This was such a fun ride of a book and I LOVED Erin and Shorie, and mother and daughter who are both going through some tough times. Erin is grieving the death of her husband and her daughter, Shorie is pulling away from her. They think a vacation to the Caribbean is just what Erin needs to heal and process everything they're going through, but then things get reaaaaallllly crazy, y'all. Shorie begins to uncover some deceptions and secrets that threaten to ruin their lives and they realize that Erin's so-called friends might be the enemy.

This was such a fun twisted thriller....well written and suspenseful until the very last page!

This is definitely a slow burner.

I have read this authors books and was aware she took a slight deviation writing this one. I chose to read it as I love her writing style.

I kept picking it up and putting it down several times as well as listening to a different book on audio.

I decided to give this book my undivided attention. So by the time I got to the 50% mark it got better. However I can’t say if I loved this book? I think I liked it, that will be my preferable word. I certainly didn’t hate it that’s for sure.

The heartbreak in the book was so well written as was the relationship between mother and daughter.

I’m not sure if I’d class it under psychological thriller though as it’s more of a mystery/whodunnit to me. I’m thinking maybe I went in hoping for more classed on her previous books.

I’m glad I got to read it though or I’d be forever wondering.

It’s not put me off following her for more books .
I anticipate what she writes next.

Erin Gaines life is full of problems:
1) She has lost her husband Perry to a freak car accident and hasn't come to terms with it.
2) She is adamant in her decision to sell off the app company Jax that she and Perry had created with their best friends and business partners, Ben and Sabine even though it's doing very well.
3) Her daughter Shorie, who would much rather work in the company than go to university are not on best terms.
4) Her family and friends are concerned about her well being and growing dependency on alcohol as they feel she is making irrational decisions which comes to a high when she creates a scene in an intoxicated state at Shorie's frat party.

All these things lead them to make a decision to send her off to an exclusive resort spa in the Caribbean Islands for a few weeks where she can de-stress and get her bearings back on track and they all insist they have her best interests at heart. But do they? Because the moment Erin steps in the resort she begins to question the going ons over there and soon discovers that she has been sent here to be permanently removed. Moreover, back home, Shorie around the same time discovers there is a glitch in the app which should not be there and on further investigation, it leads her to uncovering an embezzlement plot which could be the work of someone really close and the realisation that her mother's life is in definite danger.

The book kind of started out slow but picked up momentum around the point when Erin reaches the resort spa and from there onwards it did not slow down at all. The characters are well etched and interesting and even though there were certain bits that seemed over the top, it still was a really thrilling book to read.

This was an outstanding book! It had all of the elements of a superb thriller, taking me through many different emotions. I felt anger, fright and edge-of-my-seat danger whilst reading "Until the Day I Die". It made me look over my shoulder a few times, in case anyone was watching me or if my imagination was in overdrive.

Emily Carpenter has definitely written a suspenseful page-turner that kept me wondering and guessing until the end. There were so many twists and turns in this book and so much deceit that I had no idea who to trust and the conclusion was jaw-droppingly good.

This is one I highly recommend. A well-deserved five stars!

Great novel that had me on my toes the entire time! Erin Gaines is the wife of a successful technology entrepreneur. After his untimely death, Erin is struggling to manage the company and take care of her teenage daughter, Shorie. After Erin blacks out one night, her friends suggest that she take some time to recuperate at a rehab facility in the Caribbean. Erin agrees, but what was supposed to be a relaxing week on an exotic island quickly turns terrifying. Erin soons finds herself in a "Survivor" like situation, where she is forced to fend for herself in a remote setting. It quickly becomes clear that this scenario is not a typical day at the resort. Someone has forced Erin into this situation....someone she is close to.....someone who has a vested interest in making sure Erin does not return home.

While Erin fights for her life, Shorie begins to realize that something was not right with her father's company. Someone had been siphoning millions from her father. Shorie is desperate to find out what was happening and who was responsible, while also trying to save her mother before it becomes too late.

This is my second Emily Carpenter book, and I have enjoyed them both. Both times, she has weaved a unique tale of intrigue and suspense. There were definitely shocking moments in this story, and twists and turns that I did not see coming. You can't go wrong with this book and this author, Highly recommend for a quick and riveting read.

If this had of been written in 1988 (although the plot would have to be altered technology-wise) this would've worked, but we've long moved on from that type of outlandish thriller.

Erin – CEO of a company, responsible for developing a successful personal budget app called Jax It's been several months since her husband died in a car accident, and she's finding it hard to cope. Following a family and friends intervention, Erin agrees to a stay at an exclusive rehabilitation spa facility in the Caribbean to rest and recuperate. But everything is not as it seems at the Hidden Sands retreat.

Shorie – Erin's 18 year-old daughter. Her father taught her everything he knew about programming and the inner workings of Jax. All she wants is to follow in his footsteps and work for the company, but at her parents wishes, she leaves home for college. Within days of arriving on campus, she stumbles across a random error message in the coding of Jax. The more she investigates, the more convinced she becomes that someone is embezzling money from the company. 

The first half set the scene nicely, was intriguing and foreboding and the descriptions of the tropical island resort were vividly detailed. Unfortunately from then on things descended into the realm of cheesiness, with every cliché you can imagine crammed into a suspense plot, and the epilogue was downright ridiculous and utterly unnecessary. Admittedly I was entertained, and am still chuckling over some parts, but I don't think that's the effect the author was going for? If you can suspend your disbelief and you're in the mood for light, mindless entertainment then you possibly will enjoy this.

I had no issues with the writing, and mother/daughter duo, Erin and Shorie were likeable characters I cared about. Shorie was a little too capable and worldly given her young age, but since she was supposed to be highly gifted academically I can forgive it. With 50% of the book narrated by a teenager – settling into freshman life, first college boyfriend, etc – I think a good target audience would be New Adult, and YA.

This was my first read by Emily Carpenter, and with the right plot I may consent to read another one, but Until the Day I Die just didn't work for me.

The tale is told from several points of view as the author takes you from the cusp of tragedy in a family, through greed, backstabbing, twisty plots, and slight hints at romantic endeavors. In the wake of tragedy, your eyes can’t be wide shut. Open and pay attention!

Anything by Carpenter is great. I have read them all. Great book and i love the author. This is certainly a must read for all the bookish bibliophiles out there. I high ly recommend this to people. Thank you for the approval.

I went into “Until the Day I Day” by Emily Carpenter pretty much blind. It was my first read by this author, but I have heard amazing things about her books, so I was super excited! Erin is still reeling from the death of her husband. Her family and friends insist that she needs some relaxation, so she agrees and heads to the Caribbean. But everything is not as it seems and Erin soon finds herself smackdab in the center of a very sinister plot.
I really wanted to like this book, but it was predictable and very farfetched at the same time. I did not feel attached to any of the characters. I will check out some of the author’s previous reads in the future.

I was looking forward to reading Until the Day I Die. The premise sounded very engaging and I thought that I would be gripped from the very first page. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I found the beginning and the first half to be rather slow and unengaging. There is definitely a lot of build-up and background story building before the story really takes off. Once I got to the second half the pages really started to fly by. I found myself wanting to find out what happened next for these two main characters. The book kept me guessing and I didn't guess the full who-done-it until the very end. I found the epilogue to be unnecessary and caused more confusion than a conclusion to the story. Overall I thought that it was a good read and gave it 3 stars.

Wow... this is quite the page turner with more twists than I could count! Very enjoyable read! ⭐️

There are unrealistic details to the story and I see some readers had issues with that. But it’s fiction and I didn’t have any problem with those allowances. Overall I was very invested in these characters- they were all struggling with grief, how to move forward, and who to trust. Written in alternating perspectives of the mom and daughter, the chapters are clearly marked and easily distinguishable.

Until the Day I Die is difficult for me to review. There were times I found myself thoroughly enjoying this book. But, there were many other times that I didn’t enjoy it at all and I was simply anxious for it to be done.

The word I kept thinking of was ‘far-fetched’ or, maybe, ‘unbelievable’. The two main characters (Erin and her daughter, Shorie) were well-drawn and I liked them both. However, many of the other characters seemed less defined and hard to care about. The plot started out well and grabbed my attention right away. But, as the story progressed, I became more disbelieving and skeptical. There are a few unexpected twists and revelations, but they don’t make up for the basic premise which seemed quite far-fetched to me (there’s that word again).

This is the first book I’ve read by Emily Carpenter and it is evident that she is a skilled storyteller.

Erin is a recent widow and is still grieving. When her daughter, Shorie heads off to college, she is at a loss. She decides that she wants to sell the company that her husband started, but not everyone involved in it agrees. When she turns up at her daughter's college, drunk and behaving erratically, her family and close friends stage an intervention. They end up sending her to a spa/rehab centre on a remote island to rest and regroup. Even though Shorie does not want to go college but work at the company founded by her parents, she heads back. Once she is at school and Erin is at the spa, things start to happen. Shorie does some investigating of company activities on her own, and Erin realizes that she might not be at the spa to recover.This story is told from two POVs, Erin and Shorie. I liked both of these characters and both were in very different places and had different goals. Erin is grieving, working too much, and doesn’t seem to be able to take care of herself. Shorie is smart and resourceful, and wants to work at her parent’s tech company rather than go to college. Erin and Shorie love each other, but have a very strained relationship. It is her mother that has pushed her to go to college.The thriller part begins on the island and it what happens if unexpected and somewhat implausible. This book combines a mystery at a tech company and a perilous island experience. My biggest complaint about this book was that it was not as realistic as I would have expected based on other books I have read by Emily Carpenter, as well as the fact that is seemed a bit disjointed to me. Overall, a wild, mysterious, story that took off for the last third of the book. I enjoyed it and will read more by this author, but this is not my favourite one by her.

This was not my favorite of Emily Carpenters books. I did think she went a little over the top with some of the obstacles the main character encounters. It was a fun read though with a couple twists thrown in.

Slow to start but had me hooked about halfway through. A little hard to believe at times but that seems to be typical with thrillers. Fast paced and intense! 3.5 stars.

I have mixed feelings about this. The first 40% moves so slowly I considered not finishing. But then it took off, even if some parts were a little unbelievable. I found myself racing through it. The ending though. It was all tell and no show. It needed a little more molding. Given all three parts I’m going to land on a solid 3.

Until the Day I Die was an intense novel! I could not stop reading this so I could find out what was going to happen next! Erin and her husband Perry are co-owners of a successful financial app along with their friends, Ben and Sabine. They have worked hard together to make the business a success and are now enjoying the benefits of it. Shortly before Erin and Perry’s daughter Shorie starts college, Perry dies in a car accident. Erin begins to fall apart and Shorie struggles with actually starting college. I can’t say much more at all without giving away too much. Trust me, there are many layers to the story and the perfect life that everyone appears to be living. The story is told in alternating chapters between Erin and Shorie. Their world goes from idyllic to dark pretty quickly.
