The premise of this book was very interesting but I don't feel like it lived up to its potential. This is for many reasons: it was just too short to really get to know the characters, the girls were just annoying as heck, it seemed to skip from one chapter to the next in a haphazard way, and it was really violent and gory, which I wasn't expecting. All in all, I didn't click with this book at all.

The writing style just wasn't for me. I had to force myself to get through it. There was much going on and it was rather boring.

The premise of this story sounded so fascinating and right up my alley. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. While it definitely had promise, it could have been much improved by lengthening the novel, fleshing out most of the scenes and characters. Really, the main reason I finished reading it was because it was so short. Overall, while it wasn't the worst book I ever read, I wasn't a fan.

I'm sorry that this book just wasn't for me. I had a hard time becoming invested in the story and some of the writing was really hard to follow. I'm giving it 2 stars because I think that there is potential here and also that others may find it enjoyable.

This was one of those books that everyone was tslking about leading up to its release due to its amaxing cover. I was so excitec to get stuck into this book but life kept getting in the way. Finally after two sleeplesd night I am done and Wow ! I often avoid books which have large hype as I am often left disappointed. Not this week ...having recently gotten back into the shadowhunters series - I was looking for something similar in a book that also explored good and evil and the underword. Loved it ! Thank you so much

This felt like an introduction to the characters and story. There weren't really any character development in the 175 pages there were. The ending was fast but I felt like it lacked action. The scene where the guys got revenge, I couldn't tell whose POV it was. It wasn't distinct enough it also didn't show that it changed POV's. One thing I did like was the history aspects.

Something weird happened with my laptop and a lot of my downloads disappeared, including this and other Netgalley ARCs I had not yet gotten around to, but are now archived and not available to re-download... I am sadness

Let me start out by saying that I had high hopes for this book, as the premise of the story was so interesting. Had the execution been there as well, this could have been a gem. As it is, there was just too much that went wrong, it left me wishing I skipped it completely.

We follow the story of the Immortal Girls from the start, getting introduced to each girl and their starting point into immortality, being the five chosen ones from before birth, which we get told so often, we will never forget it. Then suddenly three male characters get introduced halfway through the story, fast, without well-executed history or any real reason for them being there except to further a plotline. There are time jumps and character jumps suddenly, without warning or indication as to who is being jumped to or whether it is past or present that you are reading. This had me scrambling to figure out what I'm reading, and re-reading sections when I figure it out.

While the initial story was great, with well thought out backgrounds and good reasons for the girls to want to be Immortal Girls with purpose, the male characters had only revenge on their minds. They are quite literally just there and could have been omitted from the narrative and there would have still been a story without them.

I liked the detour that was given with the serial killer and how he mysteriously just disappeared. The writing was also good, although there is room for improvement (as always). Here I got a lot of repetitive information that was unnecessary, unanswered questions and a rushed conclusion that contradicts the beautiful build up of the story. Things got jumbled up - like the author had too much story left to tell to cram into the second half of the book. I would have preferred that she took her time with the building of the male plotlines, rather adding a second novel into the mix, and adding some additional twists to keep her readers guessing.

There were some romances in this book that was done so well, believable and honest. Then there are some that just happen, instantly, and again without any real reason except as an afterthought to the initial story, just for the sake of saying there is romance, sloppy and cringe-worthy. This was an emotional flip-flop, could have been done better, with more information and better plot progressions.

If this author ever decides to re-write this story and add some additional flare and sparkle, I would be sure to re-read the book in the hopes that a better story and ending is written.

If I could give this book zero stars I would. I have never read such horrible, nonsensical drivel outside of the prepubescent ramblings of Twihards on Wattpad. Run, don't walk, far, far away from this God-awful garbage and save yourself. Because the two hours I wasted reading this stupid book is the equivalent of 2 years of my life I'm never getting back.

This broke my heart. Seriously. I was looking forward to reading this. Look at this gorgeous cover! It's what caught my attention. The synopsis got me.

With that being said, the idea and concept were great! However, I just couldn't connect with any of the characters at all. Too short. There were some words which were repetitive and unnecessary. A one thousand-year-old girl acting so childish is unbelievable. Many factors made me cringe a lot as I read on. The ending felt too rushed.

I applaud the author for taking the courage to be self-published. However, before being published, this book needed an editor, mentor, beta readers, and so forth for this book to be successful.

If this book were rewritten and edited, I'd give it another shot reading it.

I had some issues with this book, the main one being how gory it was. I wasn't expecting it at all, and it was so weird because our main characters were these sweet girls but once they "had" to kill someone (it was mainly vengeance) they would take someone's eye out and the blood would explode, very graphic and gross for me.

Talking about the main characters, they were all so childish that it was almost impossible to picture them as people capable of protecting the entire world. The only one I liked a bit more was Rachel, but since it's a super short book we didn't actually got to know her.

Then, we have the most severe case of instalove I've ever read. It was so random and unbelievable. The thing tho is that sometimes I don't have a problem with instant attraction (because instalove doesn't exist) but in this one we had zero explanation as to why they immediately liked each other. Lastly, we spent the first 50% of the book as a huge introduction to the girls' story. I think considering this book is so short the story should have been focus enterily on the past or what the girls were living now. Because by having both story lines, everything felt rushed and lacking depth.

However, there were a couple of things that I did actually enjoyed. For instance, there's an f/f love story that truly touched my heart, it had some instalove vibes too but not as strongly as the one I mentioned earlier. I think this is one of the romantic partners that I'll never forget.

Having this in mind, Immortal Girls has a lot of representation. It has lesbian characters, a deaf character (even though I didn't like how that one was handled) and some characters with PTSD.

All in all, this book had a lot of flaws but if you're interested in a cute short f/f romance you may like this book, just keep in mind that that story is a small percentage of the entire book.

I was not able to finish this book. The writing style was not for me. Although a young adult book, it seemed very juvenile and obvious.

As I read Immortal Girl5, I kept in mind that this is a young adult novel. This means that I gave it a few passes in areas that I normally would have come down hard on. Young adult novels are often hit or miss with me and that is more that I am not in the intended age range than any fault of the novel itself. However, even with the passes I gave, Immortal Girls5 still doesn't work well. A few rounds with beta-readers and editors would have been very beneficial.

I agreed to read the book because of the promise of kick-ass young women doing battle throughout history. I didn't get as much of that as I would have liked, but I did appreciate that the author included some recognizable historical figures into the novel. However, the scenes involving these characters are not developed and the author loses an opportunity there. I appreciated the author's attempt at adding some diversity to the story and was sad when they took some of that away. I think if they would have kept one of the sisters the way she was pre-immortality, it would have added to the book.

Once we hit the present, the dialogue is sometimes perfect and you see flashes of what the author could be capable of with further practice. There's a scene (and a question) involving Die Hard that made me giggle a bit. However, it also starts to feel really rushed once we hit the present, and the story suffers for it. (There's also an absence of scene breaks/formatting which make it difficult to read at this point.)

Overall, the writing is enthusiastic, but clunky. Things are overlooked that distract from the story (like a magically disappearing noose, a zipper appearing 400 years before they were actually invented). It reads quickly, and there is plenty of action. However, the dialogue is frequently awkward and doesn't fit with the earlier time periods much at all. My biggest problem, though, is that the story is too rushed, and not nearly enough time is taken with developing it. This is a good seed of a story, but some things you just can't rush. Immortal Girl5 has potential, but it desperately needs some attention from a good editor before it can reach it.

I really enjoyed this book I got on Netgalley. In the story, five girls become Immortal Girls. One is picked up after being friends with Joan of Arc, so we meet Joan and her French army. Two are pulled out of a concentration camp where none other than Anne Frank is on her death bed. I enjoyed the bits of history scattered in the story, and the fact the girls were set forth to help humanity keep itself in check.

Five girls who have been given either a gift or curse of immortality. This book is very short its only 176 pages. It was almost like a ten year old could have written it with some of the wording. The whole backstory was jumbled in with some of the present. The ending was forced and abrupt.

Immortal girls was a title I excitedly picked up with nothing but enthusiasm. Sadly, though, this would be misplaced. The story is one of a group of immortal girls who are tasked with fighting evil in a historical context.

Normally this would be the kind of book I would eat up, but something about the writing stye missed the mark for me. There were a number of times when I firmly disliked the writing in a way that was hard to move past.

One of the first things I noticed when picking up this book was that the prologue felt misplaced and could/should have been deleted or changed. It doesn't compel the reader to continue reading and, at times, in fact, does the opposite.

The childlike perspective of Skylar loses me in that it seems unrealistic and to have been written without the author having ever been around children. With this in mind though, there were moments in Rachel's perspective that caught my attention and managed to hold it, if only for a short while.

Descriptions in this book fell flat and needed more sensory details to ground the reader in the otherwise bland settings that never came to life. Along with these issues, there was the ever present dialogue that often sounded stiff just like the characterizations presented.

The author included an excessive amount of info dumping that is daunting to any reader looking to start this particular novel. The events also, maybe because of the previous fact, feel disjointed and unconnected. There were blatant spelling and grammar errors littering the pages which work to pull the reader out of the story.

Overall this style of writing creates no connection between us as the reader and the story that is being told. I wanted to like this book for its historical context and, admittedly, the beauty of the cover, but it fell short of my expectations. The concept itself is good and actually peeked my interest enough to pick it up, but when I opened the book I was sadly left with flat characters and a plot that never intrigued me enough to actually want to continue.

Immortal Girls is a sci-fi novel by author, Griffin Stark. The story features five girls who have been granted the gift, or curse, of immortality.

The girls are sought out and saved from dire situations by immortal couple, Alistair and Isabelle. They are then offered immortality and each accepts. Their new purpose is to promote goodness, reject evil and fight injustice.

Skylar is the first Immortal Girl and can communicate with animals. Rachel is the second girl converted and is given the ability to heal. Next is Caitlin, who is a survivalist and expert archer. The final two girls are twins, Bethany and Beth, who become experts in weaponry.

The blurb for this book had me eager to add it to my read shelf. Unfortunately, Immortal Girls, did not meet my expectations. The premise of this novel is sound and would have been compelling, had it been properly executed. The narrative is disjointed and difficult to follow. There are confusing transitions and a lack of continuity. The characters, though fully-developed, are not believable. Simply put, there are too many ideas for a novel this short. I did appreciate that historical figures, Jack the Ripper, Hitler, Anne Frank and Joan of Arc were smoothly interwoven into the storyline.

Overall, I was not impressed and cannot recommend this novel. I rate it 2 out of 5 stars.
