A fun and interesting read, that I would give 3.5, and that is perfect for summer (easy to pick up and put down). Angie has inherited some money, so decides to quit her job and start writing full time. Moving into a house with a wide variety of people, who have side stories too, helps to carry the story along. All the emails got tiresome after awhile though, and would have been better without so many. Sadly though, falling for someone online is too common nowadays, and it is too easy to lie. First I've read by this author, and first I've read with the setting of South Africa. Would recommend.

I guess I just got distracted by the emails and a lot of characters. It would be better if the format of the emails are different from the narrative part of the book so it's easier for us, readers, to distinguish the letters/emails from the narration.

In short, 'not my message' or rather 'not my cup of tea'.
I keep forgetting that romance novels are very descriptive and prescriptive to the point of getting annoying and boring. Romance novels of this kind are definitely not for me.
All I can say about this book it is very clean, pure and comfortable. The plot development is very straight and narrow and very obvious. Characters are clearly divided into good and bad and good are very likeable.
I will have to read the second book in the series as I made my promise to NetGalley. But I will have to be more careful in my choices in the future.

The Truth about Clicking Send and Receive explores the complexities of romance in the modern age in a fun, yet precautionary way.

Angie is a likeable character, a romantic who’s desperately trying to be responsible and chase her dream. I enjoyed how her story played out, adjusting to life in Durban, meeting and entangling with the love interests, despite herself.

One of the things I found interesting was that this was written and set in South Africa. The last book I read set there had a strong political bent to it, but not this one. Instead, it feels more like a regular day-in-the-life story. A taking a chance story. A falling in love story.

Another thing I enjoyed was the email romance Angie sparks up with the mysterious romance writer. One, I was super intrigued and wondering whether they’d get together in real life. Two, I was noticing and disregarding red flags just as swiftly as Angie was. I felt it was built and executed just as well as any “in person” romance I’ve read.

This story is pegged as chic lit. I’m not exactly sure what that entails as I usually do not read chic lit. But perhaps it has to do with dose of realism mixed in with the romance, or maybe it’s the relationship-focused storyline, and not just of the main character. I noticed a couple of other stories emerging and playing out, a method I like in a series like this. It allows the author to build interest in the next without resorting to a cliffhanger.

Anyhow, loved this story and recommend it to folks who enjoy chic lit, romance, and interesting settings.

I received the review copy of this book from NetGalley.

I DNF'd this book. About halfway through I lost interest. It started out promising but I found myself getting distracted by the emails. I'd still try another book by this author though.

Angie finds out that she was left with money ad finally a chance at what she wants in life, but does she really know what she wants? will it make her happy or will she find that not everything is as it seems? Follow Angie as she discovers some hard truths and see what happens when she starts to question happiness.

The ending nearly makes up for the rest of the book. This book didn’t set my world on fire but it has a solid story line and some engaging characters. I found myself more engrossed towards the end of the book as this is where most of the action takes place. The earlier part of the book seemed a bit vague and the storyline a bit lost.

I'm sorry, but it is not like this book. It was choppy in it's presentation and because of this I was not able to finish it. I am also upset about the cover. It's very deceptive, not at all like what is presented.

Set in South Africa, this book is hilarious! It reminded me of friends and I loved how versatile the characters were.
What I found refreshing were the emails written by Angie especially their length!
This is a fun read and readers who enjoy chick-lit would be entertained by a character or two as they read this. Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.
