This book is not for everyone.
If you are very religious, and/or don't like books that may express an opinion different to yours, then don't read this.

This book talks about several subjects, namely nature, religion, science, knowing yourself and being responsible for your actions. These topics are commented by the author with his opinion and criticism.

I don't agree with everything the author says, but I did enjoy reading this book. The author's opinions are very clearly stated and without holding back.

"It doesn't matter to reality what people convince themselves is true. But it does matter"

The Beatin' Path was honestly a very curious text. As a concept I was delighted, this collection of prose delves into complex questions of morality and evolution, facts and religion yet does so in a whimsical, storytelling way that you keep reading page after page. This was coupled with illustrations that well-complemented the text and provided a lovely pause in the questions being contemplated. The book encourages us to evaluate facts, reality, beliefs and thought with plenty of historical and contemporary examples woven throughout, and has a remarkable ability to present fact and history yet continue to be lyrical and full of wordplay.

Whilst there was a decent variation in the stories I loved and those I didn't particularly enjoy, as a whole this collection was a pleasant read that asks us to strive to uncover the truth, wherever it might be.
