This book is a great discovery. I did not know about honey infusion but only about alcoholic infusion, which is much more common in plant medicines (essential oils for example). I also liked how the author tries to always get scientific proof about what she is writing. I am now really interested in trying honey infusion.

Sweet Remedies by Dawn Combs is a wonderful book about natural healing herbal remedies made with honey. Combs is no stranger to working with both herb and bees. She is the owner of Mockingbird Meadows and makes and sells teas, syrups, and more. The book begins with information about working the hives and the history of honey. She then goes into making herbal honey preparations before sharing 45 recipes for honey spreads, infusions, oxymels, and tinctures. Finally, the last recipes are frozen treats, smoothies, jams and jellies, cocktails, and more. The book ends with information to make the reader a good steward to the bees and leaves off with information for those considering maintaining hives. Sweet Remedies: Healing Herbal Honeys is a great book for both its recipes as well as the wealth of easy-to-understand information about bees, hives, and honey.

It's a well compiled book with lot of information about honey and bee keeping and many remedies for various ailments and problems in which honey can cure with a mix of different herbs.

The pictures are very well taken and give a subtle and airy delicate vibe.

Most of the remedies are ingredients from eastern part of the world and their fusion with honey.

I enjoyed reading this book even though I would probably not try most of the recipes. I think honey is a sacred food, and the decline of the honey bee in many countries is a real problem, so this book is very helpful in that respect. It was beautifully laid out and illustrated. The only thing that disappointed me was the warning about heating honey, as I try to use it in baking as much as I can. I will need to do more research into this. Overall though, a lovely book. Thank you.

Very interesting book - as a yoga addict and vegan I enjoyed the ideas contained in the book and also learning about honey and its numerous uses.

So the recipes look like they'd be helpful, but the book perpetuates the myth that heating honey is toxic. I found myself doing a lot of research after reading that, and once I found some more information about that, I was sort of turned off by the whole book.

This is a nice comprehensive book on herbal remedies and how to prepare them. The author gives background information, explains why certain steps are taken, and walks us step by step through how to prepare remedies. She talks about what each one is used for, and provides several recipes as well.
