This one was just too fantastical, too silly. I just couldn't take the story seriously. I liked the technology. With 2 in my household who make apps and work on websites (one on security), it was an interesting idea and I enjoyed stretching my brain to imagine how society would handle it.

However, from there, it lost me a bit. As soon as the health club was introduced, I just decided to read it all see where it all went. I thought at least one half of the culprits were a bit obvious but the second one shocked me but also added to the unbelievable, fantastical story line I wasn't necessarily enjoying. I thought it was interesting the ending left an opening where it looks like this will be a series. I wish I'd liked this one more.

Until the Day I Die was my second Emily Carpenter read, the first being The Weight of Lies. I found The Weight of Lies was a slow burn and was anticipating the same for Until the Day I Die. To my surprise, Until the Day I Die was a fast paced page turner from Chapter One onward.

I enjoyed Carpenter's writing style, she kept me engaged and kept me guessing. Lots of twists and turns, some expected and some completely shocking, plus a satisfying ending! Would definitely recommend this one to psychological thriller fans.

This is a wonderful nail biting thriller that kept me reading through the night. Emily Carpenter does not disappoint she keeps the story moving at a fun pace and kept me glued to the story. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed

Erin Gaines has been dealt a lot of blows lately, including the death of her husband. With her daughter off to college and her business under attack, Erin is overwhelmed, and doesn't know how to handle it all...

I felt the beginning was slightly disjointed and I had a bit of trouble following along. However, as I stuck with it, it became difficult to put down and there were twists I did not expect. Overall, an enjoyable thriller! Thanks to the publisher for a review copy!

Like all of Mrs. Carpenter's books, this one was awesome, too. Loved how it was told by both the mother and daughter's point of view. If you're looking for a bit of a thrill seeker, this is it.

I have to say, now that I’ve read my second psychological thriller by Emily Carpenter, she is firmly cemented in my top go-to thriller authors. Until the Day I Die had so many of the qualities that I fell in love with when I read Every Single Secret, and at the same time was so unique that it felt fresh, edgy, and most importantly, THRILLING!!! From the slow build, to the immense distrust I felt, followed by the W-T-F is happening and who do I trust??? (The answer is no one) Emily Carpenter nailed the thriller genre once again, and I cannot wait to talk more about it (spoiler free)!

Grieving widow and now-single-mum Erin Gaines is handling things as best she can. But her best isn’t good enough for many of her friends and family. Erin is slipping a bit, showing a few red flags. But she is trying to do her best for her daughter, Shorie. Despite Shorie’s wishes, Erin is encouraging her to take her scholarship to Auburn and get a degree. Jax, the company Erin and her late husband Perry founded with four of their best friends, will be there when Shorie graduates. Maybe.

The thing is, Erin thinks it may be time to sell. Jax is a top-rated app. But without Perry around as the brains of it all, Erin isn’t sure it makes sense to keep it. They could all have a nice payday finally selling it off, and then work on the next thing. Shorie is devastated, because working on Jax has been such a part of her life with her parents and their friends.

I loved Erin and Shorie both in different ways. The thing about Erin is, she was hard to root for at first. She is so self-destructive. What is truly going on with her? Meanwhile, 18 year-old Shorie thinks she knows what is best for herself. But of course, the PhD in me was like “Get your degree, the rest will be there when you finish!” Shorie was honestly a bit selfish. But at the same time, I loved Shorie and Erin. They were a mix of brilliant and broken, which was so compelling for me as a reader.

When Erin’s friends suggest she go to a resort that is also a rehabilitation program, Erin will do anything she can to keep her daughter on track. So she goes. And this is where the story gets…WEIRD! In a good way! This resort is unlike anything you’ve read about. Everything from the workers, to the other guests, to the enigmatic owner Antonia were GRIPPING! I had to know more!

And perhaps the resort isn’t all that it seems. Erin’s first few hours there had me dropping my jaw in shock. Truly—I can’t say more about this because you need to read it! This is one of those delicious thrillers where you’ll have no idea who to trust. In fact, midway through I posted to Instagram that I distrusted EVERYONE. And I mean EVERYONE.

I am so thriller for readers to experience this twisty-turny story. It has all the “I can’t believe what I’m reading” from Emily Carpenter’s last book, but an entirely fresh and unique story.

This book is told from the perspectives of a mother and her teenage daughter after the loss of their husband/father.

The first half is mostly about relationships that aren’t quite all they seem . A fractious mother and daughter and friends who are also colleagues/partners . Can they be trusted?

This book is based around a tech company but is written so even a complete technophobe like me could understand it.

The plot and characters are superbly drawn out and the dynamics are interesting and thought provoking.

The second half ramps up the pace until it’s dramatic conclusion.

This looked like a great book, but unfortunately it was archived before I could read it. I will pay more attention to that before requesting.

Having just read The Weight of Lies I was looking forward to the new Carpenter book and it was completely different from what I was expecting. An enjoyable read for the first third of the book then veering off into different territory which really wasn’t necessary. Grief makes us do unimaginable things and make bad choices. Dark and broody.

I loved this book... right up until the ending. It seems like it will be set up as a series, but I was hoping for a little more closure. Great writing, compelling characters, fun story. Would recommend!

Not bad, but not that great either. Maybe a little too techie for me. The spa where the main character was sent seemed like such a stereotype it was farcical. Overall, a good premise with weak characters and plenty of cliches. Didn't finish this book.

This was not at ALL what I was expecting when I started it! Such a fun read. I had my suspicions throughout the story as to what was going on, and I was totally blindsided by the twists. I have never read a book by this author before, and I thought it was really well written and twisted (in a good way). Thanks for the ARC!

When Erin's husband Perry dies, she seems to begin to slowly unravel, wrapped in her grief. Her 18-year-old daughter Shorie is to go to college, so Erin agrees to to a spa resort Hidden Sands on a Caribbean island to regain her mental equilibrium. However, appearances are deceptive and there seem to be some suspicious dealings around Jax, Perry and Erin's tech company. Computer-savvy Shorie starts digging to reveal a few well-hidden secrets.
Although the pace was a bit uneven (slow-faster-slow), the characters are well-written and move the story forward.
I did enjoy reading this thriller and will be looking forward to reading more novels from Emily Carpenter.

Until the Day I Die has a very interesting premise. After Erin's husband and business partner dies in a car crash she has trouble dealing with it all. Her other business partners and in-laws convince her to go on a retreat in the Caribbean in order to relax and re-balance. However there is something wrong with the app her husband created and Erin's daughter Shorie seems to be the only one who has noticed. Was Erin sent away for a less than altruistic reason? Who has hacked their finance/banking app?

While I like the characters, although a little superficial and needed more development, there was not a lot of suspense in the novel. You spent more time trying to guess whether each new character you meet is good or bad. As a result the epilogue twist is not a surprise.

All that being said it is a solid story that just needed a little more focus and character development.

Until the day I die was a good book. Definitely add it to your read section. I wouldn't say it's a read now but a read. Not super fast paced. Slow burner. But good writing.

This was a thrilling book! I’d never read anything by the author before, so I didn’t know what to expect. But what I quickly discovered was that this book was unputdownable and a thriller like no other! I loved the idea behind the app program that takes center stage in this book - I wish we really had something like that!

This is the first book I have read by this author. I enjoyed this fast-paced thriller. I was quickly drawn in to the story and couldn't wait to get to the end to find out who done it, how and why! I didn't see the ending coming either! Love the cover of this book and felt it was very fitting of the island as I imagined it.

I tried to like it - I really did. It wasn't bad. It just kinda meandered around til the last 1/4. And then the great reveal at the end - I honestly had to go back and see who this character was.

Full of charm… an intriguing plot and the twists and turns throughout make for a satisfying tale… an engaging mystery with a menacing undertone and chilling atmosphere running through it… the conclusion was unexpected and satisfying… fans of Agatha Christie and MC Beaton should enjoy this… A superb and highly entertaining , and a perfect read for those dark, chilly nights.

What appeared to be an everyday thriller took a deeply sinister and disturbing angle.
Definitely one of those books that you convince yourself alright, one more chapter! Immediately followed by total exhaustion after white-knuckling your way straight through to the end!

She’s more than familiar with the inner-workings from top to bottom, thanks to her dads’ patient instruction and mentoring. But there’s a problem…now it’s time to go to college and put the business world on hold. Shorie can’t quite do that!
