Here we have the second in the "Laws of Attraction Series." I enjoyed the first one, this one leaves me puzzled why I failed to connect. The set-up is cute: He's a cut-throat divorce attorney representing a Very Bad Man and she's the sister of the Wronged Wife. Trinity has to play Mama Bear for her helpless sister while Lucas is torn apart fighting his attraction to Trinity versus his duty to score the win for Very Bad Man.

It's seldom I don't feel any strong reactions to character, plot, or writing, which leaves me little to review. Those who like Kate Meader will probably like this too. I see it's tagged under humor but that escaped me as well. The older woman/younger man "issue," if it is one, was dealt with summarily as was the interracial aspect of their romance. In a way, the reader is set up for conflicts that never emerge. Maybe that's why I had a hard time maintaining interest.

Fun, yet serious. A quick read, perfect while on a holiday, which is when I read this. The characters definitely kept me interested, engaged, and intrigued.

I like all books by this author, at least, so far. :)

I wasn't quite sure how to rate this. I liked the hero and heroine and the fact that the heroine was a WOC and older than the hero. However, I had a hard time with the ethical conflict in the book. The hero knew that there was a conflict, but continued to pursue the heroine. The ethical issue gets resolved in the book. but it could/should have been resolved much earlier. Also, the heroine knew that the hero was representing her brother-in-law in the divorce, but she still got involved with him. I'm an attorney so the ethical conflict probably bothered me more than it would for another reader and made it really difficult for me to get into the book.

That being said, the book has some great banter, especially between the secondary characters. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the series to find out what happened between Aubrey and Grant.

Mini Review:::

I really enjoyed this one!!! Both protagonists were funny and genuine and relatable. I felt that the male lead's feelings were a bit.......abrupt???? In their second conversation, he concludes that they're spending their life together, which he confesses to her. I love insta-love, but this book didn't feel like it was meant to be insta-love. So, that was a bit unsettling to dive directly into.

But overall, this book features a wholesome romance, family, and real laughter :)

I could recommend for anyone wanting to read a quick, sweet love story.

I've read a few books by Kate Meader before, so I'm familiar with her writing. Illegally Yours is funny, sexy, and sniffle inducing. Lucas is a divorce attorney that unexpectedly finds himself falling for his client's sister-in-law. Trinity is used to taking care of everyone else. She finds herself out of her comfort zone when Lucas steps in to take care of her and ends up making her more self aware. I really enjoyed reading this story and seeing both the hero and heroine work through their own self failings to discover the love they have for each other.

Kate Meader’s Illegally Yours is a masterpiece of emotions. Her writing, and this story, made me laugh out loud, swoon at the sweetness, and cry at the heartache. Illegally Yours is a wonderful story of two wounded people, that on paper shouldn’t be together, but can’t fight the feelings developing.

Lucas is a hero with an injured heart. He is gorgeous, has a great job and is involved in the community. He meets Trinity at a bar and is instantly smitten. He tries, very unsuccessfully (and humorously) to woo Trinity. Although he doesn’t walk away with a date, he does leave after having caught Trinity’s eye and her business card.

Trinity is a strong and independent woman. She has spent years taking care of her family, sacrificing taking care of her own wants and needs. Initially she fights off her attraction to Lucas (he is 6 years younger and her sister’s soon to be ex-husband’s divorce lawyer) but she realizes that he could be just what she is looking for...a door back into the dating game and life. What she doesn’t expect is how important Lucas will become to her happiness.

Both characters are impacted by early life events that have forced them to assume certain roles. Lucas is the happy-go-lucky flirt out for a good time and Trinity is the provider ensuring that her family is protected. But below the surface, Lucas & Trinity are suffering. It takes their relationship to open each up to reconciling the past and looking towards the future.

The author creates such wonderful banter between the characters. The story is so engaging that even though I wanted Lucas & Trinity to reach their HEA, I didn’t want the book to end! This was my first Kate Meader book, but it won’t be my last. If you are looking for a fun read that touches your heart, consider Illegally Yours a must read!

Trinity Jones is a gorgeous, strong woman. She thrives in a traditionally male career field as a whiskey sommelier, is a fierce and loving aunt and sister, but is way in over her head when she meets the handsome and cocky Lucas Wright. His charm and astute powers of observation will either wear down her confident facade or build her up. But can she risk all that she's working so hard to hold together? Lucas has everything going for him as a prodigy, hotshot divorce attorney. He's a man on a mission to right the wrongs of hellish matrimony, but meeting Trinity makes him very aware of everything he's actually missing.

Kate Meader is masterful as she spins the story of two souls who might just find all they need to heal their own hidden hurts if they can let down their guards long enough. The cast of characters is rich, loving, and will draw you in. I found myself saying, "I love how she says that," out loud several times. This was a beautiful story woven around me as I immersed myself in the tale of these two and their friends.

Did I mention that I really like the way Kate Meader writes? She's smart, funny, and truly is masterful with the turn of a phrase. If you are interested in witty repartee and outstanding character development, this book will not disappoint.

I loved Trinity and Lucas's story! Each had their issues and baggage from the past. Even though I felt Trinity's went way deeper, she seemed to have a savior complex. I absolutely hated Emily, she was spoiled and selfish. Her bogus apology at the end did nothing for me. But as I said, I loved this book!! I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

LOVED this book! I fell in love with Trinity and Lucas and was totally engrossed in their story - from the unlikely connection to the cheesy lines, this book was wonderful. Trinity is the whiskey woman, who's sister is in the middle of a nasty divorce. While she is doing a whiskey tasting, she meets Lucas and they instantly connect. Then, they later figure out that Lucas is representing her brother-in-law in the divorce, which puts them at cross purposes. This creates some entertaining situations and angst as both Trinity and Lucas struggle to do the right thing while also following their hearts. Both characters have a back story that makes them feel real and their troubles will resonate with readers.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. I enjoyed this novel so much that I'm adding the author to my must read authors' list.

Loved it!! Loving this series! But the books can be read as stand alone! This is Lucas and Trinity book, Lucas is a Hotshot divorce lawyer and trinity does whiskey tastings for events. They meet at Lucas friend bachelor party he's smitten immediately! They both have some problems that carry over from their youth. This book was so freaking funny! But it's also heartbreaking, low drama , high steam, and just a great story! Definitely don't miss out on this one! Thank you Netgalley and penguin random house publishing company and loveswept for sharing this book with me! Thank you Kate Meader for your amazing words!

I think their predicament is indeed a very sticky situation but these two have so much other life issues to deal with. Their very foundation, family life is so realistic and touches the heart. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees, tough love. I like that they are not perfect and their relationship is give and take. I really like their determination, especially Lucas. I also think this touches on how sometimes too much help can cause dependency and stunt maturity. Trinity is so giving, it's time for her to allow herself to receive.

This book blew me away. It was funny, sweet, romantic, and hot. I just loved Lucas and Trinity. From the moment they meant they were drawn to each other. Honestly to me they were complete opposites but they just seemed to fit perfectly together. Trinity was a so in your face person but underneath that I think she just wanted to be loved and excepted for who she was. Lucas was lonely and feeling very guilty for things that happened in the past. Lucas was British so for me it made the book that much better. British words and phases coming out of Lucas mouth just made the book that much more funny and hot. I could not put this book down. It was great to catch up with Max, Charlie and Grant. I would highly recommend this book and this series. Once you start you will not be able to stop. I cannot wait to see what Kate Meader has in store for the next book in this series. I am really hoping the next book will belong to Grant and Aubrey! Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big fan of Kate Meader and love her stories. Sadly, this one really didn't work for me. I had a great deal of difficulty relating to both characters, especially Lucas who took obnoxious to a new limit.
He made it hard to enjoy the story which was actually a great plot and storyline but his behavior was just too much. Trinity I liked but she also brought her own little bit of too much to the story. I liked the secondary characters and remember them from the previous book which was great. This one just wasn't for me. I'm sure others will find Lucas entertaining and enjoy the shenanigans! I look forward to the next book!

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first time reading Meader, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I instantly got swept up in the main character and their arc. On several occasions, the read was laugh-out-loud funny. Definitely pick up this book if you are looking for a fun and easy contemporary romance with a diverse cast of characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Illegally Yours is a fun, sexy and easy read. Trinity a whisky sommelier and Lucas a divorce attorney meet one evening and sparks immediately fly. The characters are flawed but loveable and truly had me rooting for them. Trinty is a strong female lead and not your typical damsel in distress. Lucas is cocky but sensitive and full of complex emotions. The way they are written makes them feel like equals and not like the male character dominating a female.character.

My only complaint being some of the dialogue is a little cheesy and pop culture references will quickly be outdated. (ie: a reference to a Jason Momoa gif)

Over all Illegally Yours was a cute easy read that I enjoyed!

I continue to enjoy the Laws of Attraction series... Ms Meader understands how to draw out characters so that you care about their relationships, both with friends and lovers. These books read like hanging with your best friends. Lucas plays the happy fool and entertainer. Trinity is the ultimate lawnmower parent to her sister. Lucas recognizes her protection is coming from a place of love, but he sees that it's holding her back. When they find themselves with opposite stakes in a legal battle, they will test the boundaries and dig up painful history for each of them.

If there's a con in this one, it's that I honestly hated Trinity's sister. The upside to that though is that there are people in real life like her, which is why I have a strong reaction... So, still a win for Ms Meader for keeping true to life. Lol. I can't wait for the next story... There's a pair in this friend group who need to resolve their feelings, and I'm hoping they're the focus.

I really liked the first book so I was really looking forward to Lucas and Trinity. Unfortunately, it was just okay for me. I couldn't really connect with the characters. I thought the book centered a lot around a divorce that we didn't even get an outcome for. And while I enjoyed the insane attraction between the MCs, I didn't really buy them falling in love. The best part of this book is that they updated the cover to better represent the characters.

I had a harder time connecting with these characters. While I still rooted for them to be together, I didn’t find myself as invested as I have been with the other books I’ve read by Kate Meader. Lucas was sweet and determined to woo Trinity despite being on opposite sides of a divorce case. I liked the progression of their relationship, but at times it felt like it was dragging. I think it also says something that as much as I liked the main characters, the thing that stuck the most with me is the conflict with the side characters.

I really liked Trinity and her need to protect her sister, but it got a bit frustrating at how much she was taken advantage of. I was hoping for a good confrontation or conversation between her and Emily, but the one they had was very quick and it’s hard to believe that it would change Emily’s bad habits, both as a sister and a mother. I would have also liked to learn how the divorce turned out. I know the book wasn’t about Emily and Brian, but their divorce is a big part of the story, and it would have been nice to see it get resolved on the page. Seeing some kind of connection made between Chase and his mom would have been good too. I felt bad for him and what he had to go through while his parents were having a bitter divorce. I was glad that he at least had Trinity to rely on.

Overall this was still a good book, but it just wasn’t my favorite of Kate Meader. I’m really looking forward to Grant and Aubrey’s book though. My anticipation has been growing with every interaction they have.

(Random side not: I seriously love the updated cover!)

Lucas falls for a whiskey sommelier at his friend’s bachelor party, only to discover she’s the sister to his current client’s soon to be ex-wife. Talk about an ethical conundrum!

I’m not usually a fan of the older woman/younger man trope, but Meader won me over with Lucas and Trinity’s quick-witted banter and hot attraction! I loved the sexual tension between the two and admit I giggled when that particular powder keg blew! How Trinity resisted the roguish Lucas as long as she did... Of course, Lucas totally caved first. Trinity’s snarky charm and sass definitely caught his attention!

Trinity and Lucas’s story weighed heavier then Max and Charlie’s, not just because of Trinity’s sister’s divorce and custody battle, but because of Trinity and Lucas’s childhood emotional hurts and scars that lingered. I liked how the playful side balanced out the emotional issues, and loved how it pulled the two closer than either was expecting.

Kate Meader has another winner with Illegally Yours. Granted, there’s little focus on the law aspect. However, with plenty of sexual tension, a Harry Potter obsession, and a wild romance guaranteed to win a cynic over, there’s plenty of compensation to be found!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
