This didn’t lose something in the translation. I think it is just about a cold mother, and a child that is not allowed to bond with her. The mother just doesn’t like being a mother, and hates the child for no other reason than that. And because the child is illigitamite, the mother feels that he is an embarrassment. But her father loves him, and the child dotes on his grandfather.

Most of this first volume is the set up of the child being accused of doing something he did not do, after his grandfather passes away, and thus he is left with no one to care about him.

And because this is mostly a set up, it is hard to say where this one will go, after this.

I was really enjoying this until the really abrupt ending. Why couldn't have there been more? It ended in such a short, weird way. It felt so incomplete. And I was enjoying the drama between Lucien and his mean mother. I honestly just needed an ending period.

This was interesting but rather peculiar. Lucien is a lovely child who has a cruel mother. He is the result of a one night stand that his mother had with a stranger. She is cold towards him, a real Cruella De Ville, but his grandfather adores him so he has a happy childhood despite his mother.

Time passes and sadly Lucien's grandfather dies leaving him with his cruel mother, mercenary aunt and very ill grandmother. Lucien's grandmother has an accident while in his care and dies, and unfortunately Lucien is blamed for his grandmother's death and locked in prison.

At that point the story becomes rather unreal because Lucien was too young to be imprisoned. Lucien meets his father quite by chance and their lives become intertwined in an unexpected way.

The story ends on a cliff hanger which is rather irritating because I wanted to find out what happens. The story has a cinderella feel to it and Lucien is such a cheerful character despite having such a ghastly mother and an uncaring aunt. It is such a pity the story ends so abruptly just when I was getting into it.

Thankfully there will be Sun 2 and there are some pictures on the author's website which give a glipse of the adventures to come. https://wvds.net/en/zon-2-update/

The art is good with just enough text to move the story along at a good pace. Great story but I really want to know what happens next!
