Ida and the Whale is the story of a lonely girl who one night goes on an adventure with a flying whale. The pictures in this book are beautiful and its a cute little story. I think young children will fully enjoy.

Cute story. Read this one with my five year old and she enjoyed the story and loved the pictures. Had some formatting issues with the kindle version, but was able to figure it out without too much trouble.

Adorable story of Ida and the Whale. Perfect story for little ones who might feel a little lonely at times. Lovely illustrations.

Well… fine painted illustrations match up with a narrative of a girl riding on the back of a flying whale through the cosmos to things unexplained – like the hippyish rubbish that constitutes the plot. I was all on board for the design, but the story (such as it is) left so much to be desired, you'll wonder if your child audience has nits or is just scratching his/her head at the rubbish you've just shared with them. This really is a case where the quality of the pictures cannot redeem the words, and it has to remain at one star.

Utterly charming book of either a dream, or a real flying whale, who visits a girl one night, and takes her on an adventures.

The pictures of the world that the whales travels through is gorgeous. And the whale teaches Ida to see beyond what she is looking for.

Thanks to NEtgalley for making this book available for an honest Verviers.

The pictures are gorgeous and really carry the story, which was important when that sometimes seemed a bit flat. But your book would be great for reading with kids at home, and aloud in a classroom or library setting. The emotions are conveyed well and the friendship between Ida and the whale is touching.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Once upon a time, a little girl named Ida lived in a tree house. Then, one night, a whale came by her house and took her on an incredible adventure! What will Ida and the whale find out about the world and themselves on this strange adventure?

Ida and the Whale is an allegorical tale involving serious questions in a very child-friendly form. Written as a fairytale, it is accompanied by magical illustrations with beautiful colors.

This is an ideal read-along book, but also a very interesting lesson for adults! Strongly recommended for children.

This is an interesting book - the illustrations are gorgeous, the layout of the words on the page is interesting and fun, but the prose itself is all a bit plain. There's an underlying charm, but there isn't a lot of zest, fun, or 'read aloud' delights for the little ones listening to the story.

A nice tale that perhaps lost something in translation? It's a gorgeous book, but just an okay story. I'm not sure how much me and Miss 3 will be re-reading this one, though it looks really lovely.

So beautiful, I read it twice. The story and the illustrations are just perfect companions to each other. I can’t wait to read this with my nephew.

This book's artwork was absolutely beautiful. Following Ida, and you guessed it, a whale on their midnight excursion through the sky.

What stood out most about this picture book was the free verse. It's a beautiful introduction to poetry, The format was unique, really slowing down the reader allowing us to savor every word choice, every word location, and every line. Beautifully done. Beautifully, beautifully done.

This is one that will be read many times over with my children.
