What a fun romp-anther fine book by Katie MacAlister. I have many Aaron’s who are in her fan club so they will enjoy this addition.

Second in the Dragon Hunter books, and I definitely liked it better than the first.

I can't say the same for the second book that was included. That one I slogged through 75% and finally took mercy on myself and set it aside.

If the rating was just for the second book, it would be a one star. So I am going to ignore that book being included at all, and just rate the first.

I enjoyed this book and pacing was fast and I found it a hard book to put down. The story was very good and enjoy see old friends and meeting new characters. A great addition to the series,

In Day of the Dragon, MacAlister presents us with another light paranormal romance that I did not find as funny as previous titles. Thaisa was an interesting heroine; her skills and interests perfectly align with the needs of the dragon Archer. She is suitably feisty if a little over-concerned with what she sees as her physical flaws. Archer is the quintessential alpha male - making declarations left and right while Thaisa merrily skips her way to one side and the other, avoiding each declaration with aplomb. If you are looking for a light PNR title, this will suit your needs admirably. I would have liked to see a little bit more character development.

Day of the Dragon’s paranormal romance pairs archivist and manuscript expert Thaisa with Archer, a dragon at war with his twin brother. This ‘fated mates’ trope offers a light, quickly paced read, though I found the characters a bit flat and lacking in depth. As a reader, I felt there was a lot to accept as face value, particularly Thaisa’s motivations and emotions.

Loved this story! It was scary heartwarming and sometimes just plain funny. You can’t help but love Thaisa and her attitude with Archer she is smart funny even a little hard on herself but it makes the story that much more. Archer is a gorgeous man who never thought he would find a mate much less be amused and in awe of her brains. When Archer comes to retrieve the page he paid for he is attacked buy a woman he would never have paid attention to but her fieriness makes him look a little deeper.
You also get an additional book with this called Wolf’s Mate
Abby just wants a simple life after what she went through as a child at the hands of Unified Humanity hiding after they killed her parents. Working as an accountant is about as quiet as it can get until she stumbles on a discovery of money being wired to the Unified Humanity. With that discovery she has tipped off the owner and the SHOC who had been watching them for weeks but something about Abby intrigues DeClan and he is gonna save her.
DeClan feels such a connection to Abby that he is defying orders ,saving her and hiding her. Everybody wants her but not like DeClan does his wolf wants her cougar and the attraction is mutual. Abby and DeClan are fighting against the world but when they hid out at his brother Pike's house someone rats them out. Now that Abby is missing DeClan is gonna pull out every stop to find her no matter what.
This story is full of danger and passion and of course shifters, Abby and DeClan are both tough and brave hopefully they will let down their walls for each other.

Spoilers up ahead!

Maaaan this is what you would call a disappointment... I was such a fan of Katie's and her Aishling Grey series, it's one of my fun comfort book series.

This book is about the storm dragons and yes Archer is a very interesting character but man the MC just got on my nerves. She talked like a lot and it felt like the author was trying to recapture the lightning in the bottle that was Aishling Grey and it just fell so flat. Also, the whole her being ugly or whatever just was so unessisary, why even comment on her beauty by "social standards"? The love interest is, of course, GQ model gorgeous, at least the main character states it about 200 times and then negs on herself for being "not attractive enough". Why write your MC like this, it just came off as super tasteless and super annoying. If you are in a relationship where you feel inferior, the relationship will not last.

Also, they confess their love for each other in the middle of the book, both of them. They say it, again and again. This after having known each other for, ow I don't know maybe 5 days.

This was just such a mess, 1,5 stars and this is me being generous. I almost DNF'd this book several times due to the cringe factor.

This story has a bit of everything pulling you in from the start.
The humour, romance and action hold the story line together, making for a very enjoyable read.

Do not bother with the second story which is a run of the mill shape shifter story.

Can a woman fall in love with a dragon? Thaisa would have said, no; but that was before, the leader of the Storm Dragons, Archer Andras, came into her life.

When Thaisa’s boss discovered that a particular manuscript had been sold to Archer Andras, he was furious. He threatened to break every bone in Thaisa’s body and even hurt her grandmother if she did not retrieve the document immediately.

Thaisa didn’t know that the Shadow Dragons were at war with the Storm Dragons, until Hunter, Archer’s twin brother, and leader of the Shadow Dragons, kidnapped her. When Thaisa began to unravel the mystery between the two brothers, she saw that she was about to play an important role in balancing the two of them. Who knew that dragons could be loveable as well as real?

Day of the Dragon is an entertaining read and one that I enjoyed. Thank you, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

What a fun read! Thaisa is quite q character. I loved her ingenious hiding place. Archer is a hot Dragon who thinks his word is law. The interaction between them is often hot but always humorous. Just when you think you have the bad guy figured out the story turns. I really enjoyed this book.

I didn't realize that this was book 2 in this series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone and be perfectly understood. Thaisa has been thrown into a world she knew nothing about and is just trying to understand and make it through to the other side. She is a smart woman but she definitely has hand ups, although I guess after dealing with them her whole life, who wouldn't? That was my only drawback with this book, she kinda harps on her looks a lot and compares them with Archer. Archer definitely reminded me of this author's other dragon characters and made me laugh. A lot! And after reading this book I did go back and read the first one to make sure there wasn't anything I had missed. There are a lot of parts that will make you laugh, there is definitely action, and some suspense thrown in as well. I enjoyed it, I just didn't like the whole harping on the looks part. The second book is by Celia Kyle, and that is the first book I had read by that author. I thoroughly enjoyed that one! And have since gone looking for the rest in that series and to see what other types of books she writes! So in this one you get a great read by 2 different authors! Well worth it!

Day Of The Dragon:
I've read many stories by Katie MacAlister and had loved them, but sadly this book just didn't do it for me. I really wanted to like it, but I just didn't. It was slow and had an all over crazy storyline about dragons, demons, and constellations.

Thaisia is smart, and interesting, but she has massive hangups about her appearance and how lacking she was compared to Archer. She had no knowledge of there being an Otherworld, yet she busted out spells and whatnot from reading books...? Ok then. She truly got on my nerves the whole way through the story. They'd be in the middle of a fight scene, and she'd start asking questions and having verbal diarrhea. For real?

Archer fell flat for me as well. I felt he really only wanted to touch, taste, and boss around Thaisia, it got annoying real quick. I liked that he was protective though, but even that was a bit much.

The only thing that really helped this story was Bree. She was a wonderful secondary character. She was quirky, entertaining, intriguing, and just a ball of sunshine!

Laura sounded like a good character, but then she just disappeared at the beginning during the flight. There was no more mention of her nor did she ever return Thaisia's phonecall. Curious to know more about her.

All in all, this was a 3 star read for me and I wouldn't recommend this story to my friends. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC, this is my honest review.

Wolf's Mate:

This is a new to me author that I happened to stumble upon due to the book being part of a 2-in-1 book. I’m a fan of paranormal romance and this one was a good read! It was interesting, a bit intense, sexy, and was very visual in the descriptions (but not too detailed).

I liked both main characters and the secondary ones. This story is about Abby and Declan. Abby is a strong female, even when danger arises. Sure, she breaks down some, but what civilian wouldn’t when people are shooting at you and trying to kill/kidnap you. I liked how caring she was also.

Declan was alpha, sexy, protective, and seriously skilled with killing. I loved the family he formed with his team and how they had each other’s backs.

All in all, this was a good and enjoyable read! I’m definitely going to continue the series!

This book - missed the mark for me. The plots were messy and the dialogue was flat and didn't flow most of chemistry fell short. I Tried to like the main character's I did but I had no meat to hold on to. By the end I had real clue who was bad and good and to be honest I didn't care,

Wolf's Mate, the extra story in the book by Celia Kyle was ok. While I liked this one better then the other, it wasn't by much, Both books for me were flat and I spent more time wanting to just get through it.

I normally love both Author's and it pains me not to be able to give a better review. Thanks
to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I always love a Katie MacAlister book - she's funny and irreverent, and her heroines always make me laugh. Day of the Dragon didn't feel quite up to par with her usual work, but it was still an enjoyable read. A little all over the place, and I couldn't quite warm up to Archer, but a quick, easy romance if you're looking for some light relief.

Wolf's Mate, the extra story in the book by Celia Kyle was also really enjoyable - though I feel like Abby could have done with a little more pep and characterisation.

I've read every single book written by Katie MacAlister (some twice) and have loved them all. Day of the Dragon is the second book in her Dragon Hunter series and is a laugh out loud read... took a bit to get the story going but once it did it flew. Will add this series to my watch list.

I received a copy of Day of the Dragon by Katie MacAlister from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, Day of the Dragon and the included novel - Wolf's Mate by Celia Kyle - missed the mark for me. The plots were messy and the dialogue was flat or contrived (didn't flow) most of the book. Also in both novels, the main characters' chemistry fell short.

I have read - and liked - other novels by Katie MacAlister before so I am not sure why this book did not resonate or why it was a chore to complete.

I'd give Day of the Dragon 3 stars.

Wow what a fantastic book. It told us of 2 brother who hated each other but never really knew why. It was told that one day things would change but they never fully understand how. In the process Archer found his mate and they began to pieces the puzzle together. This story made us give in to our imagination and took us a that magical journey. This is a must read. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.
