What an amazing story. I did enjoy this book but found it might have been better if it were a bit more fast-paced. I think that the author is to be commended for having the courage to tell her story, as I am sure many people do not believe her and are ridiculing her for such a fantastic tale.
Those interested in heaven, hell, and the afterlife will like this book.
I received a digital version of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

What do you think hell is like?
You might think like me, that Hell is a place of fire,
like the inside of a hot furnace…
But it is much worse than that!
Reading the book, “A Second Chance at Heaven”, was gripping.
I could not put it down.
Author Tamara Laroux tells us the truth about what happened to her…
after she attempted to kill herself.
She went to Hell, which she describes vividly!
BUT…
she prayed to God to send someone to tell people what Hell is like,
so no one else would be sent to Hell. It was too awful!
God answered her prayer!
He sent Tamara to tell us about Hell.
God gave her a second chance.
This book teaches us about Hell, about God, and about second chances.

Tamara begins her story by telling us about her background as a child of divorced parents living in West Texas and in her sophomore year of high school. She tells us that she loved her mother and stepfather and that she went through a school day going to classes and then going home, praying for God to forgive her, getting a .38 revolver, going to the bathroom, hearing a voice telling her to point the gun at her heart and remembering that she pointed the gun to her heart and it went off!
Then she tells us about her relationships with her Syrian father who was too busy for her, a stepmother who resented her, and how feeling of rejection and unworthiness started to gain a foothold in her mind and her opinion of herself.
You are then taken on a dizzying and scary journey into Hell, in which every molecule of her body was tortured by acid which burned like fire, while knowing she was terrifyingly alone even as she was surrounded by countless agonized souls!
You will have to read the book for yourself to find out what Hell is really like, and Heaven, how Tamara left this place in order to write this book.

An amazing book, that will make sceptics question their beliefs and believers strenghten their faith. The story of the writers experiences are so compelling, and this book is utterly readable.. Highly recommended.

I was given an advance copy of A Second Chance At Heaven by Tamara Laroux, to read and review.

This is a first person account of the author and what happened one fateful day when she was in high school. While her parents and friends thought everything was good, Tamara was struggling with feeling like her insecurities, imperfections, and self doubts became too much to handle. She came home from school that day and got the gun from her mom's nightstand, locked herself in her mom's bathroom, and intended to shoot herself. Before she could pull the trigger the gun went off, just missing her heart. What follows is her experience of going to hell and how horrific that was, then crying out to Jesus and being rescued and taken to heaven. When she is returned to get body, she calls out to her mom that she needs help and her mom calls 911 and breaks of the doorknob to get to her daughter. She shares what happened from that point forward until her 30's and how that experience changed her life and how God used her to reach so many.

This book was so hard to put down! It's a great gift for those who don't believe that hell is a real place, is meant as a warning. If you enjoy Christian nonfiction, you should give it a read.

I am curious about what happens when we die, what Heaven looks like and the encountering entering an eternal world..this book surprised me of one world that we rarely hear about if we don';t enter Heaven at first.
Tamara is a troubled teenager looking for acceptance, and her past of divorced parents makes her feel rejected by everyone in her life. It's difficult enough being a teen who seeks acceptance from peers, and Tamara has already made a decision to end her pain of an empty loneliness her body carries.
I noticed she already had some religous faith within her as she asks for forgivness from God as her painful decision is happening, but it took her tragic decision for her to realize her faith was always there, but she had to face herself in a dark world of torture and pain for her sin, in order to receive Jesus Christ as her savior.
As she wants to desperately get out of this dark world and perhaps a punishment first...she sees the gates of Heaven and finds there is a God who forgives and welcomes each of his children into a kingdom of peace and eternal life.
Her life isnt ready to receive this eternal afterlife however. She must tell her story to all, and once she is down on earth again, she faces shame and guilt for hurting her parents and freinds with what she did.
There are tribulations put before her and she knows some are wrong decisions when in company of bad freinds.. She wants acceptance,so she brushes that little voice in her head aside.
It takes a pernament consequence of a bad decision,to open up her eyes that God was with her all along, guiding her to live her life in good and share her afterlife story with others.
This is a true story of faith, love ,forgiveness, and acceptance. A religous afterlife journey Tamara Laroux shares with her readers and to help anyone who hasn't yet beleived and accepted Christ as the Lord in our lives.
I read this book in one day, the religous gospel in it was encouraging and opened my eyes to a faith I have but made it stronger.
Thank you NetGalley for giving me this book to review.
