Saving Meghan by D.J. Palmer is a medical thriller about a girl who is in the hospital a lot. Is she really sick or is her mother obsessed with finding a cure at her daughters expense? I liked this book. It was a little slow in the beginning but the rest of the book held my attention. There were a few twists that made the story very interesting. Great story, great book. Highly recommend. My thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Meghan is in the hospital a lot. Is she really sick? Her Mom is obsessed in finding out what is wrong with her Or is she. This is a very good book and had me hooked right away. 1 of those I recommend everyone reads for themselves . You will not be sorry as this book was amazing.

This was such a fun read. I was immediately hooked from the first page and kept trying to figure out the ending, but couldn’t. I read a review where someone said that the ending came out of left field and that no clues indicated what would happen, but I don’t agree. I feel like now I know what happened, I could pinpoint so many things that should have led us to certain conclusions. That’s what makes this a great book—I want to reread it so I can catch the things I didn’t the first time!!!!

Can you love someone to death?
Some would say Becky Gerard is a devoted mother and would do anything for her only child. Others claim she's obsessed and can't stop the vicious circle of finding a cure at her daughter's expense.

Saving Meghan is a medical thriller about Fifteen year old, Meghan Gerard, who has become chronically ill over the last couple of years. Her mother, Becky, has taken her see multiple doctors and she’s had multiple tests done and yet nobody can find anything wrong with Meghan.

It was a little slow in the beginning but then picks up and kept me on the edge or my seat. I loved the obsession and deceit throughout the book. The ending was remarkable!

When I requested this book from Netgalley I had no idea that D.J. Palmer was in fact Daniel Palmer whom I’ve been a big fan of his previous books.
I can honestly say this book lived up to my expectations....no matter what he goes by Daniel Palmer is an amazing author and I am a big fan!
I loved this book. It was a great story, very well written, full of twists and turns and an ending I did NOT see coming.

I received an ARC from Netgalley of Saving Meghan by D.J. Palmer. I found the premise of this book to be really interesting. Meghan is a teenage girl who is sick, with an unusual array of symptoms that no doctor can quite diagnose. Becky, her mother, seems to thrive on being Meghan’s caretaker, sometimes basking in the attention she receives as the mom of a sick child. Becky’s husband does not quite believe in Meghan’s illness. One doctor truly believes that Becky suffers from Munchausen’s by Proxy, and is making Meghan ill. This book held my attention- I enjoyed the story and there were a couple of twists along the way that made the story more interesting. I would recommend reading to the end- this story really picked up about halfway through. I look forward to reading another book by D.J. Palmer.

Thank you St. Martin's press for this ARC. I have heard a few of our patrons asking about it mainly for the description and not to mention I share the same first name as the main character. This book is full of unexpected events on every page. It is easily relateable to a mother's concern that something is wrong with their child but it was shocking to read that a mother's concern and worry could be triggering side effects of a disorder. What if Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock and Jodi Picoult collaborated on a book? This is totally the end result! Every page was a surprise and we could not put this down!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review! We can not wait to consider this title for our Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars!

Saving Meghan is an ultimate portrayal of the affliction of the heart. Can you love someone so much that it blinds you?

As many reviewers have already stated, the book does start off slow. I was tempted, as many were, to put it down. However, the story does pick up and reward the reader. Palmer lays out a riveting narrative in which every character has something to hide. The twists that reveal themselves by the conclusion of the book are superlative.

Fifteen-year-old Meghan Gerard, has become chronically ill over the course of the last couple of years. Even though her mother, Becky, has taken her see multiple doctors and she’s had an egregious amount of testing, nobody can find anything wrong with Meghan. When Meghan’s symptoms suddenly become worse, a medical team intervenes and Gerard’s find themselves at the center of an abuse investigation. Nobody seems to believe that Becky has Meghan’s best interest at heart. She sets out to prove that Meghan has a real medical condition with the help of the one physician that believes her. Will this be enough or is there yet another explanation for Meghan’s symptoms?

I feel that this novel being labeled as a “thriller” has lent to some of the unfortunate reviews. The level of expectation going into a book of that genre is that fast-paced, excitement, and anticipation where this is not any of that. This book moves at a slower pace and builds the suspense, the audience needs to keep that in mind when starting out. It is a great read, highly recommended. 4 stars.

Good medical suspense story. Characters were believable and the dialogue was real enough that I felt like reading the entire story. Plot was concerning two parents and what they would go through when their daughter was trying to get a diagnosis for what their doctor believed was a disease that was extremely hard to diagnose. The mother was accused of Munchausen by Proxy for wanting to continue testing until her daughter was well. A few twists toward the end were a little hard to take as being real. A few plot holes at the beginning, for example the mother exiting her flight while on the tarmac and towing her luggage with her. Really? How in the world would she get her luggage if her flight was ready to take off?
Anyways,good book, good story.

I thought I knew how the book would play out by the end of the first chapter. And then I couldn't stop reading. Palmer throws in a lot of twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. This is a great GONE GIRL readalike.

Meghan has been having health issues for years, with no diagnosis. Her mother, Becky, will stop at nothing to get answers. A new doctor with a sad past thinks he can help. The father doesn’t believe anything is wrong. Everyone has secrets and seems to be hiding something. I can’t say that I connected with any of the characters and the ending seemed a little to tidy and rushed. All in all, it was a good read and kept me turning the pages.

Wow! I love it when a book leaves me completely guessing until the end. Medical mystery, twists, and just all around unknowns from start until the very end.

Thanks NetGalley and St. Martin‘s press for the ARC

Saving Meghan by D.J. Palmer For me, the pace lagged, going into the same details every time a new chapter had a different character POV. The characters were not very likeable, everyone had their own agenda no matter who got hurt in the process. The ending seemed off and rushed. There was more fast paced action in the final chapters than in majority of the book.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Usually I love any medical based drama, but had some trouble staying up with the story development in this one, I hated the characters. the basic drama is does the mother have Munchhausen by proxy or is the child really ill. You find out in the end through many twists and turns.
