A great uplifting read and such a fantastic reminder about our Creator and that we should daily live with joy. I'll be buying this one as gifts for a few friends.

I love this book, I think we, as women, tend to worry a lot and we can lose our joy very quickly, we tend to let our emotions in the drivers seat and just go with it. Even if I knew that joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit, I never realized that joy doesn’t have to depend on how I feel. I can have joy regardless of how I feel or my circumstances, and that is a big thing for us as women of God. We have to let go of our feelings and connect our heart to God, so we could have everlasting joy, hope, love, not short term emotions.
I love the book, It gave me a different perspective over my feelings and the fruit of the Spirit

This is a great book that puts into perspective the difference between happiness that changes with our circumstances and the joy that comes from the Lord and defies all circumstances. Such a great read!

I really love the concept of defiant joy. I want to be defiantly joyful in the midst of pain and the chaos of everyday life. However, this book promised big things and falls regrettably short. The author is overwhelmingly negative. For a book about joy, I just didn't see it within these pages or from the author.
Another issue I have with this book is the authors choice of using false teachers such as Sarah Young, the author of Jesus Calling. I just cannot trust anything from an author who quotes false teachers as good examples to follow.
I cannot recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

If you feel like you have lost your "Joy", grab this book. This is the first book I've read by Stasi Eldredge and I really enjoyed it. This is a book I will read more than once. Thank you Nelson Books for the free copy. This is my honest opinion.

I am reviewing a copy of Defiant Joy through Nelson Books and Netgalley:

we are called to live but not only to live but to live with joy.

We all spend a lot of energy reaching for happiness, we are never able to hang on to it though. Real life gets in the way and we are taken on an emotional roller coaster ride. The Bible’s calls us to “be joyful always” which sounds almost crazy—and out of reach. But it doesn’t have to be.

We are meant to have joy, it is meant to be ours, meant to be defiant in the face of a broken world. Joy is not happiness on steroids it is the unyielding belief that sorrow and grief are not going to get the final say. Defiant joy is the stubborn determination to be present no matter what comes and to interpret both goodness and grief by the light of Heaven.

Defiant Joy is perfect for group or individual study on what Joy against all odds truly means. It is broken down into easy to manage and understand travels so it would work for new believers as well as long time believers.

I give Defiant Joy five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Love the idea of "Defiant Joy", and thought that Stasi Eldredge did a fantastic job. Especially appreciated the time and consideration given to expounding on the difference between changeable happiness and lasting, God-centered JOY.

For me, there was a bit too much time spent on personal anecdotes and side notes; while they're great, the actual content was so great, that I found myself occasionally skimming through them to get to the "good stuff".

This book is just so much goodness in a small amount of pages! I loved reading this and feeling so uplifted. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to further their walk with God.
