She faces exposure when she meets the mayor and there is an instant connection. She's a commitment-phobe, he's looking for happy ever after, leading to inevitable conflict, some humour and plenty of mixed messages.

If you're looking for a lighthearted read, and are prepared to accept slightly stereotypical characters this is worth reading.

I received What's Love Got To Do With It by Anna Premoli for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say-- I wasn't sure that I would like this one, but I loved it! It was funny, and hot/romantic without being "too dirty" as some of the romances tend to be. By the end of it, I was in love with Grayson as well! Looking forward to read more by this author!!!

Kayla goes to Herber Springs when she hears that the shale gas industry wants to steal her newspaper column. She meets Grayson there and he's recovering from a divorce.

Kayla is fun and funny as well as very observant. I felt this was the most fun of the Anna Premoli books I have reviewed as the plot was more engaging and the characters were more real and realistic. Parts are like Sex and the City (pink martinis) and Kayla's thoughts and musings about life and love. There's glamour, humour and Kayla is a fantastic character. This is a relaxing page turner.

One star is for books I didn't finish.

I didn't finish What's Love Got To Do With It? because it wasn't the 'laugh-out-loud romantic comedy' it promised to be. Well, not to me at least. All this story is based on is
a) Kayla getting into trouble or stumbling or something similar and her handsome mayor who knows it all (this doesn't have to be repeated every single page, if can make a suggestion) is there to help her out;
and b) their supposedly witty but in the end far too annoying conversations.

After 40 something percent of the book I gave up.

Kayla is a very modern women living in New York as a journalist. Her boss asks her to check out shale gas drilling in small town Arkansas. She goes to say with her forever young aunt. Kayla is not looking for a long term relationship but finds local Mayor Grayson who came from big business but has now taken on small town life. Kayla is a fish out of water but the colourful residents of Heber Spring and Grayson see through her sarcastic witt and humour which has become her armour. You will love this romance for how people can find each other but not try to change each other’s individual characteristics. I would certainly recommend following more stories by Anna Premoli.

This is the first novel I’ve read by Anna Premoli and I can definitely say I would gladly pick up another. A romantic comedy placed in rural Arkansas, this book made me turn to mush. This put a spin on the city girl moving to the country, as Kayla is not on the run or hiding but simply there to write an article for her newspaper. It’s not her fault that to investigate the shale fracking going on in Heber Springs she needs to meet the mayor head on. It’s also not her fault that the man is dangerously sexy and immune to her charms. A real bona-fide gentleman.

I fell in love with these two right off the bat. Kayla came on strong as an independent, humourous woman from New York trying to win over the hearts of the towns people. She made me laugh on so many occasions, especially when it came to her obsession with her shoes. (Believe me, as a woman, I understand girl!) As for Greyson, oh-my-gawd! He was the picture of sweet and romantic throughout. With the way he pumped his own breaks to lighten the risk of getting his heart-broken and his old-fashioned views, he made me absolutely smitten!

Though I wished I had more details describing the settings at time (add a little more description for the town or the people themselves) I feel that the strength of the romance and relationship and Kayla’s inner battle was enough to keep me in love.

I had a bit of a hard time getting into this book and contemplated not finishing, and then it surprised me and picked up immensely. What was almost an unfinished book became a 4 star read. I ended up liking this story a lot. I love when a book surprises you.

My Thoughts :
I loved the blurb of this book as to me it was going to be a story about a Boston city girl returning to life living in the country.
When Kayla David is sent to Heber Spring in Arkansas to investiagte the shale gas industry, she is to use her lifestyle column as a cover to why she is there.
To write her article she has to meet the Mayor and he unexpectedly comes in the form of handsome Grayson Moir.
There is an instant attraction between the couple but Grayson is still getting over a tricky divorce from 3 years previous. With both Kayla and Grayson not ready for any commitment or to let their barriers down can the couple get on or is this all about getting the job done!.
Although this has a predictable ending I still really enjoyed the storyline and enjoyed watching Kayla and Grayson’s relationship develop.
This is a sweet read, both charactors are funny and there is humour and romance aswell.
Anna Premoli has captured the town beautifully and I love that when you read about a place you can almost feel yourself there. Will certainly read more from this Author.
