Casey is having her college friends up for a retreat in which they will learn to knit. She is worried at how they will view her life now and that she won't measure up to them. Then a murder happens to one of the group and everyone is a suspect. A lot of the characters are a bit annoying but that's what happens when friends grow apart.

This was a fun read and the characters a bit zany sometimes, but I like that in a cozy mystery. I found that I didn't have to read the previous books to understand the characters.

I am looking forward to reading more of the series.

This was a fun, cute cozy mystery! I love the theme throughout, and I will definitely be continuing with the series.

I love the idea of the rejuvenation you can get from attending any sort of retreat, away from daily life. The rustic setting makes this yarn retreat seem even more lovely. And reconnecting with old friends is a great idea, but sadly, one winds up dead. The characters are very well described and I wasn't able to solve the mystery very easily on my own.

This review will be posted on my blog, Foxes and Fairy Tales, on 9 June 2019

I'm not usually keen on starting a series mid-run, but I didn't actually realise this was book six when I requested it. That said, Inherit the Wool does a pretty good job of bringing the reader up to date on the main recurring characters and Casey’s life, so I didn't really feel like I was missing out. I think the characters were a real strength of the book. My only gripe here is that after reading, I wanted to go back and read the first five books and was disappointed to find them unavailable via Audible or Kindle. This one was, but not the earlier books...

While I quickly caught on to Casey, Dane and the others, was a little overwhelmed by the five or six new characters who showed up for this book's retreat. They're all old friends of Casey’s, but to be honest they all felt very two-dimensional and bled together somewhat.

I really enjoyed all the other aspects of the story. Casey’s relationship with the locals: from the love-interest Dane, to the local detective, to her friends at the local restaurant. The rustic retreat location had a really nice atmospheric feel, though I'd have liked to see a little more of the town in general.

Casey was a really likeable character. I loved her personality and all her little quirks. I found it smart that she has what she calls "a patchwork" of jobs, meaning we get to see her running the retreat but also baking in the evenings and helping out as a magician's assistant. I also really liked that she phoned her old boss, a P.I., for help at various points, as it added a believability to the amateur sleuth angle and the leaps of logic.

All in all, a fun cozy from an author I'd like to read more of.

Great for knitting fans like myself. Really enjoyed reading this book. Lots of twists and turns in the storyline. Interesting characters in there too. All very good and easy to read.

This is book 6 in the Yarn Retreat Mystery series. This is a popular theme in cozy books today where crafters go on vacation to learn to reinforce their skills. This story has Casey hosting a knitting retreat for her college friends most of whom she hasn't seen in years. There is one mystery guest that turns out to be Casey's college crush. Casey is nervous because she worries all the others will be rich and big shots in their careers. Turns out she is the one who is envied by the group. A good murder mystery to solve along with Casey and her buddies including Detective Borgnine who is getting to be a more regular character. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

If you love mysteries that are knit/crochet worthy, cozy and fun then this is your series. These mysteries are entertaining without being to over the top and fast reads. The characters are likable and the villains distasteful with a interesting twist.

Casey Feldstein is a jack of all trades; from running yarn retreats to baking on the side and delivering g her goods to the local businesses to even helping her ex out with his amateur magic show. And when she's not doing that she's sving murders, much to the chagrin of the local law enforcement.
This time the retreat is for some old college friends and Casey is feeling like her.lufe isn't glamorous enough. Upon the gangs arrival, hijinks ensue from the self absorbed to the entitled. And no one is interested in yarn. Casey sees that as a challenge and discovers another as one of her retreaters is killed during a fake bomb scare. And the mystery, like the yarn unravels from there.
The cast of characters are annoying and definitely hold up as strong suspects, but Casey figures it out before the retreat ends and they all go their separate ways.

I found this to be a truly wonderful book with a surprise ending I did not see coming. Not only did I enjoy the premise of inheriting a home and business but I also identified with the doing multiple things to make ends meet and not quite having it all together while you believe that your friends do. I also identified with doing something you love but not necessarily wanting to broadcast it to everyone because you're afraid of judgement.

There was a bit of a love...square (?) going on which was well done. I found the interpersonal relationships to be well developed and quite funny in some instances. Overall, I loved this book and didn't care what number it was in the series. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to Beyond the Page Publishing, Betty Hechtman, and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.

Enjoyable read.
Our main character runs a yarn retreat to help people relax, but when her old classmates decide to get together in one of her own organized retreats, all comes unhinged.
The characters are well crafted and suitable in their difference. A spinster, a lawyer, a social worker, a rich heiress, a reporter, and a no-show for the event.
When one of them dies unexpectedly, the police think about foul-play and start the most unconventional investigation.

I think Casey should stop listen to folks talk and live her life, and not worry about who made fun of her or not, I mean how else would you know if the guy is the right one, I can tell you one thing it’s not by looking. A retreat with old college buddies wasn’t bad it’s when a murder occurs and things got awkward, it seems everyone had secrets even Casey. An interesting and enjoyable read with a lot of puzzle pieces to fit.

Inherit the Wool, by Betty Hechtmann, has all the ingredients of a cozy murder mystery. The main character is a single woman who is a wanna-be detective, the setting is a lovely rustic inn near the Pacific coast but isolated enough not to have cell phone service, a love interest or two, a plethora minor characters to love or hate, a plot following the tried and true outline yet there is still something missing in the story arc.

Hechtmannn is to be commended for developing a series that permits one not to have to read the books in the series. Inherit the Wool makes a fine stand alone story, and quickly captures the reader up with major plot devices that may have occurred in previous books. Although Hechtmann has her main character running around like a chicken with her head cut off it appears that she has misjudged the intelligence of her audience. The main clue is just too obvious, as are the red herrings. Likewise her sense of time is poor, we all know exactly how long it takes to do things and know there are only 24 hours in a day! She has cleverly left her main character with enough unresolved personal issues that a sequel may be inevitable.

An light, but easily forgettable, book; and sometimes that is just what you need.

This was a nice little escape. Casey has several jobs, one is running craft retreats; the second is baking for the coffee shops and a restaurant, in town; and the third job is acting as an aide to her ex-boyfriend and his magic show. She's been contacted by some old college friends who want to get together for a little reunion and want her to host a retreat. She's worried what they will think of her life as she thinks they are all successful and accomplished women.

Surprise! Little cracks in their facades are beginning to show. And then it happens, one of them is murdered. Casey decides she must figure out what happened.

This is a fun story and was a nice little escape. Casey is a nice character and several of her friends around town are likable. However, the story didn't keep me glued to the page. The writing style is easy-to-read, but there are lots of characters. I also , that might be figured out who the murderer was before the big reveal.

I like cozies and this fit the bill. Maybe part of my problem was that I hadn't read any of the previous books and that might be my problem. I might try another one in the series and see if it grabs me.

Thanks to NetGalley who supplied the book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the 6th book in the Yarn Retreat Mysteries.

Casey is hosting a retreat this time at the request of an old college friend, Vanessa. The odd ball little group of friends they were in college included being Ballarinas. Yes this is a made up game but it was better than gym class.

Casey hasn't really kept up with anyone from college, but if Facebook is to be believed, all of them have successful and happy lives. Casey worries that the Vista Del Mar resort may be a bit too rustic for these ladies. She's right. No cell service or internet seems to be the biggest complaint.

Until one of them turns up dead and Casey calls on her old friend Frank for some advice as well as Det. Theo, who is one of my favorite characters. Did someone in her group murder Vanessa?

There are all types of misdirection going on here and while I had a suspicion from the beginning, I didn't have it all until the end.

Let's just say that no one was what they seemed and everyone had motive.

Good series with lots of knitting and baking going on. Recipes and a knitting project are included.

Well Done!   Netgalley/BeyondThePagePublishing    Out Now!

Casey Feldman has tried many jobs trying to find her niche, but when she inherited her aunt's home and yarn store in Cadbury By the Sea, she found her place.
Baking at night, running retreats, and sticking her nose in police investigations, with surprisingly high rate of solving them, she is happy with her life, now if she could just be sure she was here to stay.
When she set up a reunion retreat with some of her college friends...one ends up dead....she is there and finds the dying woman, but is in shock. How? Why?
Her dogged determination to get the answers has her adding and subtracting suspects after she realized it was murder set up to look like a heart attack.
When the police chief asks for her aid, she's shocked, but with along with her friends, they find the info to help the police solve the crime.
I found this book on NetGalley and it sounded like a good read...it was great. I loved following the way Casey's mind worked.

Inherit the Wool A Yarn Retreat Mystery, #6 by Betty Hechtman
Excited to be reading a new author to me and the subject contains knitting.
She calls her friend Frank and he fears there's another murder as many have occurred since she moved to Cadbury by the Sea in CA.
Feldstein is putting on a yarn retreat reunion. The sorority from college will be coming, all people she knows, The Ballerinas.
She had tried a lot of different jobs and really liked it but there was no money to run the company.
Her aunt Joan had died and left everything with her.... Love how each get to introduce themselves to one another again and especially love the routine with the balls they do.
A murder attempt happens and Carrie is the one who collects the clues and tries to solve the mystery.
After the attempts and the women know they want to leave the area but Carrie has some ideas on how to keep them there-because one of them could be the culprit.
When pigs fly, LOL. I have seen them in TN. love how it fits into this book. Like how the local cop is also investigating from his angle, not his normal at all!
Love that she's a baker! Wow I missed so many clues in the story, had no clue who the culprit was.
Like hearing of the magic tricks, so cool! Love knit patterns for the scarf attached at the end.
And recipe for muffins! Other works and about the author are included at the end.
Really enjoyed this book can't wait to read more.

I always want to take up my knitting needles after reading one of Betty Hechtman's Yarn Retreat mysteries and Inherit the Wool is no exception. The author has created a strong plot with plenty of misdirection, and although I deduced part of the solution, part of it did elude me.

I do have to admit that I found this book a bit harder to get into than previous installments because of the reunion setting. This has nothing to do with the author's writing and everything to do with my personal experiences with old classmates and reunions. If I were the main character, there would be no Inherit the Wool because I wouldn't have agreed to host the retreat for those women in the first place. (Yes, in this instance I am a killjoy.)

Personal feelings aside, the reunion plot line is well written and shows readers a part of Casey's past that they hadn't seen before, and the resolution is satisfying. Whether or not you like to knit, Inherit the Wool is a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. If you haven't given this series a try, I do recommend it. Now... where's that knitting project of mine?

This was pretty much a middle of the road cozy for me. Just never could fully engage with the characters or plot, although there seems to be some potential for a next in series. Food, friends, knitting, and murder are what you'll get with this read. Overall, I'd give it a 3.5.
