I love how Ms. MacAlister combines humor in all her books.The back and forth between the H & H just make her books a go to when you want something light and not to serious. The dragon books have always been my favorite.I didn't like that Thaisa kept saying she was not good enough for him because he was so good looking.I love Bree she was a hoot. But I do miss Jim. I really tried to enjoy this book, but ultimately the storyline became convoluted enough that the book was difficult to finish. I didn't enjoy the protagonist; she was written in a very over-the-top quirky manner that made her difficult to identify with. Overall, maybe a good "junk food" read, but lacked cohesion.

A good dragon romance with lots of drama,action,humor,good dialogue and romance.

Ok I admit the cover caught my eye and then I thought oo a Dragon book so count me in. I realise now that this contains two stories and indeed the first isn’t the beginning of its series which I hadn’t expected.
Day of the Dragon 3 stars
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Ms MacAlisters dragon books in the past but unfortunately this story just didn’t really grab me. Perhaps the slow start or indeed the crazy storyline about dragons, demons and constellations just failed to really reach out to me. I guess sometimes no matter how you want to become immersed it just doesn’t happen. The heroine Thaisa is bright, interesting but unfortunately has hang ups about her appearance. Archer is well just sex mad and I got very bored of his constant need to touch, taste etc and indeed it didn’t seem to matter who was listening. The suspense and general plot felt all over the place but it’s saving grace is the female character Bree who added greatly to the mayhem and madness that fuelled this story.

Ok the second offering is something I’d already read so please check before purchasing that you don’t own it. Ms Kyle offers the first in her Shifter Rogue series and it’s essentially Cougar shifter Abby caught up in shenanigans concerning an organisation targeting our furry friends out there. Now luckily a crack team of shifters are investing which puts Abby right in Wolf shifter Declan’s sights. Perhaps not as quirky as some books by this author but I definitely enjoyed this one as it felt credible and allowed the shifters to be ‘other’.
So if brutal I definitely enjoyed one story far more than the other so struggled with a fair rating but my voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Another great entry into the world of MacAlister's dragon septs. Its always interesting to see how this world will expand and evolve through each book. The heroines and heroes continue to be amongst the paranormals' funniest with quick wit.

Ok I think this is my first Katie MacAlister book...at least for a while now. The story was surprisingly short. Archer and Thaisa meet as Archer was searching through the antique store where Thaisa works. Actually they met much earlier but neither of them expect to meet again that night and in such circumstances. Archer is eventually fascinated by Thaisa, while she has some insecurity to get over.

It was interesting, how Thaisa breaks the languages she's given to decipher. And how she is able to solve the mystery of the amulet. Though I wonder why Archer and his brother couldn't do it themselves...given they're old and all... oh well. Oh and Bree is such a hoot. Hope we see more of her in the next books. And that she brings some other dragon down to his knees... :)

Someone is killing Archer’s dragons and they all believe it’s his brother’s tribe doing the killing. Thaisa is a researcher in a collector’s shop. When a page leaf is acquired by her boss that suggests it’s ‘the true telling of the Raisa Medallion’ Archer buys it. Thaisa ends up confronting Archer when she finds him late at night taking the leaf. He believes she was about to renege on his purchase, and he wasn’t going to let that happen. Thaisa has unique looks, she has Poliosis, which makes her self-conscious and defensive about her looks. She twists a lot of compliments into attacks on her appearance. She also acquires a funny sidekick Bree who is way more than she seems. When her boss discovers she’s sold the leaf he threatens her and her grandmother suffering from Alzheimers. While she’s desperately trying to get the leaf back from Archer, his brother tries to hire her to translate a photo copy of the leaf. Kidnappings occur, inappropriate touching, various threats, plots uncovered, secrets revealed…there’s a lot jam packed in this story. With a dangling threat to be resolved in a future story.
I read a review copy from NetGalley so some things may change before final release but in my copy there were some consistency issues with them sometimes being called Dragon Hunter and other places in the story they are called Demon Hunter and a few minor editing issues. There are a couple of spots where believability went right out the door. For example Thaisa was going to meet a potential client to translate and decode a document but was going to meet this complete stranger at a club at 9 pm. I’m sorry but I had a tough time wrapping my brain around that.
There’s definitely interesting reading here and I’m curious how this series will play out.

Archer just really has no tact, “yes. Are you here to meet a man?” Archer really doesn't like when his woman doesn't listen, “why do you not listen to me? I talk, and you do not listen. No, do not take one more step. I don’t have time to pick glass out of your feet.” Archer likes to threaten his woman with yummy hotness at times, “if you keep looking at me like that, I will take you to the nearest bed and bury myself in you until you scream my name in ecstasy. Three times. Possibly four if I can survive your lustful demands upon my poor body.” I liked this book, I fell in love with Archer.

Don't read this book in public! I laughed so loud and hard - and unfortunately, I was sitting at my hairdresser's while I was reading. Actually, I realized that I had been laughing out loud when I saw everybody smiling at me. Well, at least I wasn't crying and sobbing, right? I really enjoyed every single page of this book and didn't put it down till the last page.
At least till the last page of Day of the Dragon, as it took me some time to notice that Day of the Dragon was not the only book in there. Soooo... just keep on turning the pages and you can enjoy another great book! Wolf's Mate by Celia Kyle was also funny, captivating and well-written. It's the first book by her that I've read but who could resist a "team of the best of the bad"? I couldn't and I'm really looking forward to the next stories about the Shifter Rogues!

I've been a fan of Katie MacAlister for many years now. Always the first in line to check out her books at the library. Being as my teachers salary doesn't allow for me to splurge. And I have to thank you Katie for giving me hours of enjoyment. That being said, I wish I could also say, this book was one of your best. However that wouldn't be quite truthful. What I can and will say though, is that this is a good book, a fun book and well worth the read. So if you're already a fan you won't be disappointed, and if your not, you will be soon.

I love Dragon books. Katie MacAlister is one of my favorite authors. I usually love her characters but had mixed feelings about Thaissa, she was not as strong a character as usual. I did enjoy this book and will read the next one. Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read this book

The blurb of this book mentioned that this would be a good book for lovers of Lynsay Sands and Gena Showalter. However, although I'm a big fan of Lynsay Sands, the story of Day of the Dragon is not nearly as good as a story of Lynsay Sands.
The story is about Thaissa, who is a scholar, specialized in translating old languages. When she sells and ancient paper, her boss is furious. He threathens to hurt Thaissa's grandmother (and only living relative), so she sets out to find the buyer of the paper. This turns out to be the dark, tall and mysterious Archer. And although Thaissa feels attracted to him (and vice versa), Archer doesn't want to sell the paper back to her.
When Thaissa then is abducted by a evenly strange and mysterious man, Hunter, who turns out to be Archers'brother, things are getting stranger. Even more strange, when Thaissa is trying to translate the ancient paper, where is written that Archer and Hunter are dragon shifters...
The story is funny and amusing, but it just isn't very believable. And although Lynsay's vampires are of course also totally fictional, I really could imagine those characters walking down the streets. Katie's characters? Not so much... So, maybe I'm just a little prejudiced, but only three out of five stars from me. And a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Archer Andras leader of the Storm Dragons thought his life was difficult with the continuing war with his brother Hunter leader of the Shadow Dragons. He did not know what fate had in store for him with his mate Thaisa a sparky historian who did not accept he was her master. She was his equal and brought the quirkiness and skills to prove it. She literally pulls the house down to prove her point. This story makes you lol with this feisty relationship but the love shines through and you await the next dragon instalment with eagerness.

Historical scholar Thaisa is out with friends enjoying a drink and girl talk when in walks Archer. Tall, dark, and oh so over the top smexxy, Thaisa knows she doesn’t stand a chance. But no one is more surprised than she is when she finds herself abducted by his twin brother Hunter and then rescued by the object of her lust. And if that wasn’t terrifying and exciting enough, they just happen to be dragons! Toss in a mouthy sprite, demon summoning, a mystery to solve, and a lot of verra hawt dragon sex, you get a quirky fun read that is almost impossible to put down! Highly recommend and look forward to more of this series!

It's been a while since I have read Katie MacAlister so I eagerly started this book. I found this to be a good romance with sit and interesting characters, but not quite as good as her other Dragon series. Still a good solid funny read. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

It was so wonderful getting back into Katie MacAlister’s dragon world. Archer is a typical bossy dragon leader and Thaisa is a quirky, brilliant scholar and the perfect foil for Archer. Bree was an hilarious side character and a definite surprise at the end. I look forward to seeing what happens next in this series.

A fun read, start to finish, the dialogue is witty, crisp, and clever. This book is Katie MacAlister at her best, it takes me back to her first books that made you giggle and fall in love with her quirky characters.

Had to DNF this book in the first chapter, unfortunately. I just can’t do books with silly, valley-girlish dialogue between characters. It sets the book up badly and makes the characters seem very empty and shallow. I’m all for romance and character development, but we really need more books with strong female leads who break the shell and present readers with an alternative. When characters in romance novels are presented in a vapid fashion, it’s an instant turn-off for me. Romance novels can and should be more than this.
