Louisa has always been linked with her author sister Jazz but when Jazz's life us going from strength to strength Louisa also an author has writers bock and is starting to realise that her boyfriend might not be the HEA she dreamed of.

With a deadline looming Louisa's agent Co.es up with an idea why not hole herself up in her cottage in Devon. Louisa realises this could be just what she needs, so dumping her boyfriend she leaves the chic life in London and heads for a holiday in Devon

What happens when she wants the holiday to never end can a cosmopolitan girl survive in the wilds of Devon.

I loved this book, and I loved the story arc for the characters, the Lo don characters were very believable must admit wanted to slap Benedict a few times. But loved the Devon characters Joe is very much how I would expect a Devon farmer to be and his deadpan reactions to Louisa's many mishaps really added to the humour of the story.

Definitely a book worth reading.

I finally got around to reading ‘The Mini-Break’ and it was my first read by Maddie.

Louisa is a writer who heads to Devon with her sister Jassy as they both struggle to write their books, due to the many distractions. When Louisa and her sister head back to London Louisa realised that her boyfriend Benedict is really taking advantage of her. He thinks he’s doing his bit by paying just one bill but it’s clear he thinks he can get what he wants and Louisa’s happiness suffers. She then makes the decision to go back to Devon on her own to focus on writing her book whilst she puts her London flat in Notting Hill on the market and kicks Benedict out (go Louisa!) She meets a single dad farmer in Devon and I don’t blame Louisa for wanting to be there!

I enjoyed the narrative of how Louisa was feeling about her life. The fact she realises what she wants and goes for it with sheer determination and most importantly putting herself first. If you need to curl up with an uplifting story then this one is for you. I am definitely going to be reading more of Maddie’s books in the future. I give ‘The Mini-Break’ 4*/5* 😊

Thank you to Avon Books for an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley.

I was excited to pick up this book as the reviews I saw were really good. However, it wasn’t the book for me. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and I didn’t love the author’s writing style. I was thankful it was a quick read, or else I’m not sure I would have wanted to finish reading the book otherwise.

I should have read this book so much sooner, I feel like this was another quirky book that I got the privilege to read this month during quarantine. It definitely made everything easier and I totally recommend this.

The main thing I want to say is that after reading “The Mini-Break” I desired a country house and a gorgeous Joe with broad shoulders who stands by me. Like the main character of this story, Louisa Darling I’d like to to give up the noisy town and a shallow life in the city to search a quieter life in the country.

To be honest I have to say it is a story very predictable, however there is something to catch you and although you could guess what happens next, you can’t help but read one more page and another.

“The Mini-break” is a delightful read for this Summer sunbathing in the beach.

“The Mini Break” took me by surprise and totally delighted me. When I looked at the premise for this book, I thought “Oh no, do I really want to read another novel that’s set in Devon?”

I’m so glad that I went ahead and read it anyway as I would have missed out if I hadn’t. Although predictable, this story was a very easy read, with great heart.

I was hugely entertained by “The Mini Break” from beginning to end and with its sense of fun, it provided some frothy and gleeful escapism. I intend to read more by the author, Maddie Please. Rating: 5 Stars

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel at my own request from Avon Books UK via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

The story is set at a beautiful location and the best parts were when the main character Lulu discovered her rural surroundings.
The plot is not really original, but still enjoyable despite the fact that it is quite predictable.
I could not truly warm towards the Darling sisters. I especially could not understand Lulu's horrible life choices. Luckily she met a very loveable man in the end and the story had a happy ending.
It is a lighthearted and easy read so I can recommend to anybodí who craves some escapism.

I enjoyed this story - a nice easy read, working towards the ending that you wanted from the start but moved at a nice pace.

While the book was predictable it was easy to read and I did enjoy reading it. It was one of them books that you find hard to put down as there are a few curve balls during the story

An enjoyable romcom. Lulu is a romantic novelist who, suffering from apparent writers block, decides to take to a bolt hole in Devon - returning back to London she yearns for a return to the countryside. It's a fun and frothy read and provides some light hearted escapism.

The story of Louisa, an author who is spending a lot of time in Devon away from her life in London.

Although I enjoyed the book, I was expecting more of an end to the book.
