I have been enjoying this apocolyptic series, although this book didn't thrill me as much as the first one. I'll be looking out for book number 3.

I adored this book, possibly even more than the first in the series which I didnt think was possible. Where as the first book was very hardcore dystopian, complete with the compulsory trek across the country to find a better life (which is my favorite trope) this second book in the series was very much a fantasy.
Magic! The chosen one! Magic school! Wizard masters! It was incredible. With much of the same old characters and set several years after the end of the first book. I could not put this book down and loved every second of it. It was like meeting up with a group of old friend that I loved dearly.
I loved the pacing of this series, with quietly interesting moments and startling fight scenes this was the perfect blend of emotion and action.
Recommended to all!!!

I loved the first book in this series (Year One) and couldn't wait to read Of Blood and Bone. Absolutely fantastic to join the character's on their journey to save the world. I can't wait for the next!

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the book in exchange for an honest review.
Of Blood and Bone was the second book in the trilogy, Chronicles of the One by Nora Roberts. Both books are full of magic, mystery, love, life and death. Book 2 is the one where Fallon takes on her role as the On, who can lead everyone towards the light and when everyone will be able to live in peace, wherever they choose to live.
It is a spellbinding story of good and evil.
Highly recommended.

Nora Roberts has always been a favourite of mine, and she never disappoints. This book is just as good as her others, she never faults and the story was so engrossing and interesting I couldn't put it down.

I didn’t want to finish this book as I know i’ll Have to wait for the final part. Time has passed since the Doom and the people of New Hope have got into a way of life that must go on. Fallon and her family the same but they know the time will come when they have to fight the darkness and send Fallon away to train and learn as she is “The One”. Whether she wants to be or not. People must come together magical or not and fight to save the world and see the light. An enthralling read that I couldn’t put down.

Nora Roberts is definitely one of my favourties , but ill not lie I was unsure that she gone off on some whacky road trip with this new series but as usual I thought give it a try and see what happens as with the first in the series it didnt disappoint, I still prefer her normal novels but I enjoyed it and was fun to get out of reality for a couple of days.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, when it came out and could not put it down.
This book, is more difficult to get into, because of the years that have elapsed since the end of book one, and does suffer a bit from "second book in the trilogy" issues.
Having said that, I did find it enjoyable, liked the twist at the end, and am looking forward to the final book in the series.

‘Of Blood and Bone’ is a treat. I am not saying that because I am a fan, but this book has such an amazing plot and diverse characters.

Fallon knows she is the ‘The One’. Now, she needs to hone her powers and rise into a smart, powerful individual. And that’s what Roberts delivers. Fallon is smart, confident, stubborn and always eager to learn.

We also get to meet characters from the first book, who have built a community for themselves. These people have dedicated their lives to protect people and build a new world from scratch. It was such a happy moment to read about all these characters and the epic reunion.

The story has magic, mythical creatures from Irish mythology and a lot of fighting and saving people. The characters are so refreshing, even when they are repetitive, and the plot is thrilling and indulging. Each chapter brings something new and I enjoyed every minute of it.

‘Of Blood and Bone’ is a book about reaching one’s full potential, the responsibilities of a protector, a family that is loving and caring, and friends who would die for each other.

Excellent book! Loved the characters and it was a great storyline. I would highly recommend this book.

I absolutely love Nora Roberts romance s was sceptical to read a dystopian novel by her. I don’t know why I worried as she pulled it off with every ounce of captivating, fast paced and addictive qualities of each novel before.

This story was more focused on the kids, rather than the adults of the first book. I love Fallon. She’s feisty and strong; exactly what a female lead should be.

I will admit that I did prefer the first book. But I will definitely keep reading. And would recommend.

I received this ebook from the published via NetGalley but this has in no way influenced by review or opinions.

Note: I actually bought this book also as a gift for my sister but read it before giving it away so I didn’t have to download the ebook sent.

Second of a series. This book takes place a few years after the first book. Fallon Swift is almost 13.
Mallick will soon be coming to collect her and train her to fight those that mean her harm.
We get to check back in with Fred, Chuck & Arlene back at New Hope, as they try to reach people like them. While protecting the community from raiders and purity warriors. While an enjoyable read, I have to say i didn't find it as good as the first book. Hopefully the third book will be better. Of Blood and Bone ends in a place that just leaves you wanting more. ARC received from net galley in exchange for a voluntary review.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for a copy of this book.

Another fantastic book for Ms Roberts.

My only problem is waiting a year between installments - it kills me!!

This time around it's Fallon's story and, although it was a really good one and it focused more on the kids, I found that I missed the adults from the first book.

Saying that, I still loved it, like I do with every other Nora Roberts and saying that, it has 5 stars from me.

Of Blood and Bone, the second novel of the Chronicles of The One trilogy, is another expertly crafted story from Nora Roberts, and although it's stated that it works as a standalone I feel that it is better to have read Year One first as you get a deeper understanding of the plot, characters and world. Year One was a superb start to this fantasy series, but this is even better. I have trouble getting my head around the fact that Ms Roberts is not only a romance writer, but she can create a fantastic and captivating dystopian world. The fast pace and excellent writing make it easy to be gripped from the first couple of pages, and the characters are very well developed with lots of detail being paid to each of them.

The story is a powerful and emotional one as you really care about what happens to the characters you've become invested in. Not only is the worldbuilding some of the best I've encountered this year, but its some of the best I've ever come across in the fantasy genre. The contrast between light and dark, good and evil is very well executed and provides some tension throughout the story. This is a character-driven novel/series which is reminiscent of Stephen King's The Stand, so those who enjoyed that book will definitely find a lot to love here. I am already eager to get my hands on the final instalment, but I guess I'll have to be patient given that it's still a year away. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait! I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Many thanks to Piatkus for an ARC

I read the first book in the Chronicles of The One last year and absolutely loved that book, so I was super excited to start reading this second book in the series. This was definitely a book I was looking forward too.

In ‘Blood and Bone’ we are thirteen years further than where the first book ended. Billions of people have died and the ones that survived are trying to build a new world. We meet Fallon Swift, a thirteen year old girl that is destined to be the ‘one’. Not an easy thing to be. Fallon has to leave her family behind to learn more about her special abilities.

I don’t know why exactly, but I just didn’t love this book. I had so many high expectations about this one, since I absolutely loved the first book, but this one just didn’t work for me at all. I couldn’t really get into the story and I missed the action the first book was filled with. I also missed some of the characters I got to know in the first book. It just almost seemed like I was reading a book from another series. Where the first book also had a pretty good romance story, this one didn’t. And as a Romance reader I missed that.

What I did really like was Fallon’s character. She was just a very fascinating and feisty young girl. I loved how strong she was and how determined she was to do her very best. She was definitely very interesting to read about and I think her character was very well written.

But unfortunately it took me a long time to really get into this book. And since I’ve been on a reading spree the last view weeks this was definitely disappointing. I didn’t hate the book, but I just expected so much more. The writing was still pretty good, I could still picture myself in this ‘new’ world but I was just really missing something.

This the second book in the Chronicles of The One series and I found it amazing even if I didn't read the first one.
I'm used to think about Nora Roberts as a romance writer but this was a solid and well written fantasy book, one the best I read this year.
Ms Roberts surely can write a powerful and enthralling book with an amazing world building.
The book is fast paced, I read it in two sitting even if it's over 400 pages long.
It never bores, you never want to skip a page as it's entertaining, engaging and fascinating.
As I already said I loved the world building as much as I loved the characters and their development.
I look forward to reading the next instalment and will surely read the first one in this wonderful series.
Highly recommended!

This is the second story in the Chronicles of The One series. The town of New Hope has moved on Duncan and Tonia have been born to Katie one of the original founders. They will join with The One in a blood oath to bring light to the darkness. The One Fallon born to Lara and Max her father killed in Hope by his brother Eric. With her dad Simon, a soldier who had taken them both in and her new brothers to form an unbreakable bond. Fallon is taken by Mallick for two years to develop the skills and magic of the light that is within her. She must become a leader but not let revenge for her fathers death overtake her. This book moves at a great pace to develop Fallon’s skill with lovely moments of meeting her permanent companions of an owl a wolf and a unicorn. The story has moved to the next level and you cannot wait for Fallon and her followers to now meet the Dark on a level playing field.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher Little, Brown Book Group UK in exchange for an honest review.

If I could give this book more than 5stars I would . The first book - Year One- was SUPERB and this book continues in the same vein...……… if not better .
Please note that to fully appreciate and enjoy this book , in my opinion , ' Year One' should be read first .

This books takes us on Fallon's journey from leaving her home on her 13th birthday , to train with the Sorcerer Mallick …………….. for she was born of magic ……….. "The One" prophesied unite all against the darkness .
It does leap forward in time in skips and jumps but this is necessary to progress the story .

We also see what has happened in New Hope . It was great to find out what had happened to those left behind after the Massacre in book 1 .
Although many questions were left unanswered ……….. how does Arlys get her information ? how did Katie become Mayor , who is the traitor ? …………….. we are shown how people can work together to keep each other safe against the evil in all its forms .

The book is fast paced , full of light and dark magic , witches and faeries ………….. the world building and characters are superb .

I know that I have to wait 12 months for the final book in the series ………… but based on this book it will be well worth the wait.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own .

The middle book of a trilogy is always a bit strange. This one skims over most of the ten years since the end of the previous book, reintroducing us to a few main players from last time and the new characters of this one. I did find it a challenge to remember who a few of the characters were, although that's probably more about me than about Roberts' skill.

A few moments jarred me, such as Fallon being on the end of three angry kisses from two different guys, and her calling her uncle's woman a whore. On the whole, though, this was an enjoyable read, tense in spots, and I'm very much looking forward to reading the final title in a year's time.
