Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Entertaining Caper…
The fourth in the Kate McCall Mysteries takes the reader back to Serenity Cove. The dice playing pals are entering the holiday spirit with gusto, as Christmas fast approaches, when the discovery of a skeleton sets tongues wagging. Entertaining caper with a deftly drawn cast and a fun storyline.

Great for anytime of year, but particularly the holidays when you just want to get into that cosy Christmas spirit.

sit yourself down in front of the fire, with a glass of eggnog and surround yourself with The Bunco Babes, a dice playing gang of senior sleuths as the uncover the mystery behind the skeleton they have just uncovered.

Entertaining and fun

My first book with this author and definitely not my last. I felt a little lost not having read the previous books in the series but it was still enjoyable. I love holiday-themed books and this was no exception.

Happy are the amateur sleuths of cozy mysteries, pitted against intransigent law enforcement. Take Kate McCall of South Carolina, widowed, retired, Ohio native, protagonist of Gail Oust's Kate McCall Mysteries. Kate doesn't know when to stop; an irresistible force pitted against the immovable object of local Sheriff Wiggins. Kate discovered it, and she's determined to solve a mystery twenty-five years cold.

To say I love themed cozy mysteries would be an understatement. This is a new author to me but one that I enjoyed very much. I love how the MC of the book we’re seniors or should I say older woman. I have not read many books with this type of character. As for the story it definitely followed the formula that all cozies follow but it was dull or boring although I did know who the murder was by the middle of the book I wanted to see how the author was going to reveal it.. so it didn’t surprise me. Definite an enjoyable read. Thank you Netgalley and publisher for allowing me to read this book

The action takes place in the mis-named Serenity Cove and at its heart is a group of mature ladies who play games of dice. That’s a nice and unusual element for a start, and all the characters were meet are equally quirky.
Local resident Eula Mae Snow undertakes some cleaning and tidying of her home in readiness for it being part of the town’s holiday tour. She’s rather alarmed to find a skeleton in the basement, and even more alarmed when it transpires she used to be married to it! Needless to say, she’s number one suspect, but like everyone else, she thought he’d left her.
The dice-playing friends get together to solve the crime and keep Eula out of jail.
There’s lots of fun and suspense in this story, plenty of lively exchanges and a clever plot that keeps the reader tantalised to the very end.
This is part of a series, but works fine as a standalone.
I'll definitely be reading more by this author.

I requested this from the Read Now Section of Netgalley after publication of the book. I liked the cover and the description. This is the fourth in the series and the first I have read.

I really enjoyed this story. Even though it was lost in my kindle, I found it. It was a quick read, cute storyline. Looking forward to the next installment.

These are my own opinions.

It’s Christmas time in Serenity Cove, South Carolina. Kate and the rest of the Bunco Babes are preparing for their Christmas activities when they find a skeleton in the basement of one of their friends. The skeleton turns out to be the missing husband of their friend whom the house belonged to. Can the Bunco Babes solve this 25-year-old mystery?

This is the first book I have read by Gail Oust but won’t be my last. Even though I have not read the other books in the series I was able to enjoy this book as a stand-alone. The characters are unique and fun. The mystery is well paced with several twists and turns along the way. A bonus for the food lovers there are recipes included in the book.

I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

Gail Oust writes great cozy murder mysteries. This one takes place during Christmas when some friends are looking for decorations and find a skeleton. Great writing and good characters.

I loved this; this story was perfect for the holiday season! This book is part of a series, but I didn't mind jumping in and reading this one. It is really sweet because the Dice Club all gather together to help decorate the house of another older lady who is planning to move to a care facility, all for the holidays. Of course, while they are digging around for decorations, they find a body and a mystery ensues, all around the Christmas season.

Another series I started at book 4, this one was clearly jumping into an existing series. It pretty much told you that there had been other books by the references regarding Kate's tendency to find dead bodies and the less than fabulous relationship she has with law enforcement. I have to say that I LOVE that the majority of the characters were 40 or above. I learned about a dice game I know people who have played but I have not. I thought that there were fun ways introduced to explain how Kate stumbled over the things that she did, including the dead body she finds at the beginning. I DID guess who did it and why long before it was revealed but I was so caught up in the interactions that I never got bored. All in all, I found it a nice read. I definitely recommend it.

Thank you to Gail Oust, Beyond the Page Publishing, and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read this book and share my honest thoughts and opinions

The fourth book in the Kate McCall Mystery series by Gail Oust is The Twelve Dice of Christmas. Kate and her bunco friends like in the active senior community of Serenity Cove in South Carolina. They agree to help Eula Mae decorate her home for the upcoming Christmas home tour. Kate is sent to the cellar to find old Christmas ornaments, but instead she finds an old body that is now just a skeleton. Even more shocking it is the skeleton of Eula Mae's husband who has been "gone" for over 20 years. I figured out the killer very early into this book, but I did enjoy the southern theme and the characters.

A nice cozy murder mystery!
In this story, the Dice Club members unite to help decorate the house of an old lady who will be moving to a care facility. This seems like a good idea, and shows the Christmas spirit of helping one-another.
Looking for decorations, our main character finds a gruesome discovery, that will lead to a murder investigation.

Welcome to Serenity Cove, a peaceful Southern community where the residents like to play dice, play golf and, when foul play moves in, play detective.

With a description that that, I could not resist reading this wonderful story. Kate McCall is a great character and I really enjoyed getting to know her. I had so much fun meeting Kate' s neighbor and it was fun to read about the knickknacks she had in her room. Many brought back fun memories.

This was a cosy Christmas mystery. It had everything you really need for a holiday murder book.

Kate and her elderly friends are part of the 'Bunco Babes'. They get together to play dice and generally do what retired people do.

When the Bunco Babes help their neighbour with the Christmas decorations, they get more than they bargained for when they find a skeleton!!!!!

The skeleton belongs to the husband of Eula Mae, the lady who Kate was helping put decs up for. Everyone assumed he just ran away twenty odd years ago and left her. Now Kate must solve this mystery and find out what happened all those year ago.

It was a cute little read, that I read back at the start of December and forgot to review, whoops! :)

I would recommend.

Cute cozy mystery! I really enjoyed the main character and her friends, with the background of their Bunco group. There was a good bit of humor in this book, which helped with the cozy atmosphere and to lighten up the seriousness of the cold case murder Kate was trying to solve. The solution to the murder didn't come as a big surprise and felt a bit forced, with several obvious clues to the solution leading up to the ending, but I still enjoyed the story. The main character, Kate, reminded me of another cozy culinary mystery series I've read and enjoyed, the Sadie Hoffmiller series by Josi S. Kilpack. This book is entertaining and a fairly fast read, with short chapters and a quick pace to the action and book. For the most part, I was able to follow the characters and their backgrounds without any problem, since I haven't read any of the previous books in this series yet, but I would like to go back and read the other books since I enjoyed this one.

This is a culinary mystery, but it only included three of the recipes for dishes mentioned in the story and they were all at the very end of the book. However, they all sound like yummy dessert recipes and I'd enjoy trying them out!! I'm especially intrigued by the Velveeta in the Secret-Ingredient Fudge recipe and wondering how that would taste!

Christmas theme cozy mystery and I had it figured out rather quickly who did it. A quick read and this is book 4 in the Kate McCll Mystery series. You can read as a stand-alone and not be lost. An entertaining cozy mystery to add to your Christmas collection.
