The Amish Sweet Shop Kensington Publishing puts out a lot of high quality Amish fiction that other publishers don't. And the stories are always fodder for a reader's sweet tooth. This collection is no different. In the first novella, the sweet shop's owner played matchmaker between her son and a hired girl. In the second, Sadie feels that she's really too ugly to be courted because of burns from a barn fire. While Valentine's Day is coming soon, little gifts start showing up on the back porch of the quilt shop where Sadie works. Sadie believes her friend and boss is putting the gifts on the stoop, but actually it's Adam who works next door who wants Sadie to take a second look at herself. In the last novella, Hannah loses her husband in a construction accident, she finds out she's pregnant, the owners of the hardware store where she works want to sell the store, a stranger comes in who wants to buy it; but neither Hannah or the stranger have the total down-payment the owners want. The obstacle is the stranger is not Amish, but he was raised Amish and is now faced with the decision if he would actually take the kneeling vow and join the church. This is a five star collection, two thumbs up, and a piece of melt in your mouth fudge. My thanks to Kensington Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book. |
I received this arc of "The Amish Sweet Shop" from NetGallery in exchange for a honest review. Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and authors for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book, I enjoyed reading the different stories from different authors in this book, set in the community of the Amish. Without giving away how each story went, I will say all the stories were well developed, with each character having a sweetness that pulls you in to each story and lets you know love can prevail. If you enjoy reading books about the Amish way of life, you will certainly enjoy this book! |
I enjoyed these four stories and there is something for everyone in this book. However this wasn't my cup of tea. I say this because I don't like different stories in one book they leave you hanging and wanting more. I did drool because in the first story they made candy and I could see myself walking into their shop and watching them make it. I think it's fascinating to watch how they do that! Clara did give a Rose a chance and I could feel the wonderful way she treated her. I think that her son was too much like me wary of strangers and not "needing help" which I thought was kind of rude. God has a way of working people over and changing them. That's what I enjoyed about these stories. They show that there is Hope, Love and Faith. As long as we have Jesus we should never want for nothing but sometimes Satan manages to rear his ugly head. If you like these type of stories I strongly recommend them. Trust me, they'll make you drool lol!! I received a copy from Netgalley. No compensations were received and all opinions are my own |
I requested this e-book from Kingston publishing to read and review. They granted my request for free for me to review The Amish sweet treats is three stories in one from there different authors regarding Bluebird. The first short story is called The Sweetest Courthship by Emma Miller is about centered around a candy shop and how Jacob gets help in the love department from a loving character that wants the best for him. It also comes across the message that love can make two people come together in a fudgey kind of way. The next short story is The Sweetest Truth by Laura Bradford is about a women that works in a quilt shop that feels unloved. This story unfolds and makes Sadie realize that she isn't an ugly duckling that true beauty is in the inside that shines out. And in the third and final short e-story Nothing Taaste so Sweet by author Mary Ellis it's a story about that has tradegy, mystery and love. This story is about how tradegy a beautiful life can happen and that determination can help you see through to what is right. And that maybe in time love can hammer through any storm. This collection of short stories are for any type of reader and can be read any time of the year. |

THE SWEETEST COURTSHIP Jacob Beechy runs the local Candy shop with his mom. But his mom Clara is about to leave in a few weeks and thinks they need help while she is gone. It can’t hurt that she wants Jacob to find a wife and have kids. Rose is hired to help out around the shop. When Clara has to leave early she takes over and tries to help Jacob with the many orders for Valentines day that need to be filled and shipped out. He is not he easiest to get a long with and is harsh as times. Can she get through to him? A cute read of a lovely couple who come together. It was nice to see Jacob start to come out of his shell. They both have lost someone special and it takes them to come together to have a second chance for both. THE SWEETEST TRUTH Sadie was sacred on her face when she was 16 in a barn fire trying to have the horses. She has come to believe she will never get married. Everyone around her is but she can deal with it. She has gotten use to have people stare or turn away. She even has a man taught her each day on the way home. A young man Amos that helps his father next door has waved at her at the quilt shop. But Sadies hurries to turn away. When gifts start to arrive on the back step where she takes her lunch she suspects the mean man is the one behind it. But could it be more? Could she really have an admirer? What if it is Amos? Amos was so caring and truly loved Sadie it was nice to see him help her come to love herself no matter what the scar looked like. She was not ugly in his eyes. NOTHING TASTES SO SWEET Hannah had recently lost her husband and her dreams. She is pregnant and needs to think of herself and her child. She wants to go into a partner ship with Seth who use to live in the Amish community until he was accused of something he did not do. Seth has a falling out with his father when he helped an older lady who thought he stoled him her. Can he get his name cleared and help Hannah or will their dream be put aside? A cute read about people who really care about each other no matter what the situation. Hannah wasn’t to giving up. |

A very good collection of inspirational novellas. I enjoyed each selection as well as each author’s writing. I recommend to fans of inspirational romance. I received an arc from Netgalley and this is my unbiased review. |
This book contains three novellas, all of which are interlinked and set in the same Amish community. I loved all three stories. Each one is very different from the others and each written by different authors. All the characters are well developed. You will fall in love with each one. Definitely a sweet & clean book to read for Valentines day. |
This is a sweet collection of stories that will be wonderful around Valentine's Day! They all center around Beechy's Sweet Shop, with the first story being about the owner himself and the other subsequent stories having an aspect that centers around the shop, too. Each of the couples involved is overcoming some life struggle or issue and there are many 'second chances' involved in the romance. My personal favorite was the second story, which was so unique compared to many of the stories I've read lately. However, all three of them were wonderful and inspiring stories! |

THE AMISH SWEET SHOP. by Mary Ellis. Emma Miller. Laura Bradfor THE SWEETEST COURTSHIP by Emma Miller Clara loved the smell of chocolate in her shop, a sign of contentment. To be gone for three weeks and wanted another person to help in the shop with her son. Then came in Rose, new to the area, and she was perfect for that, and the.other idea she had in mind also. THE SWEETEST TRUTH by Laura Bradford A fire in the barn changed, part of her, and her life. The remarks people make when they look at her face. She has a nice English boss at the quilt shop telling to be out and visible she would find someone. Gifts appear of the steps, a book, a carved bird, thinking it is her boss. Amos is making sure she gets home safely, without anyone hackling her. Who was the giver of the gifts NOTHING TASTES SO SWEET by Mary Ellis Daniel and Hannah saving for their own farm, when tragic struck . Alone with a baby coming, she returns to her job. Now hearing of the hardware shop was for sale, she is wanting to buy it. First, a man’s name needs to be cleared. With plans on a partnership, faith and maybe love All three stories were delightful to read, with hope, to see their dreams fulfilled. Given ARC by Net Galley and Kensington for my voluntary review and my honest opinion. |
I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher, as I do not regurgitate the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it! It’s almost Valentine’s Day, the busiest time of the year at Beechy’s Sweets, where the Amish gifts of love and faith are even sweeter than the home-made candy. THE SWEETEST COURTSHIP National Bestselling Author Emma Miller At age thirty-six, Jacob Beechy is a rarity—a master candy maker, and a bachelor. His mother, however, still hopes for grandchildren. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, she convinces Jacob he will need extra help in the shop and interviews a string of applicants—for his future wife . . . THE SWEETEST TRUTH National Bestselling Author Laura Bradford Sadie Fischer has accepted that she will never marry. Her scars from a barn fire are a daily reminder of why. So when she receives mysterious gifts leading up to Valentine’s Day, including chocolate from Beechy’s, she’s bewildered—yet curious. Sadie may not think she’s pretty, but there’s a young man who sees only sweetness when he looks at her . . . NOTHING TASTES SO SWEET Award-Winning Author Mary Ellis Pregnant and suddenly widowed, Hannah must give up the dreams she once had. But when she learns that her longtime English employer plans to sell his hardware store, she’s determined to buy it. She doesn’t realize that will mean following a clue from Beechy’s to clear a man’s name—and finding a partnership in work, faith, and love . . . I love a good, clean, Amish story and this one made me smile (and crave carbs and sugar and chocolate and all things sweet that I am not allowed to eat on a Ketogenic diet!) The stories as sweet as the candies in the shop - very, very enjoyable AND carb and calorie free! |
This is such a good book. All three stories are very well written and holds your attention till the end. I can't wait to read more books from this series. Thank you Kensington Books via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion. |
