I found this book to be a light read and it was charming, albeit a bit different than I was expecting. Sarah and Molly are sisters, Sarah runs a jewelry business out of her cottage and her sister Molly is a scientist. When Sarah's life gets turned upside down, Molly will do anything to help her sister feel better and find happiness, even if it's at risk to her own relationship and career. I don't want to give anything away, but I found myself yelling at all of the men in this book, but everything ended okay eventually.

This was a fun romantic comedy!

Though many parts of this book were funny, they often had a serious spin on it. Sarah discovered her boyfriend cheating on her, at the same time that she found out she was pregnant. Molly has a crush on her supervisor at work, but then she jeopardized her job. These serious parts made the story tense at times.

The premise of the story is quite funny. Molly and her supervisor Ewan have come up with a “love bug” which is a virus that can make two people fall in love. This seems like the perfect solution to Sarah’s problems, until it all blows up in their faces. I don’t know much about science, so I’m not sure how realistic this “bug” is, but it was fun for the story.

I really enjoyed this romance!

Thank you Avon Books UK for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Something a little different, I probably went into this one expecting one thing and actually reading another. I found some parts a little confusing and wondered where it was headed at times.
That being said there were moments of humour that made me giggle. I thought it lacked romance and the characters were not entirely likeable. I don't know.. maybe it just wasn't for me at this moment in time.

The Love Solution is a dual perspective book through the eyes of two sisters who live apart from each other on two very different career paths. While Molly is all about science and chemistry, Sarah is about the art of craft and all things shiny and glam.

Two completely different love stories, told by two very different characters. Molly is assigned to a new assignment in her science company in which she will work closely with her boss to craft a top-secret project named the 'love bug'. This involves using chromosomes to craft a potion in order to get someone to catch feelings for the other. Yet with the potion in her hands thinking she will need to use it, Molly finds herself falling for her handsome boss, Ewan, which she works closely with.

Then we have her sister Sarah, fresh out of a disastrous breakup from her ex and finds herself pregnant with his child. She is determined to do anything to win him back and goes to lengths for it, she even asks Molly for the sample of the love potion. However, she meets an older man called Liam who starts coming to her jewellery workshops to help craft things for his own daughter, and suddenly she is having second thoughts about the father of her unborn child.

I enjoyed Molly's story a lot and I was able to immersed myself in the scientific world of chromosomes and how certain solutions can change a person's feelings. I also loved the storyline of her and her boss and how they build a strong connection and relationship as they spend many sleepless nights in the lab together working on the potion.
However, I did quite fully enjoy Sarah's story. I felt as if she was too crazy obsessed with her ex that she was willing to anything including betraying her own sister. She spent most of the novel moaning over her ex and how she wanted him back that it lacked the points where she connected with Liam and the love they had between them. I really wanted to see more of Liam because through my reading I could tell he was a gentleman and was so kind to Sarah but we did not see much of it happen.

There were a few moments in the book that I found a little hard to read as it just seemed as the problem was lasting forever, however saying that I enjoyed reading about Molly a lot. I just felt as if Sarah's story could have been developed a little more.

Overall, this book wasn't my favourite and it was okay. But then again, I am glad I came across the book so I could explore different writing styles and how different authors write fictions.

I had a hard time getting into this book. Although I can’t say why. It was a cute story with two sisters, Sarah and Molly, as the main characters. I love my sister, you think I would have identified. It was hard. The plot seemed far fetched. Things like that do not usually grate on me, but it felt off. I could not understand a woman that “with it” being that desperate. The storyline was interesting, but I think I just didn’t like the writing style.

So much for chemistry. Didn't connect with the characters, plot was too choppy and predictable, and I had big issues with the "love solution" plot line. Not the romance book for me

I didn't put up a Goodreads review and I didn't rate it because I couldn't finish. I didn't care about the characters and the story was convoluted to me and I kept thinking I could try to come back to it but I just didn't want to.

Ugh, the writing was just SO dry 😑 I couldn't get past it. Such a shame because the story sounded good and the cover is cute.

I have to kick off by saying I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. I enjoyed reading about sisters Molly and Sarah. Sarah is the elder sister, she catches her boyfriend in flagrante at their home an is heartbroken only to them find out she's pregnant with his child too. Molly has a massive crush on her boss Ewan, they both work in the scientific research field, Molly tries very hard to grab the attention of Ewan but it's proving to be very hard work. Both of the sisters are likeable, relatable and have depth, we find out about the sad passing of their parents and how they only have support from each other. The author does a fantastic job of making you feel the heartbreak, rejection and their sadness and in the same breath but on the other end of the scale we author does a fab job of injecting light heartedness and some extremely funny laugh out loud moments. I would recommend this book all day long. A full five stars from me.

This cute and quirky story follows two orphaned sisters and their respective journeys to finding love.

Molly is a nerdy chemistry workaholic who is in love with her obtuse project leader. She’s working on an exciting, top secret project, to develop a “love bug” that looks to chemically bond two people together. Her sister Sarah is the responsible one, but when she comes home to tell her long term boyfriend she’s pregnant, only to find herself alone, she’s had it, and decides she wants to use the love bug to put her relationship and her life back together.

Molly and Sarah are both very different but both very endearing. They were a little all over the place, bumbling through life and love, trying to help each out along the way. For that matter so were the love interests which made for a lot of fun watching all the many awkward moments on their search for love.

I would definitely categorise this as chick lit more than a romance. We switch back and forth between the two, with the main plot driver being their personal growth. This is intertwined with the romance but, the relationships with themselves and each other was definitely what shined for me.

All the characters in this story were a little frustrating with their stubbornness and but I find this particular brand of it very characteristic of the chick lit style, so it didn’t bother me too much, and after all it’s usually what gets them stuck in hilarious situations.

The writing style was fine, didn’t stick out one way or another to me and I didn’t find myself wishing it was shorter or longer.

Overall a great feel good chick lit read!

I don't think this book was for me. I thought it was going to be a fun romance novel but it felt off for some reason.

Sarah and Molly's story is sweet yet a bit of a roller coaster at times. The story takes you through a glimpse at their life and just how different these sisters are.

I found this book somewhat silly, The characters were well-written, but I could not get past the "science" aspect of the story.

Really really enjoyed this book - it was light hearted and sweet! The main characters (two sisters - Molly and Sarah) are genuinely likable and I could definitely relate with the love of a sister being incredibly strong and powerful. The story itself was fairly predictable but I enjoyed reading how the characters evolved and "grew up". I even loved the secondary characters - especially Sarah's poor old neighbor who witnessed all the drama unfold... Definitely a lovely and enjoyable book if you're up for something light hearted!

I couldn't make up my mind about this one. I didn't like the 'science' aspect of it, and while the story was entertaining enough for me to keep reading, it didn't really grab me in the way a great read does. I found it a bit too cute, a bit too kooky for my personal taste. It did bring up a couple of good morality questions, but it wasn't quite serious enough, or funny enough, to do it for me.

I went into this book knowing nothing about the story but as I read further I found the storyline silly. The first few chapters were good but then when it came to the part of the elder sister asking the younger one to use the Love Bug on her ex boyfriend it went downhill. I couldn't complete this book and DNF-ed without wasting any further time on it.

The Love Solution presents a story of two sisters and their respective love lives. Add in an office romance, some experimental chemistry (involving yes, a 'love solution' aka. a potion), dirtbag ex's and some tandem bike riding adventures. For me, if I'm being perfectly honest, this book was okay. I didn't mind it, but gain, that's just my personal opinion and I'm sure many others liked it.

Characterisation:
Sarah and Molly are two sisters and they've been close ever since their parents passed away when they were young. The story follows both of them as they navigate relationships. As protagonists, I didn't mind them - they were nice and fun to read alongside, although there were times when I was simply annoyed. (See below for Sarah). As for the male leads? Molly's boss Ewan - I really did have mixed feelings about. And to be honest - I didn't 'swoon' (for lack of a better word) at him at all. He just seemed like a bit of a douche to be honest. As for Liam? Ah, Liam. What a nice guy. I just wish we could have seen more of him.

Storyline and Plotting:
This was one of those novels where there's so much exciting business going on that it almost becomes a little bit too much. From 'the Love Bug' storyline to the tandem bike riding to the jewellery business to the sisterly relationships to their own relationships to the pregnancy, there was just so much going on that I didn't really feel as if I got to fully immerse myself in the stories themselves.
Furthermore - there were moments when I just wanted to smack the characters upside the head and say to them - "really?!" I understand that that's normal, but for example, the amount of time that Sarah spent pining after her cheating ex (and the extent she was willing to go to to get him back?) felt a bit too much for me. And there were a few moments like that throughout the novel.
Having said that though, there were definitely moments where I found myself smiling or even laughing aloud.

Overall:
This book was just okay for me. As much as I hate to say it, I could have read it or not and it wouldn't bother me that much either way. That being said, give this book a go - particularly if you like books centering on sisters and their respective lives.

NB: I was kindly gifted an ARC of this novel by the publisher and the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
