Thank you Netgalley and Twilight Press for the opportunity to review this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book from beginning to end was spectacular. It's like what if Mare from Red Queen encounters Jacob from Twilight and then meets the Royal werewolf family and fights for the ultimate reign, winner takes all and loser is forced to die. Every page was a new adventure and just when you thought the story is going one direction, it immediately switches gears and takes a whole new turn. Edge of your seat action that will make you keep reading until the end. Olivia Wildenstein did a brilliant job with this story and I am really hoping this will turn into a series because it will circulate very well at our library. We will definitely consider adding this title to our YFantasy collection at the library. That is why it's an honor to give this book 5 stars. |
I requested to read this via Net Galley as an ARC to Twilight Press and would like to thank them for accepting me and for allowing me to read this. I enjoyed this book, it was very well written and fast paced and quick to the point and the story was very engrossing that I had soon read 100 pages. There were never times where nothing really happened that wasn't important, something was constantly happening within this book which I liked. It was definitely a fun read and I will be reading the next book when that comes out. I loved the story about Ness coming back to the world that she used to know before her and her mother decided to leave. I did wish for a little more information on her backstory whilst she was still away from Boulder however. I think this would of made her having to return back to there a little more dramatic. I do have a few criticisms about this however, one being that I couldn't truly get a picture of how Ness looked like in my mind, I felt that she wasn't described enough to me only that she had blonde hair and blue eyes. And even then that was towards the end of the book, I felt she was better described in her wolf form than in her human form and just wished that I as the reader was given a little more to imagine about her appearance. The second was Liam's character, he was very possessive over Ness and I really didn't like how he was man handling her all of the time. "He grabbed my arm" "He pulled me inside" I really didn't like that especially when it was happening quite a lot. And with the event that happened in his house when he was basically sexually harassing Ness because he believed that she was a prostitute really made me dislike his character somewhat. Sometimes I would like him and others I wouldn't. He was jealous, possessive, accusing Ness of being a prostitute a lot of the time and constantly wanting to know why she was around other men and who they were to her. Even so much as asking her who she went to a nightclub with and if they were male or female. What the heck has that got to do with anything? I know that wolves in novels are quite hot headed and possessive but this was just a different level of it. This isn't behavior that I like to read about the potential love interest!! I loved the plot twist, It wasn't what i was expecting and this is what redeemed it some more for me despite the uncertainty i had about certain characters and their personalities. Over all I'm really glad that I was given the opportunity to read this, I hope that Liam will be more relaxed in the next book and i can't wait to find out what happens next. I Would certainly recommend this book to other people because it is a great read especially if you love wolves and supernatural tales. |

I didn’t know how to rate this book. Because I had one big problem during the whole book - the existence of werewolves was not exactly a secret but it was neither publicly known.... They tried to keep this information safe from some people but on the other site their girlfriends knew that they were werewolves. This was very confusing for me and I almost abandoned the book in the beginning but... the romance had me hooked. It was fun and very enjoyable. That’s the reason I give this book 4 stars. I’ve read it in one sitting, so it deserves this rating. Big thanks to author and publisher for this ARC. |
Exciting werewolf story with lots of twists and turns. Perfect for lovers of slow-burn romance. Can't wait to see where the story goes from here. |

A Pack of Blood and Lies is werewolf YA fiction at its finest. Ness is a teenage werewolf shunned by her pack. When circumstances force her to associate with her pack again, she uncovers secrets and lies, which lead her to compete to become the pack alpha. There are fantastic feminist vibes to this story, which made it unique and enjoyable. It also has elements of a potential love triangle, tons of family/pack drama, and lots of mystery. |
Thank you to Twilight press for the arc of this amazing book! I loved it from beginning to end, never guessed the twist, not even an inkling. I look forward to the next books in the series, it’s going to be a long wait, but so worth it! |
This book was such a fun read! Wonderful storyline and all the secrets revealed throughout the book had me hooked! I really liked Ness and her strong personality. She's opinionated and stubborn and doesn't let the all male wolf pack intimidate her. The other characters were developed pretty well and I really hope we find out more about August. I'll definitely be continuing on with this series and can't wait for the next book! I received a free ARC from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review. |

Thank you to netgalley for advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions however are my own. I really enjoyed this book!. The book is fast paced fun read. We follow Ness and her journey of finding a home. She is a werewolf that doesn't know where she belongs after her tomultuose past comes back to haunt her. I really like how real safe felt specially for her age and everything she has gone through. She acted her age just a little less stupid. I did find a few problems that I will go more in detail once the book releases. I highly recommend it though for those looking for a fun urban fantasy to read! |
This is my very first Olivia Wildenstein book and you bet I'm kicking myself for not reading her books sooner. A Pack of Blood and Lies was such a delightful read! I love Ness' mindful recklessness and the simmering attraction with Liam. The writing was very addictive. And although there really wasn't much when it came to the action aspect of the book, I was never bored. I've read tons of werewolf books but this one has to be one of my top favorites. There was just something about it that really captured my interest- might be the romance, might be hot, sexy Liam, might be Ness' fiery personality, might be the secrets, deceit and mysteries shrouding the story.. the list goes on and on. But whatever it was, I honestly don't care because I LOVE the book so much. Flew thru this in one sitting and the sleepless night was so worth it! Now excuse me while go find another Olivia Wildenstein book to devour. I received an e-arc to read and review. All opinions are my own. |
