In Safe Hands introduces us to Detective chief inspector Anna Tate. She is called to an incident at a nursery where the children have been abducted. I worked out early on in the book who the culprit was. For me it wasn't an edge of your seat thriller but it is a good read nontheless.

In Safe Hands by JP Carter is the first book in what I hope will be a series following DCI Anna Tate. I loved this book and read it very quickly. I do read a lot of books like this one but the story in this one was different and not predictable at all. I also liked Anna's story - extremely frustrating ending on that cliff-hanger and will be looking out for the next book in this series.

It all starts with 9 children being abducted from a daycare centre in London - and nobody saw a thing. The staff are locked away and unable to stop the men from taking the kids. The parents are distraught and insist that the police pay the ransom to get their children back. But it is never that easy is it. As Anna and her team investigate they unearth quite a few secrets of the parents. But the shocking twist at the end I certainly did not see coming.

Wow I stayed awake all night to finish this book. Once I started it I just could not put it down, brilliant isn’t a good enough word. It’s a genius if a book. Fast paced twist here there and everywhere. Ann the SOI is brilliant police officer she comes alive, as does the case of the peasbody nursery a ambitious kidnapping of 9 children. Oh god this is most most definitely I void to read without a shado if doubt. Awesome

The storyline was absolutely brilliant, and the characters brilliant too. Obviously with the cliffhanger there is more to come, I look forward to reading it too.

This is the start of a new series that introduces the reader to DCI Anna Tate. The book starts off with a shocking crime; 9 nursery school children are abducted and the race is on to retrieve them with DCI Anna Tate leading the investigation. I found this element of the book to be incredibly dull. Whilst the plot is fairly fast paced there are some incredibly obvious clues that all is not what it seems with one of the parents, and I found it hard to believe that the FLO didn't pick up on the tension between the husband and wife and look a little deeper into some serious inconsistencies in their behaviour. Instead, there are some attempts at red herrings, dead end trails and a miraculous break through with the DNA retrieved from a cigarette at the crime scene. I found this frustrating rather than tension building.
Where the story held the most interest for me was the back story of DCI Anna Tate and information that comes to light because of her recent anniversary interview in the press coupled with her appearances on television to appeal to the public for help with the case. Her personal case isn't resolved in this book, but there is a tantalising cliff hanger that will mean I definitely pick up the second book in the series to see where this plot line goes.

This would be a clear 5/5,if it wasn't for the cliff hanger ending which I found frustrating. Anna Tate is a detective working on a case of 9 children abducted from their South London nursery, really clever storyline with lots of thought put into it and it plays off! I haven't read a story this good in ages! Thrilling and couldn't put it down until I knew how it ended....could do without that cliff hanger though!

This is the first in a new series which introduces DCI Anna Tate who is part of the MIT in South London. When nine children are snatched from a nursery, and a member of staff is seriously injured Anna and her team are called in. The story is narrated by Anna which provides all the police procedures and media contact and Ruth, the mother of one of the children who is seriously ill.

From the outset it is likely that you will have pegged one of the culprits. I certainly did, but there was enough doubt and twist for me to never be quite sure until quite near the end. Even then, there were still a few surprises. It was certainly an exciting plot and I sustained interest to the very last word. I am looking forward to hearing more from Anna Tate.

This is what i call a real page turner, i could not put this book down. Nine children are snatched from their nursery. There is a ransom note and the clock is ticking. DCI Anna Tate is heading up this major investigation but is in two minds as it brings back painful memories. Ten years ago her ex husband abducted their daughter Chloe she was two years old.Anna has been on her own personal quest to find her daughter ever since. As i said before this is a real page turner and the action is non stop and full throttle all the way.
I had no idea who the ringleader was until they were revealed and it blew me away. This story grabs you by the throat and does not let you go. It is a story of every parents nightmare.
How safe is your child when they are at nursery?
I am eagerly awaiting this authors next book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I thought this was a very good debut novel and It was different to the usual crime novels, as there were no dead bodies!!

However, as fast paced as it was I had sussed it out early on and who was behind it all, but just didn’t know why.

I’m looking forward to the next one with Anna in it out in August.

In Safe Hands is the first book in a new crime series. It was enjoyable and I would recommend it.

I had high hopes for this book but this dwindled as I continued to read. I can't seem to put my finger on it but this didn't hook me, though it was average enough to keep me reading. I skim read the last few chapters and was rather disappointed by the ending which has given space for a sequel.

Anna is the main character who is a DCI. She's strong willed, very good at her job and my favourite character in the story.

This book almost felt like I was reading it in real time.

The main story revolves around the abduction of 9 children from a Playschool in London.

DCI Anna Tate is the SIO and most of the story is written from her perspective.

From the moment the abduction takes place Tate is at the scene and taking charge. The book only covers three days and for those three days we follow Tate, make her observations and listen in on her thoughts.

The sections seen from Tate’s points of view are occasionally interspersed by sections seen from the point of the parents of one of the missing children. Liam suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and his parents are rightly worried. His mom blames herself for the fact he was amongst the kidnapped, as he was only in the playgroup because she was going for a work interview.

For three days the case moves at pace and that pace makes it fly through to the final pages, and a stunning finale.

Carter has woven a brilliant story which takes place at a realistic speed. It examines the thought process of the SIO and looks at the guilt and anxiety of one set of parents.

This is a simple story, with not many strands to follow, and I’m going to borrow a line from all of those cookery competitions on TV

“If you do something simple it has to be done really well”

Believe me J.P Carter has done it really well

This story is a fast paced and keeps you entertained with its suspense. I liked the characters and how they were portrayed. Will definitely read her next one!

A fast paced crime book, DCI Anna Tate is a likeable character with her own past trauma which comes back to haunt her while trying to save 9 children kidnapped from their nursey. Anna and her team unravel more and more suspects the further they look into the kidnapping making them think this wasn't random. I did guess early on who was involved but it was good to see the truth about that day revealed. As Anna and her team fight against the clock her past comes back to leave Anna finally feeling she may get her answers. can't wait for the sequel

DCI Anna Tate knows just how the parents are feeling. She also knows that time is not on her side. With one little boy that's sick, and the ransom demand in, will Anna and her team find the children safe and well.

This is the first book in a new series to feature DCI Anna Tate. She works for the Met. The story is narrated by Anna and Ruth's point of view. Ruth is the parent of one of the missing children. This works well as we learn how the police are proceeding and how a parent tries to cope while waiting to hear if their child is safe and well. This is quite a gripping, well written, fast paced roller coaster of a read. The characters are well rounded and believable. You will probably guess right to who is behind the kidnapping, but that does not spoil the story. There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end so I'm looking forward to getting the answer in the next book.

what can i say about this book what a story once you start you dont want to stop if you like gripping twisty this the book for you anna tate i so love the character she has her own problems i not going to do spoilers but so highly recomend this book so cant wait for next book

One of the children, Liam, suffers from cystic fibrosis and if he doesn’t get his medication he’ll become ill very quickly.
DCI Anna Tate is the senior investigating officer in charge of searching for the children and she soon realises this case is likely to become tough, unpredictable and dangerous as the men have demanded a ransom of £6 million whic, if not received by the given deadline, will result in a child dying. She can sympathise with the parents of the children as her own daughter was abducted by her ex-husband ten years ago and Anna’s still looking for her.
‘In Safe Hands’ is a gripping and well-written thriller that’s had me hooked from the beginning. There are twists and turns, convincing suspects and a fast-paced plot with lots of action. This novel is the first in a new crime series featuring DCI Anna Tate and if the cliff-hanger on the last page is anything to go by we can look forward to more nail-biting excitement with Anna and the search for her missing daughter.

D C I Anna Tate is an interesting policewoman, her ex husband abducted their daughter after their divorce and she hasn’t see her for 10 years.
The case she is involved in is when nursery children are taken from their nursery and kept as hostages for ransom. Will Anna Tate be able to find and return them safe and well before the deadline for the ransom to be paid.
It was a thoroughly engrossing and gripping psychological thriller. I would read more books by J P Carter in the future.
Highly recommended.
