The ideal gift for the Star Wars fan in your life (if there are any left ). Makes drawing your favourite villains a piece of cake.

Learn to Draw Star Wars Villains was a book full of the different Villains all the way from Rogue One to the Last Jedi. Quite complicated for beginners because they jump quite a bit for every step. This would be a challenge for the more experienced drawer but doable. They show the shading in the different steps so you know what pencil to use for each part.

This book is great for anyone that loves Star Wars. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to drawing so some of these were a bit too advance for me to do well but for intermediate and advance drawers these are great. The villains were fun to draw and there are a lot of great tips and tricks in this book.

My problem with "learn to draw" popular things kind of book is that they jump from a few simple steps to a complex one without any explanation. How is the person drawing going to understand why it is done that way? Why the folding on that shirt that way? But no... instead it just goes into shading and creating textures, again with no theory. How is this learning?

Unfortunately, I was unable to download this book. Therefore I gave it a three star rating based on the photos I have seen while researching it online.

As you can see the first thing this book talks about is that this book is EASY TO FOLLOW step by step instructions , and I am here to tell you it’s not. None of these are easy to draw and if you don’t know how to draw this book will not help you once so ever. I picked this book to review along with one of the others in this series because my family loves star wars, and again I am disappointed . There are 128 pages in all , and there are step by step instructions but boy are they hard! So I would say this book was a fail like the other one, I rate these books 1 star because I liked the drawings and if it were not for that this book would get a 0 rating.

On normal day, I can barely draw a decent stick figure. This book was very interesting, and fun. Perfect for any Star Wars fan. No matter what your age.

Absolutely 5 stars from everyone in this family!!! Yes, we love Star Wars but being fans we have seen the movies, been to the theme park in FL, even read the books.~ This added a whole other dimension to our enjoyment! (*added note: we have a big Boba Fett fan in the house and learning how to draw his favorite character has been a real treat for my son!)

Learn to Draw Star Wars: Villains: Draw favorite Star Wars villains, including Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and Darth Maul
by Walter Foster Creative Team is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. I found this book very fascinating and helpful! I don't think it is for absolute beginners but those with some some experience with shading. The book steps the reader through many complete characters and heads of characters. Great variety! It takes the steps from basic shape to complete drawing.
This is a book I hope to get!

Using just two graphite pencils, two types of erasers, drawing paper, and this book, you can Learn to Draw Star Wars Villains.

After a brief look at tools and techniques, the book dives into a step-by-step approach of drawing eleven Star Wars villains. Here is a complete list of those shown:
• Darth Maul
• General Grevious
• Count Dooku
• Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious
• Darth Vader
• Bib Fortuna
• Jabba the Hutt
• Boba Fett
• Kylo Ren
• Captain Phasma
• Supreme Leader Snoke

There are also closer looks at how to draw lightsabers and trooper helmets, drawing faces behind masks, and the differences between Boba and Jango Fett. How I wish I had read the helmet section before buying my then-teenage daughter a Storm Trooper helmet online. When it arrived, she started crying and shouted that it was a clone warrior helmet. I said but look it has the mouth scoops. I now know that it was a Phase II clone helmet. At the time, I was thinking of the Phase I clone helmet. Heavy sigh...

The steps for each drawing start with simple circles and gradually add details and texture until the finished picture emerges. There are excellent details about how to make fabrics look worn and achieve the right texture depending on the type of material. It also shows the reader how to draw leather and metallic parts accurately.

Learn to Draw Star Wars Villains is a great gift choice for the artist or Star Wars fan in your life. It doesn’t assume any pre-existing level of drawing skill. For younger artists, copying the rough outline would also work. 4 stars!

Thanks to the publisher, Walter Foster, and NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is perfect for any budding artist. Unlike some other character drawing books, this book does not take a cartoon approach to the iconic villains.
It breaks down how to draw them, step by step, but the true artwork comes with the instructions on shading, blending and adding detail.
