This book is absolutely gorgeous and would make a wonderful gift for anyone interested in herbalism. It's also something I would absolutely buy for myself, because it has a lot of great content. Everything is laid out beautifully and there are plenty of lovely photographs that really add value.

The book is laid out in three main sections: how to prepare herbal remedies, how to plant a herbal garden, and then a section on the uses of herbs. I have many books that contain similar information to the last part, but what makes this invaluable is the first two parts. A lot of herbals, particularly antique ones, say 'make a tisane/decoction/tincture' without ever explaining what that is - but here, Groves has easy step-by-step guides to how to do all these different things with herbs. There are clear pictures, easy to follow instructions, and kit lists for the things you will need. Having this information in one place is so very handy, and I will definitely be coming back to reference this.

The gardening advice is also good, and it's nice to have a book that focuses on growing specific kinds of herbs with easy reference points for what they like best. The plans for gardens which focus on different ailments are really unique and helpful. The dictionary of herbs at the back is high-quality, with clear, sensible information laid out well and easy to find.

One note: I know this is a proof copy and therefore not the final text, but there are a lot more spelling errors and omitted words than I would expect at this stage of a manuscript! It needs a really heavy proof before being finalised.

Overall, though, this is the perfect guide for any budding herbalist. I'm going to buy a physical copy when it's out so I can have it on hand, as I see it getting a lot of use!

This is a great book for beginners and even as a reference for more advanced readers.  I found a few new herbs that I had not herd of with a lot of information on their backgrounds and some recipes and recommendations that were very easy to follow.  The book is well-organized with a lot of recipes and growing instruction or limitations.  If you love gardening and herbal medicine this is a good one-stop book for information on herbs.

As someone living with a chronic illness, I have made it my mission to research ways to maintain a healthier lifestyle without the use of costly and counterproductive pharmaceutical drugs with their ever growing list of side effects. I took that route for many years and felt like I was only existing, not living. Then, I was introduced to medicinal herbs, and they worked for me. They gave me back my life. This book especially has so many herbal remedies that I was not aware of and they look very promising. The author’s step by step guide is easy to understand and execute. I plan to include many of these in my “remedy garden” to address my own health issues.

Grow Your Own Herbal Remedies is a great resource and very highly recommended for anyone looking to maintain a healthier, and most importantly, a natural drug free way of life.

This beautifully photographed volume shows readers everything they need to know about creating tinctures, slaves and teas to soothe mind, body and spirit. Learn how to plant, grow and harvest the herbs that will be the most useful for healing. Then how to prepare the remedies and how and when to use them. This book makes me want to throw away everything in my medicine closet and start over with natural remedies.

If you are into making your own medicines with herbs, this book is a must-have. It has a small part about how to grow herbs but the biggest part belongs to the different uses of herbs for medicines. Different techniques are explained, step by step and lots of recipes are afterwards shown for you to make. Impressive!
