Little White Fish wonders where his mommy is. Is she big like the blue whale? No. Does she look like the red crab? No. Does she look like the yellow snail? No. Of course, Little White Fish finds his mommy—she looks like a rainbow. Very short and sweet with cute illustrations. Four stars.

Isn't little white fish sweet looking? He is trying to find his mommy in this gentle picture book story for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Little Fish encounters a number of sea creatures while searching; for example there are a red crab, a green turtle and a purple octopus. Young folk will painlessly learn about colors and water life in this adorable read. A nice book for a young child's bookshelf!

Little white fish is looking for his mommy. As he travels through the sea, he meets up with various sea animals of various different colours. Just a cute story about marine life, that also teaches colours. Simple pictures, simple text. My granddaughter loved it. I recommend this book to all family libraries and pre-school classrooms. The publisher, Clavis Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, opinions and ideas shared are my own.

I thought this was a lovely picture book. It’s great for teaching younger children colours in a clever way. It also allows little ones to learn names of some sea animals. I loved the illustrations in this book. Simple yet beautiful.

I read this book to my nephew and he really enjoyed it, so much so that we ended up reading it 3 times in a row. Will be purchasing this book for him and as gifts for other little ones in the family.

This delightful little book touches on the theme of separation anxiety experienced by a sweet little fish who can't find his mommy. He swims around trying hard to find her in the huge sea. On his journey he encounters a red crab, an orange starfish, a yellow snail, a green tortoise, a blue whale, and a purple octopus. Finally he spots her... yes it's truly her... adorned with all the colours of the rainbow. You can see the love and happiness in their faces and body language as they reunite together.

Toddlers will be exposed to interesting sea animals and colours. Vocabulary building and a young child's language development is addressed. The animals featured in the book are friendly and so too is the kid-friendly text. This is a lovely book to share with little ones who are separated from their parents for a variety of reasons and it articulates the feelings they experience both when their parents are gone and when they unite once again.

Little White Fish is a lovely picture book and a very clever way to teach young kids basic colours.
Along the way the wee ones get to know quite a few sea animals.
Adding to it, our main character is very likeable and behaves pretty much exactly like the target group (the picture book is aimed at children 30 months and up).

The little white fish is in tears, he has lost his mommy.
Now the young reader is swept along with our cute main character as we are on a search to find mommy-fish. On every page we meet a different animal and each one has a different colour.
The crab is red, the starfish orange, the snail yellow, the turtle green, the whale is blue and finally there's the purple octopus.

At the end, parent and kid are reunited and again this is a very clever story, as our mommy isn't just a plain white fish, but also sports all the colours of the rainbow and guess what, we just learned them and now there's a chance to repeat and therefore memorize.

And if you now go back to the first page, you will see, that at the start of our story when the fish is surrounded by shells and seaweed, there they are again, the six colours. The shell is purple, the sand is yellow, the waves are blue, etc. What a fab idea.

The Little White Fish sure is a real 5 Star-Fish.

It wouldn't be long before your toddler was vocalising the call and response nature of the text here, as s/he wouldn't only follow the adventures of the little white fish once. Oh no. There'd be multiple returns to this simple and attractive lesson.

2.5/3. A fish looks for its mommy. A colors book for younger kids. It’s been done before and I didn’t find anything super special about it / why you wouldn’t use a different one or an Eric Carle classic instead.
