An exciting read which kept me turning the pages, characters you care for and just brilliantly written. Faith Martin consistently writes great mysteries.

I have enjoyed some of this author's earlier books, but I think that the series has run out of steam, unfortunately.

Despite the fact that my TBR is toppling over, this book by Faith Martin sat for quite some times. Hillary's last book. Her final case. Call it denial, but if I didn't read it, I didn't have to see the Detective Hillary Greene series ending.

As the blurb states, this is Hillary's final case, while at the same time carving a path to a new future. Hillary was a celebrated DI for years. She had a solve rate "second to none". Having retired, she is now a civilian cold-case consultant for the Crime Review Team. The unit she works for is rather small, and her boss is Chief Superintendent Stephen Crayle, and her life partner, or could be if she would accept his marriage proposal. She finally has an answer for Stephen. But, for now the team must deal with an ongoing problem.

One of their own, Jake, has been spying on Hillary. After having gathered sufficient evidence against him Faith, with Stephen allowing her to take the lead, questions Jake, who is an IT millionaire apparently eager in his job as a civilian consultant like Hillary. Why, then, is he spying on her, breaking into her computer?

Meanwhile, the team's current case is a missing persons case involving the disappearance of several young women. The team focuses on a slippery criminal named Dale Medcalfe. They are convinced that he is behind things and they try and set a trap to catch him once and for all.

These mysteries by Faith Martin are always interesting, fast-moving and rather tricky. I admire Hillary Greene as the perfect detective, knocking on as many doors as possible, and as this book deals with something very serious when it comes to the women they are trying to track down, this book is one of the best in the series.

Although I didn't get a chance to read the entire series, only having read a few, I loved the no-nonsense way Hillary took at getting to the bottom of things and seeing how she earned her reputation. Since reading the previous book in this series, Murder in Mind, I have had the privilege of reading another series by her and have really come to love her writing. With regard to Hillary, stay tuned.

Faith Martin is one of few authors that consistently write books that you know you'll enjoy no matter the characters. Her stories put you in the middle of their lives while you work along side them trying to figure how the current mystery. As Hillary Green's last story, she has given us a good mystery to solve while keeping everyone's hopes up that it's not really her last. Set aside the nostalgia though, because Hillary is not going to let this cold case remain unsolved. She and her crew take on and solve in their usual manner, leaving the reader glad you decide to tag along.

I really like reading this author's novels. They are engrossing, quick reads that hold your interest until the end. This book certainly offers that in spades.
I thought the storyline was well written and thoroughly suspenseful. 3.5 stars.

Sad to hear that this is the last in the series. Entertaining series, look forward to reading more from the author

Faith Martin’s books are always a quick but interesting read that I enjoy. Hilary’s life is always interesting and her transitions in life have been terrific

The final case in the long running Hillary Green series from Faith Martin. Much in the vein of the preceeding books, a character driven mystery, although this time tying up the ends and the departure of the central character - albeit a very swift departure indeed. Certainly not as entertaining as earlier books in the series and, perhaps, a very disappointing end for very firm fans.

I loved the Hillary series, and I really hope that this is not the last one, despite the title. However, it lacked the enthusiasm and excitement of the previous books. The only reason I stayed with the first chapters was that I had read all the previous books. If you have not read any books in this series, I strongly recommend that you rewind and read the books in chronologicial order. You are in for a treat.

This is a good-bye to the retired DI Hillary Greene, DS Steven Crayle and all the characters that have appeared in this long running series of books.

The retired, Hillary Greene is still working for the Crime Review Team, reviewing past cold cases. She has a new supervisor as her partner, Steven Crayle is leaving to lead another team.

One of her civilian team, Jake Barnes, a dot.com millionaire is still under observation after being found snooping on Hillary’s PC. They know he’s up to something, just not what it is. After confronting him, it leads to the final case involving their most wanted criminal, a violent, ruthless man.

I found this to be a gripping, engrossing read with the great characters I have come to know throughout this series by Faith Martin. It brings it to a satisfying end, but I will miss Hillary Greene’s determined, strong character.

I'm really not sure why I requested, read and now am reviewing this book. Maybe because so many of my Goodreads friends love this author and series? Maybe? I guess I've read and reviewed only 3 or 4 of these books. I still don't get the appeal. They seem to be simple, straightforward mysteries. The who and whydunnit is obvious. I've always liked Hillary's team members more than her. So, at least with this book I can finally say, Adieu! G'day! Sayanara! Aloha! Arrevaderci! Good luck. Good riddance....oh, crap! There I go being rude again! Damn. I hate it when that happens! Listen, I don't often recommend other authors when reviewing someone else. Hell, it's just rude. So, here I am..being rude. If you like a British mystery, with some off beat, but intelligent characters, and banter. Mostly banter! Then read Joy Ellis.

This 17th and final book in the series left me a little disappointed. Although Hillary does her 'magic' again and solves all cases that are thrown at her, although her love for Steve is still growing and although she is actually way too young to stop working, the story feels as though the author lost her inspiration a bit.

I've enjoyed this series and this is the final book . Its a continuation of the plot of the previous book. Unfortunately, at the end of the story not all the lose ends were tied up and I found that disappointing after such a long series.

Hillary's Final Case moved quickly and efficiency to the surprising end, and i read it in reality one sitting.. Really that good.. I will defiantly follow this author from now on with much anticipation.!

I just love this whole series by Faith Martin. I enjoyed every single book and have now downloaded her new series starting with the birthday mystery. I hope this series is as good as the Hillary ones!! I will let you know in due course.

This is the first book that I have read about Hillary Greene. How did I not know about this series? Now I must start with #1. I really liked the characters and look forward to reading the earlier books and learning more about them. I will say that this was a good ending and I think the author tied everything up nicely. Thanks to Joffe Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Not sure what happened with my download. Rather than receiving what I presumed to be a new story, I received another copy of of “Murder in mind”. I have already read and reviewed that title. As I enjoyed that title very much, I was disappointed to miss the opportunity for another story.

The final book in the Hillary Green series answers all the questions both in her professional and personal life. The cases in this concluding book are a continuation from the storyline in the previous book 'Murder in Mind'.

The crime solving is believable and engaging, not everything is solved, but this adds to the authenticity. All the main characters are featured in 'Hillary's Final Case' and there is a satisfactory resolution of Hillary's personal life.

I have only read two books in this series, but as they read well as standalone stories this isn't a problem, Cold cases featuring missing girls are the theme of this book, and all the stories are absorbing and poignant. There are many twists, but it's rewarding to follow the clues and solve the mysteries and crimes with Hillary Green and her team.

If you enjoy crime novels and cosy mystery this is a series worth reading.
