I am so excited about this book! I’ve been looking for a book with full color large photographs of people doing different yoga postures and this book has all of that plus a lot more. The “More“ that I’m talking about is the suggested variations of each pose, not just for larger bodies, but for bodies that might not be as flexible, or bodies that are in pain, or bodies that are pregnant.

The first section has all kinds of good information about the benefits of yoga, as well as how to set up your own individual practice of yoga.

This is a very special yoga book that sends the message that yoga is truly for everyone. The various modifications for each pose are excellent! If you’ve been away from yoga for awhile (for whatever reason) or have never tried yoga, you will be inspired by this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

A nice book with positions accessible for everyone, despite their physical conditions. I like the Q&A with the different yogin, it really gives a nice link to everyday people.

I am a yoga practitioner of several years. I loved the positive messaging in this book that yoga is for everyone. It is a great overall teaching book for many yoga poses. For me the most useful part was the pages showing variations for different poses. I learned about new variations that I had not seen in yoga class and that I will use in my practice.

Yoga for Everyone is a great, GREAT book. I was first drawn to it by the fact I have recently been wanting to start yoga but also that cover! The inside of the book did not disappoint.

If you are new to the yoga field, it can be quite intimidating. What pose is what? There are so many, how do you keep them straight? And perhaps you have back issues or an injury to prevent you from doing certain poses. This is where this book becomes an absolute gem.

Yoga for Everyone quite literally gives you alternative variations of each and every yoga pose to help accommodate everyone. There's even a man who has had both legs amputated and he does many of the poses throughout the book. Each pose has at least 2-3 variations and they introduce you to the "models" throughout the whole book.

Another plus is near the end of the book, they give you lists of different poses to do for different scenarios. For example, if you need relief for back pain, they list all the positions in order (including page numbers) so you know what to do. There are morning routines, bedtime routines, energy boosts, pain relief, stress relief, you name it. There is a full index at the end as well.

I have nothing negative to say whatsoever about this book and I would absolutely consider buying it for myself and for others.

I've never read a yoga before but I love following along with videos in my home, I was really excited to give this one a go, and I love it! It delves into so much, from creating a practice space, to breathing techniques, to poses. It's absolutely perfect for a complete beginner, and even as a reference book for the more experienced.

My only issue with this fabulous book is I wish they would have put photos of the models on the cover to really show that it's designed for every type of body. I almost bypassed this book because it looked like such a standard yoga book, which it certainly is not.

The author (a plus sized woman of color and experienced yogi) guides readers through 50 classic yoga poses, each photographed step-by-step to show you how to do it with different models. The models include folks who are new to yoga and have been doing it for over 50 years and include middle aged and elderly folks, a double amputee, a woman with Cystic Fibrosis, a pregnant woman, and more.

For each pose, there are at least 2 variations (often 4) for folks who can't do the pose in the standard way.

At the end of the book are 10 sequences for different purposes (start the day, easing back pain, relieving stress, before bed, strengthening core, building strength, etc.).

My husband is disabled because of septic polyarthritis that he developed at age 2. He has an artificial hip and knee, has had his shoulder fully repaired, has had multiple other surgeries on his leg and foot, and has calcified ankle and elbow joints that completely immobilize those parts of his body. He's also nearly 60 and heavyset. Despite this, he goes to the gym every single day (even Christmas!) and very gingerly works out to try to build his strength and get healthier. He has always been interested in yoga but we both thought that almost every pose would be impossible for him. I'm looking forward to showing him this book and seeing if we can now practice yoga together. I'd also like to involve my kids, who have always liked to do yoga with me.

I'm very impressed with this book. I love the upbeat, empowering tone of it along with the helpful layout and simple instructions. Highly recommended.

I used to really enjoy yoga when I was younger, and in better shape, but after having several health issues and gaining a fair amount of weight I've found it hard to practice. Being out of shape made it difficult to keep up with video instructors and I knew I was sacrificing my form in order to keep pace with everyone else. The thing I really enjoyed about this book was that it reminded me that I don't need a video or class do practice yoga, I can practice by myself, in my own home, and go at my own pace.

I love the layout of this book and how the pose is shown first and then several variations that can be used, if needed to modify each pose. It was also really refreshing to see non-stereotypical models in this book, and it really helped prove the point that yoga is for everyone! I will for sure be ordering a physical copy to have on hand to help me re-start my yoga fitness journey!

This book helps people of all body types learn and do yoga. It contains breathing exercises, step-by-step instructions for tons of yoga poses, alterations to the poses for those who may need them, and yoga routines. Being a plus-size woman with some back problems, I truly appreciate the accommodations this book makes for those of us who aren't very limber or may have some physical issues.

This title is not joking. This yoga is truly for everybody. I constantly struggle with yoga because I don't feel comfortable with the moves and I have to admit that seeing thin people do yoga causes me anxiety. It makes me feel as if my body type isn't supposed to be doing yoga. Well, I won't feel that way anymore thanks to this book. When I first opened this book I expected for it to be the same yoga book I've seen everywhere else. I was so pleasantly surprised, there are tips on this book for people of all body types and it' provides guidance for people with a disability. The variation to the poses that were offered were amazing and so easy to follow. I love this book and it's about time that it exists! Seriously if you've ever been intimidated by yoga and think you don't have the "body" for it then this is the book for you. I am so glad to have read it and followed the yoga poses.

I absolutely love this book!! This book truly demonstrates that yoga is for everyone, The book illustrates 50 yoga poses and shows adjustments that can be made to accommodate people with different body types or physical challenges or age categories.

It is very refreshing that the illustrative poses are done with models that have different body types and not just what society considers the "Perfect Body" as is marketed by most yoga publications.

I will place my order for my own physical copy. as this is a great reference book to have as a practitioner of yoga!

This book shows yoga poses for all body types and personalities. It is not designed for the pampered models that other books show.

I always wanted to try yoga but was reluctant to try a class or even do yoga with a friend. This book gives me the confidence that I can do yoga in my own home safely and at the stage I need.

I suffer from a variety of afflictions, including fibromyalgia. It is difficult for me to perform some of the positions yoga requires. This book, however, show additional positions to be used by those who are unable to perform the normal pose. It offers four ways that are acceptable to doing yoga.

I have begun to participate in yoga. I used the adapted forms. I have not seen a change in my abilities because it has only been one week. I have found slight advances in my stretching ability. This is very promising!!!

I love this book. It was definitely written for everyone.

This is the book for anyone who has ever wanted to try yoga but hasn’t because they thought they were too fat, too old, too pregnant, too stiff, too flawed in any way. Filled with detailed instructions and clear, crisp pictures, the book offers anyone variations to accomodate any number of barriers to performing a pose in the traditional manner. From sitting on a chair if the floor won’t work for a variety of reasons to using a prop such as a book, a pillow or a therapy ball to assist in supporting the body in the position, this book covers a variety of methods to accommodate a wide range of limitations.
It is also convenient for anyone who wants to try yoga in the privacy of their own home instead of attempting it in a class. The instructions are clear and precise, advising the new entrant as to how to move through the necessary positions to achieve the pose in it’s classic form. If that isn’t possible, then the explanation veers off toward variations so the reader can choose what works best for them or even use the information as a guide to tailor it to their specific needs.
YOGA FOR EVERYONE by Diane Bondy takes yoga out of the realm of the practiced individual and makes it accessible to anyone with an interest regardless of age, physical condition, or level of knowledge. I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering trying a few yoga poses on their own. There is a common misconception when it comes to yoga. There is the automatic stereotype that yoga is mainly for thin, young men and women, who are extremely flexible. I can tell you as a yoga practitioner that I do not fit into that stereotype. That is why I loved this book, Yoga For Everyone by Dianne Bondy.

The book makes the statement right off the bat that yoga can impact everyone. It can help those with any body type, the elderly, pregnant and disabled. The book then goes through 50 yoga poses that everyone can do along with variations for each pose. The author is a yoga instructor and knows the details of each pose and how to practice safely!


I love yoga. I am not the most flexible nor am I the thinnest. Yoga is most definitely for everyone. That being said, yoga can be difficult but is not meant to make you feel that you will never accomplish the poses. The great thing about yoga is that it is not a competition and the way to gain the best benefits from yoga is to know your journey and know your limits. Never give up on yoga. If someone would have told me how far I would be since my first yoga class, I would not believe them. I see and feel the benefits of a daily yoga practice. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars!

I was super excited to get this copy of Yoga for Everyone! It is so different from any other book or video on yoga techniques I’ve seen. Typically the books I’ve read show slender women that are incredibly flexible modeling all the poses effortlessly. They look great, but that’s just not me. This book shows real people that don’t have perfect bodies and they also demonstrate modified poses for anyone with limited mobility.
I love this yoga book and would love to see a video to go with it! The message I get from this book is that yoga IS for EVERYONE! I love it!

I have taken exactly one Gentle Yoga class (with cats, I might add). It was great but I cannot really afford to take a ton of classes so I bought a yoga mat and figured I’d try at home. I’m a bigger woman who also happens to have Multiple Sclerosis. I don’t expect miracles, but I would like to improve my balance and strength. Still yoga is intimidating, especially when you see people bragging about how hard they worked out in Hot Yoga classes or see someone easily move from complicated pose to even more complicated pose. I’ve seen beginner videos where they suggest making alterations but most don’t actually tell you how to make a pose work for you. Or they show you one or two and then expect you to figure out others on your own. I don’t like that approach because I don’t know how to make a pose work for me and still be safe.

Enter this book. Are you bigger? Disabled? Just not that flexible? This book is amazing. I’m so glad I found it. There are directions for so many poses and then also different levels of variations. So if you just need a little boost, it shows you how to use props to get you to the correct position. Cannot get into that pose at all? There’s almost certainly a version you can use here. As in there’s a lying down version of the handstand. And if you truly don’t feel any of the variations would work for you? Skip that pose. The book encourages you to know what you can and cannot do. Don’t stress yourself out over things you don’t feel comfortable with.

I still prefer videos but I will use this book more than a few times on its own as well as a supplement for when following videos that don’t offer variations themselves.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who wants to do try Yoga but is anxious about whether or not it can work for them. This book will show you that Yoga can work for you.

I am a reviewer who is very qualified to give an opinion of this book. I have been practicing yoga for years. Sadly, the yoga magazines do depict poses with models who have “perfect” bodies. I love this book utilizes people with differences in body types and also, beginning to advance students as well.

This book offers yoga for every type of body: big, small, elderly, pregnant, disabled—everyone. No matter who you are or what you look like or what your abilities are, you can do all 50 poses in this book. The variations to classic poses in this book will also allow you to perform all 10 sequences, which combine different poses into one singular experience and focus on specific physical and mental benefits.

So forget what you've heard. Yoga isn't just for the privileged few. It's meant to be enjoyed by everybody and every body. Yes, you can do yoga—and Yoga for Everyone will show you how!

This book teaches you that yoga really is for every body type! I've always been afraid to try yoga thinking I was "too big" for it or that I was going to do it wrong and hurt myself but with this easy to follow guide I was able to try yoga successfully. It does take some practice, but this book was a great resource to learning yoga.
