A Merciful Fate is Book 5 of the Mercy Kilpatrick series by Kendra Elliot. While every story so far in this series has been great and there is a bit of a backstory that continues along, I do think a person could easily jump in mid-series and not feel overly lost. Personally, I'm just finding the time to grab the first 2 books in the series and I've been following along just fine.

I've enjoyed every story I have read by this author but I must say, this is absolutely one of the BEST yet! It kept me on pins and needles the entire time. The suspense was riveting and I was certainly thrown for more than a few loops. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I snuck in a chapter every chance I could get.

I received an arc from net gallery and am voluntarily reviewing this book.

This was the best one yet from Kendra Elliot. I thoroughly enjoy the suspense and a lot of it I did not see coming and I'm really good at predicting most suspense thriller. Mercy stumbles upon a case 30 years in the making involving a bank robbery and missing money. The people involved blew me away because I never saw it coming. I don't want to give away any spoilers but this one was awesome and the ending definitely made me smile. Glad to see Ollie doing so well and involved with society

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of A Merciful Fate in exchange for an honest review. A Merciful Fate is the 5th book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Mercy was raised in a survivalist family and left to pursue a career with the FBI, which was not welcomed by her family. When she returns to her hometown of Eagles Nest, she reunites with her old boyfriend,Truman Daly, who is now the police chief. Thirty years ago, an armored-car robbery turned deadly. The mastermind was captured and remains in prison. Four conspirators vanished with a fortune. One of them, it appears, never made it out of the woods alive when bones are found in an abandoned cabin. It becomes clear to Mercy that someone in their community is connected to the heist and is not who they appear to be.
Great story complete with bank robbers, tabloid reporters and plenty of intrigue. Elliot always comes through with a well-written, captivating mystery.

I loved this book!! It's my favorite book in the Mercy Kilpatrick Series. It's even better than the last book, which I also loved. There were so many twists and turns. I never guessed who was going to be involved or the ending. I love Mercy as an FBI Agent, especially with her background. I definitely want Mercy and her bag of medical supplies next to me if I’m ever shot. Her and Truman make a perfect pair and I can’t wait for the wedding . I also love the addition of Ollie.

When a skeleton is found in the woods with empty money bags, the FBI is called in to investigate. Mercy thinks it’s related to a armored truck robbery that happened about thirty years ago. Sandy and Bree are having vandalism occurring on their properties. A tabloid reporter shows up looking to write a story up about the skeleton and the robbery and starts questioning everyone. Eventually Mercy and Truman discover the truth about everything and all the secrets are finally revealed.

I loved the story, characters and writing style. I absolutely loved the ending and finally learning the truth about everyone who was involved. So many secrets and people who aren’t who you thought they were. I enjoyed that the story wasn’t all about survivalist and preppers. I’m happy Mercy is on better terms with her family and hopefully her dad will come around.

I definitely recommend the book and the previous ones in the series. I can’t wait to read the next one. I’m sure Truman and Mercy will have another crime to solve. Hopefully she refills those sponges made from crustacean shells.

Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the author, Kendra Elliot, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

Once again, Elliot provides us with a fun and suspenseful story about the life of Mercy and her growing family. The plot provides further development of all the characters as well as their interrelatedness. Mercy & Truman's relationship has matured and settled, allowing them each to do pursue their careers with passion. The storyline centers around a decades-old bank robbery and the search for the money & suspects. With some interesting twists, the surprising guilty parties are revealed, and consequences are meted out, with justice and mercy. The life that Mercy and Truman are creating holds great potential, and I can't wait to see where they go next.

This was a first read for my by this Author but I am so glad that I have found her now because I am hooked. What a great read! All the main characters and sub-characters are very well developed and interact well together. Although this is the fifth book in this series, you will be able to follow along just fine not having read the previous books. The story flows really well and keeps your attention the whole way through. I could not read fast enough to find out what was going to transpire in this story.

When Ollie's dog, Shep, finds a human bone, a thirty year old case is re-opened. An armed car robbery took place and only one of the suspects had been caught. Shane is still in jail to this day so there is no way that he could have had any connection with all of this, right? When they found the remains, there were bank bags that connected the dead man back to the thirty year old robbery.

When Mercy and Truman are put on the case to try and figure out where the other suspects are who were involved in this thirty year old case, there are many twists and turns that I never saw coming. Kendra Elliot sure knows how to keep the suspense alive throughout the whole story. The romance in this story was just enough for me and not over the top at all. I loved the mystery part of the story and it definitely trumps the romance for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries and being surprised by the ending!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy!

Thank you Kendra and NetGalley for the advance read. As always, any Elliot is full of intense drama and such an intricate storyline that keeps you guessing to the end. This recent installment in the Mercy Killpatrick is no different. The “prepping” lifestyle is very unfamiliar to me so it is very interesting to read about it. Can’t wait for the next one!

When Ollie and his dog Shep discover human skeletal remains on a remote trail in the woods he also discovered the first clue in a case that has been cold for 30 years. Thirty years earlier an armored car was robbed. The mastermind was caught but the rest of the gang escaped and were never heard from again.

Rumors had the gang crossing the border into Canada but if the bones are any indication maybe the gang never even left the area. Now the case has landed on the desk of Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick and it’s up to her to track down the other criminals. And everything is pointing towards locals, people she knows being involved.

Kendra Elliot is just great. This book, this whole series is great. Honestly I can’t think of a bad thing to say about it. It’s well written, great characters, the stories are unique. In every way this series is just a little bit better than the competition. I gave the first 3 books to an 85 year old retired police officer and he loved them. It’s no surprise, I know that Mercy Kilpatrick is a winner.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-ARC of A Merciful Fate by Kendra Elliot. Mercy Kilpatrick is the FBI agent investigating a thirty year old crime after a set of remains are found in a remote location. There are many twists along the way to solving this crime. The story was engaging from the beginning. Good Read.

Ive read all the books in this series and really enjoy them.

A skeleton is discovered and is linked to a 30 year old mystery. An armoured car was hijacked and the mastermind was captured but not his four conspirators. Its a high profile case and attracts a lot of attention.

What are people prepared to do to keep their secret?

We also learn more about Mercy's family and her relationship with Truman. An enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book.

The accidental discovery of human bones leads to the reopening of a 30 year old cold case and a lot of trouble ensues for both Mercy, an FBI SA, and Truman, her fiancé who is police chief in Eagle's Nest. There's some interesting twists here that will keep you reading. Mercy is a terrific, strong character with an, ahem, unusual background. I have not read all of the books in this series so this was more or less a standalone for me and I was fine with it- Elliot gives you enough info to appreciate the characters and their back stories. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I loved this book!! I have been a fan of Kendra Elliot since I discovered her books a few years ago and have read all her books. All of them! and this one did not disappoint. The twists! The turns! It had it all. I love Mercy and how she has grown from book 1 until now. Her relationship with Truman also has “humanized” her. Ollie is an addition that I love and hope to see more of his character development in future books. The plot was well developed and had me anticipating the next move. All in all another winner by one of my faves!!

I have really come to enjoy the Mercy Kilpatrick series by Kendra Elliot and was excited to dive into A Merciful Fate, the fifth novel, in the series I was not disappointed. For me, this was the best murder-mystery to date surrounding an unsolved, thirty-year-old bank heist. Suspense, townie secrets and more test FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick and her fiancé Police Chief Truman Daly.

Full review will post at Caffeinated Reviewer on January 14th and will be shared on all social media. A review will also cross-post to Goodreads and Amazon.

I LOVE this series and I LOVE Kendra Elliot!!!!

You just can't go wrong with Kendra!!! Her books have a little bit of everything. Awesome characters, some characters you'll love to hate, great plots, murder, mayhem, mystery, thrills, twists and turns, some romance, but never a dull moment.

If you've never read one of Kendra's books your missing out on some great adventures.

Thanks for another great book Kendra.

And again, Kendra Elliot sucked me in and took me on a wild ride! I was worried that by the fifth book things would get redundant, but that is not the case. I am so caught up in the lives of these characters that I hope there will be many more books to come!

Great story! This is my first in the series but it won’t be my last! It does work as a stand alone but there are references to the past stories (different events and characters) that made me realize I had some info gaps. It doesn’t really detract from the story, if anything, it made me want to go back and start from the beginning.

The characters, their backgrounds and their relationships are very interesting. There were some surprises and red herrings. I liked the conclusion and am curious to see where the next one takes me.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Montlake Romance for a copy in exchange for a review.

This Author is one of my favourites and I love this series. Old bones and money bags are linked to a 30 year old bank robbery. While Mercy is investigating that, Truman is trying to find whoever is responsible for vandalism at two women's homes. There is a link but you need to read the book to find out what it is. A shocking ending that I did not expect. Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

Over thirty years ago, there was an armored car robbery. There were said to be five people involved. Only one was ever caught and sentenced to prison which was Shane. The others vanished without a trace along with the money. Now years later, out in the backwoods, a body has been found, and it looks like it is connected to the armed robbery case. Mercy who is now an FBI agent and her partner Police Chief Truman is on the case as they set out to identify the dead body. Doing this means re-opening old wounds as they head to the prison to talk to Shane. It looks like someone else is in town knows more about the case than they are letting on as a tabloid journalist Tabitha turns up asking questions.
Meanwhile, in this small town, there are also a few cases of vandalism occurring, is this all connected or something entirely different? As Mercy and Truman start to dig deeper, it seems that a few people in town might want the truth to remain hidden as they have created new lives for them and their families. Also as more victims start to pile up and one of the last calls is Mercy's father, it looks like she may have to pay her estranged father a visit. Can Mercy and Truman solve the case of the century before more people are injured or worst killed? Find out in another fast-paced mystery by Kendra Elliot. Also, I quite liked the cover of this book with the beautiful woods scenery. The Mercy Kilpatrick series is also a good read if you love strong female leads.
