Dragon King Nikolai Baudin witnessed how love destroyed his own father after the death of his mother and vows to never take a wife. Yet, when the little girl he rescued so many years ago returns as a beautiful and mysterious woman, he finds the desires of his heart overwhelming his good intentions. But when some of his people are found dead, Nikolai must face the possibility that the woman who draws him may just be the one murdering those in his care. Arianrhod Deatherage has every reason to hate the darkly handsome king who saved her from a burning pike, only to turn her over to strangers and then promptly forget about her. But when she finds him again, it’s not hate she’s feeling, but something far more unsettling… desire. If he discovers her secret, she could lose everything. But when people begin to die around her, Aria fears that the past is repeating itself, and that the man she’s come to admire could be the next victim.
This was a pretty decent shifter book. I always love the dragons! This was the first time I’ve read this author and I hadn’t realized this was the third in a series, but I didn’t feel like I’d missed anything by not reading the other two. I really liked both characters and enjoyed following them on their journey. I look forward to reading more from this author. I recommend.

This book was exciting, sexy, and an unexpected story. It had strong characters and the buildup of anticipated danger kept me riveted to each and every page. This was my first book by Aurrora St. James and it will not be my last!

King Nikolai 's heart is captured by Aria however both must overcome their pasts to find their future. This tale ensnares the reader from the first enter this world and to keep turning the pages to the end. This is the third book in the series Lords of Magic and can be read on its own but better in the series for the depth of this author's tales. Definitely pic this book to read along with rest in the Lords series.

Ebook from netgalley and publisher with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

This is the 3rd book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. Nikolai vowed never to take a wife, however when the woman returns that he rescued long ago as a child returns, sparks fly. When people some of his people are found dead, could she be the reason? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and lots of twists and turns to keep you hooked from beginning to end. A good read.

I enjoyed this story, though I hadn’t read any other books in the series I was able to pick up what was going on. Poor Aria she went through so much she truly deserved a hero.

Nikolai of Semar by Aurrora St. James is book Three in the Lords of Magic series. This is the story of Nikolai Baudin and Arianrhod Deatherage. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Nikolai has set his mind to never fall in love since he seen from his parents how much it can hurt. But when Arianrhod enter into his life again he is drawn to her and fighting his feelings is hard to do. Arianrhod also feels the pull to Nikolai but deaths are happening around her may cause his demise.
Enjoyed their story!

This is Aurrora St. James' Lords of Magic series. One being Gavril of Aquina, Two being Stefan of Caeli, and this third installment Nikolai of Semar. A kingdom is only as good as its leader. One that leads with compassion will overcome all evil but not without the help of a true love mate. Dragons, Fae, Magic Oh My! St. James also mixes in a few minor characters that need their own pages of romance. (Kiril please)"A copy of this book was provided by Aurrora St. James Publishing via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
