At some point in my life I got stuck in saying the same prayer every night, sometimes adding in extra prayers and words when certain situations arise but I felt guilty about reaping the same prayer but also felt if I didn't I would miss something that I needed prayers for. This 5 minute prayer devotional is very helpful in breaking that cycle.

I did not feel this book lived up to the title. Disappointed. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.

I enjoyed the concept behind this and taking a few minutes daily for prayer. I am not a KJV user so I often felt disconnected. Overall it was a great way to help me bring back purposeful prayer to my day.

The devotions and scripture in this five-minute prayer plan can be a great way to focus on prayer sometime through your day. I liked the chosen topics and scriptures, as well as the questions and prayers that are in with each day’s reading. There are specific one-minute steps to the plan to help keep you focused. This is a good tool for individual daily devotions or could also be used with a small group during a prayer time. I am looking forward to using this book during my own devotional time.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

The 5-Minute Prayer Plan for Women by Vickie Phelps is a wonderful tool to help you pray. Each day contains scripture, prayer points, and a prayer jumpstarter. While this is a wonderful tool it will definitely take you more that five minutes each day.

The scripture that begins each new topic is fairly long. The prayer points are extremely well-written filled with thoughts and questions to really make you think. The prayer jumpstarter could essentially be used as an entire prayer because it to is of very good size.

While this is not a quick read, I still highly suggest it. In fact, I suggest you really take your time with this book. I think a prayer journal would be extremely helpful while going through this book. I liked to answer all the questions in the prayer points in writing. Not only does help you to think on them more, but it also gives you something to look back on.

I give the book 4 out of 5 stars. The only flaw I found in this entire book is the claim that each topic should take only 5 minutes. It is a wonderful tool and well worth the time.

Prayer is hard for many Christians. It is for me. I have a list and I go through it but after few days it seems like I am just repeating myself. Phelps has written this book to help people like me to think about my faith life and have a few topics to pray about. Her idea is to spend a minute on a Scripture she gives, two to three minutes thinking about the prayer prompts and then a couple of minutes prayerfully reading through a written prayer she has provided.

I like the thought provoking questions Phelps gives after the Scripture. Those questions are not prayer prompts but good questions. For example, on the day, Love Not The World, Phelps asks us how we keep from loving the world and the things of the world and where we draw the line. She then asks how we keep God first in our lives. After a few more questions, she gets to the prayer prompt, to ask God to direct us in making decisions about life. Then another thought provoking question about how we abide in Christ and then the written prayer. (Loc 324/1372)

I like the format. I think it would be best for Christians who journal as most of the questions are great prompts for journaling. I think the title may be a misnomer. I expected more specific prayer prompts rather than so many open ended kinds of questions. I also think one should spend more than five minutes on each topic. Some of the Scriptures given are in the KJV which may be a hindrance to younger readers.

I recommend this book to Christians who are looking for thought provoking questions through which to journal. There are some to pray about but it seems the emphasis of the questions in the book are more reflective, perfect for journaling.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I love the idea of this book. I was looking for some guidance in my prayer life and hoped this might help me.

This is a great resource for someone who is probably new in their faith. For me it lacked what I was looking for.

I didn’t like that is used the KJV for scripture. I ended up looking the scriptures up in my own Bible because I just can’t connect with KJV.

It is a quick little thing you can do each day, so if you are looking for something that is quick this might be what you are looking for. It just wasn’t for me.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley.com. All opinions are my own.

I chose this book because I thought it would help me grow in my prayer life. I was intrigued by the title. I'm all for anything that will help me pray and I thought it was going to present a plan (as the title seems to indicate) that would take 5 minutes and help me be more effective.
I feel that this book is titled incorrectly. It doesn't really have a prayer plan. It didn't teach me new strategies for praying. Most of it isn't even focused on prayer. This book is much more of a daily devotional...like the kind I'd pick up at church that had a reading for each day. There's a verse to read followed by several points to think about and apply. Each day ends with a prayer on that topic.
The prayers were very fresh and felt like you're just having a conversation with the Lord. I liked that. For instance, in a devotional on worry, the prayer starts out, "Lord, I'm worried about so many things. What are we going to do about the bills we need to pay....I know we haven't always made good decisions in the past, but I'm asking you to help us get through this tough time..." (location 1072). It's easy to pray the same rote words so the example of sharing from our hearts to the Lord felt very authentic. That was the high point of the book for me.
The easy language of the prayers made me wonder why a lot of the verses were written in the King James Version. That distracted me a bit.
All in all, it's a fine book if you're looking for a devotional. I just felt it didn't deliver on what the title promised. Thank you to Barbour Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with an e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This daily reading plan provides a minute by minute break down of how to engage in 5 minutes of prayer each day. The first minute is scripture reading to inspire your prayer. Prayer prompts and questions are given for minutes 2 and 3. A “jump start prayer” is provided for minutes 4 and 5.

In the book, this formula is given that is quite simple and can be expanded on easily. It allows you to get started but leaves you the opportunity to go beyond. The readings are short and sweet but introduce how to enjoy having a meaningful prayer life. I enjoyed the questions very much as they provoked me to think more on each passage of scripture read. I don’t enjoy reading the KJV but its not a deal breaker for me.

If you are looking for something to change up your prayer life this is defiantly a book to check out.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion which I share here.

I can't say enough good things about this book!! This is a "Must Have" to improve your prayer life. I love how each day starts out with bible readings, then prayer points and questions to think about, and then a prayer to help you get started praying. This book is so easy to understand. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Barbour Publishing via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
