It's been a while since I've read anything from this author and I am so glad to rediscover Katie MacAlister! If you love your romance to be paranormal than these books are for you.

Now back to Day Of The Dragon… I was a bit bored. I never really connected with the characters and found them a bit maddening. I was just so bored that I wanted to stop reading but I didn’t. Thaisa just got on my nerves with the whole body image thing and Archer got on my nerves with his horniness. Just not my choice for reading.

The beginning of the book starts off extremely fast-paced, so much that it seemed like I was missing a first chapter. Because of this it took me a few chapters to get into the storyline but once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. I love how unique and rare Thaisa’s looks are, but I really hate her extreme lack of confidence. It seems like the author missed a great opportunity to show readers that women are beautiful no matter their image as long as they are confident in themselves. I don’t mind a female character who’s a little cynical and realistic about her image, but Thaisa becomes whiny and annoying with it, so far as to hate others for being good-looking. It just made her seem immature. Other than that, I liked the premise, I just wish it was executed a little more clearly. Some parts were confusing to read, because it wasn’t clear what was going on, particularly in the ending. I’ll be interested to see how MacAlister takes this series with the new Dragon Hunters.

Bonus Review of Wolf’s Mate:
Now this was a fantastic story! I love Abby’s character. She’s the perfect mix of sweet, sass, and a little badass. Declan is exactly what you’d expect in a shifter, very alpha-male and overprotective but in such a sexy way. I’m really interested in Cole’s story and the continued storyline of Uniformed Humanity.

Thasia works for a store that buys and sells artifacts and is blissfully unaware that there is another world out there. She is thrown into the world of the Others as she inadvertently sells a manuscript to the wrong dragon. Only he turned out to be the right dragon. Archer is locked in a battle with his twin brother and they are both after the text, which is supposed to bring balance between them.

This story is very typical of Katie MacAlister’s dragon stories. But I love all of her stories, and even though you can say that there isn’t much new to see here, I didn’t mind at all. The book is full of action, very funny dialogue and interesting side kicks. The story about Archer and Hunter and how they came to be was very interesting and I enjoyed seeing how that unfolded.

It is a fun book to read and I would definitely recommend it for a delightful escape from reality.

Day of the Dragon by Katie MacAlister is book Two in the Dragon Hunter Series. This is the story of Archer and Thaisa. I have read the previous book (and Loved it!) but feel you wish to make this a standalone you can. Thaisa doesn't have self confidence in her looks due to her unique look which has lead to looks and comments. But what she does strive in and have confidence in is studying ancient artifacts, becoming a scholar. Archer is a dragon shifter who has been at war with his twin bother for several years, each killing or harming the other members of their tribe. Now, he thinks he has found a way to end the war which leads him to Thaisa. Archer never really planned or thought of finding his mate during this time but that is what Thaisa is turning out to be. Thaisa with her low confidence didn't think someone like Archer would be attracted to her but he is making her see that she is more than she thought. I liked their banter, which kept things somewhat light.
In addition to the great book, there is a 2nd book added called WOLF'S MATE by Celia Kyle, which I also very much enjoyed.

I thought that the book would be a full length novel. I would have liked to see the characters developed a little bit more. Other than that, the story was enjoyable.

It’s nice to see a new type of dragon in Katie’s world. No one writes better stories about dragons. Here we have Hunter who meets Thsisa. They have s lovely story while at the same time Hunter is trying to help his clan. A wonderful start to the Storm Dragons!

Day of the Dragon:

This was my first read by Katie. While I have book 1 (still yet to read) this one can be read as a standalone. I thought this had good suspense, romance, and paranormal bundled up in one story. I think this is my first dragon story, and I look forward to diving into the first book now.

Wolf's Mate:
4 stars

This is my first Celia Kyle story. I really liked this shifter romance. Im starting to branch out more to other shifter stories besides werewolves, therefore in this one, Abby is a cougar and Declan is a werewolf. It has a lot of suspense and action to the plot which kept the momentum of the story going throughout.

Thaisa is a seriously single for a reason gal, who wants to be swept off her feet by a man. Archer Andras buys a manuscript from Thaisa and becomes charmed by her. After Thaisa realizes her employer didn't want to sell the manuscript and threatens her life to get it back. Thaisa becomes the key that will either win her man, or kill everyone trying.

What did I like? Archer and Thaisa have smoking hot chemistry. Even though Archer is a little to charming and Thaisa is a little too wall flower....together they make it work. I hated her name...Thaisa. It was hard to say and just the nickname part...THA. Who shortens to that?

Would I buy this book? No, sadly this is more of a anthology given that there is two books in one and the other book is written by someone else. I would of liked this one better had it been better fleshed out. Still Archer was sexy and the story was fun.

Thoughts for the author? I love the light dragons and miss their books,, can we get more light Dragons? Four stars of entertainment here.

I haven’t read a Katie MacAlister book in a long time and they are not as good as I remember. Don’t get me wrong this was a solid 3star read for me. The storyline was good I just wasn’t sold on Archer and Thaisa as a couple.

My initial thoughts on Day of The Dragon was complete and utter interest purely from reading the blurb.
Fantasy - check
Mystery - check
Dragon - perfect. check.

My interest further increased from the great reviews on this particular book and on many other Katie MacAlister’s books.In hindsight, I only became aware that the story did take more of a turn to a romance, although the cover should have been a giveaway. (Noting the last note, before I get into the review... I do have a fair amount of “romance” books read on my list not to mention the “want to read” list. However I am an old romantic at heart. I adore the build-up to the first kiss, the blossoming of love and the passion. Thus considering this please continue reading).

I was also surprised to see some reviews stating that they thought the book was humorous. In some ways it was, but not a “laugh out loud” funny.

None the less...

Thaisa - from the start I pegged her as a brilliant minded student who was stuck in a lousy job and was a mild manner person. She seemed to come out of her shell after Archer rescued her from the forest. Great character growth. However for moments in the book, she started to annoy me ever so slightly with the amount of questions and pauses between possible epic battle scenes. Verbal diarrhoea.

Archer - Sex God. Enough said. I did like the (although somewhat over-) protectiveness. But he is the perfect well-baked cookie cut (sex God) man (*cough* dragon).

Bree - what a quirky character. Her character grew on you.

Laura - one character that I would have loved to have been more involved with the story.One BIG question - other than why build up a character then make her poof out of the story - whatever happened to her phoning Thaisa back?

The overall story was fascinating I give it that. The mystery of who is behind killing the dragons. The code-breaking of the Raisa Medallion. I didn’t expect the ending when the code was finally broken and executed nor the immediate battle after which. For the most part, I wanted to keep reading until the end to find out what was going to happen.

Giving a 3 star: Although it was a good read, I just wasn’t impressed with it. Too much talking. Too many random sex scenes. At one point the randomness of many scenes made me want to stop reading...

I was quiet impressed with the second book, Wolf’s Mate, Shifter Rogues Book 1 by Celia Kyle. Characters were well defined and I enjoyed the story more. The story follows Abby, a cougar shifter, who accidentally got caught in the cross-fire of the SHOC team’s investigation on UH. Declan, a wolf shifter, (one of the SHOC members) sets his sights on Abby and protects her from the clutches of UH. His protectiveness stems further than looking out for an innocent bystander.

Giving a 4 star.

3.5* The KM book ends at 47%! I feel cheated, and the tale feels incomplete.

I used to be a massive fan of this author's Dark Ones series, her Aisling Grey, Guardian series and her Light Dragons series, but then spin-off stuff got a bit same-same and with there being so many PNR authors emerging, she fell of my radar. I had high hopes for this book.

If I'm honest, I found the humour forced and the quips a bit too seen-before and it wasn't LOL funny as with the above series, though yes, I did titter a time or two. The storyline was a bit far-fetched and confusing, and yes, it's PNR so it doesn't need to necessarily be entirely clear from the start, but boy did it take a long time. And, just as things were getting interesting and starting to happen, I turned the page and found that the tale was over and that the remaining 52% of the book was by another author whom I have no interest in.

I think there's only so many ways you can write dragons and only so much of the same MO where humour is concerned before it gets a bit eye-rolling and this book hasn't turned me back on to the author. Had I paid for this and realised it was so short, I wouldn't have been happy.

It's an OK book to skim read, but it's nowhere near as good as her classics from about 5 years ago.

I found this book very funny. The humor was outstanding, there was many laugh out moments. The story truly capture reader attention with wonderful suspense. This is a great story to read.

This was such a fun read! MacAlister knows how to write strong, yet quirky female characters who will not be dominated by their alpha male dragons. The mystery involved in this novel was wonderful, and lead into potential for the next book in the series.
All in all, I thought the dynamic between the couple was enjoyable, and the smutty bits were delightful!

This is the second book?! What?! I never would have guessed just by reading it.

Thaisa is a little different. She has a rare genetic gene that has caused her face to look different, so she’s spent my years dealing with the looks, name calling, etc. She threw herself in to the one thing that made her happy, studying ancient articifacts, becoming a scholar. While out with friends one night, her lack of self exceptance becomes clear, making statements about how the GQ male would never notice her. Well isn’t she in for a surprise....

Archer is the master dragon of his tribe. For hundreds of years, he and his twin have been fighting each other, killing off members of each other’s tribe. Now that a leaf has been discovered, it may hold the key to finally put the feud to rest. But first, he had to get his hands on it. And what a pleasant surprise that he has to go through a delightful mortal to do just that.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I think it was Thaisa’s quirky banter and babbling that kept me turning the pages considering you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. Don’t get me wrong, the story was just as captivating, including watching how it all unfolded. But this character was just....refreshing for me for some reason.

I’ll admit that there were a few issues regarding the story for me, but they weren’t a make or break issue. After all, this IS a PNR involving Dragons, Demons and Spirits. 😁

This book was reasonably well written but never grabbed me. The story, while full of suspenseful situations, seemed sort of pointless. Even after tons of intense situations, I never got closure with the ending. I love a good dragon story but even the dragons weren't quite what I expected and wanted either. The book wasn't a bad read though and MacAlister writes well with plenty of depth to the characters and good descriptions on the story.

The second book in the bundle, Wolf's Mate by Celia Kyle was better and I enjoyed it much more. I'd give it a 4.

Two full length stories were included in this book. Both were well-written, entertaining and sexy. Day of the Dragon: The heroine is a human, a scholar and a language expert, who does not believe in the supernatural. Then she meets Archer Andras - a dragon?!? The two have amazing chemistry and nothing will be the same for either of them. Wolf's Mate by Celia Kyle: Abby Carter is in danger, and werewolf shifter Declan Reed comes to her rescue. But she is not going to just trust him - he is going to have to prove himself. These two have amazing chemistry too, and the fast-paced story kept my attention to the end. I enjoyed these books and look forward to reading more books by these authors.

I always like a good dragon story, especially Katie MacAlister's dragons. Thaisa is a scholar who can translate ancient texts. Everyone is after to her translate one leaf and they are all willing to kidnap her to get it done. Archer claimed her first, but his twin wants her too. Thaisa is an intelligent, feisty woman that keeps the dragons on their toes, will she be Archer's mate? He wants to protect her and she wants to be an equal partner. He is old fashioned (he is over 700 years old) and she is all about being equally yoked with her mate. How can he keep her safe when she won't be tucked away when there is danger?

I read most of Katie MacAlister book and I was never disappointed.
This one was really good, it made me laugh and root for the characters.
I will surely read the other in this series.
Highly recommended!

I love several of Katie Katie MacAlister's series. That being said, I was truly entertained by this book. I didn't think she could come up with a new story line, after all the other books she has written. I was wrong!!! She made me love the dragon world more with this book.
