A charming read! This book was filled with humor, surprises, and a great mystery! I really enjoyed all the characters, especially the dog! if you are looking for a lighthearted read with a well executed mystery, look no further.

Really enjoyed this story. The characters were so real and the setting was great. I had a hard time figuring out who dunnit and didn't expect it to be the one it turned out to be. thank you Alexis Morgan for this wonderful mystery.

I loved this 1st book by Alexis Morgan ,all the making of a good series .
Abby’s aunt Sybil suddenly passed away leaving Abby a house friends and a tenant also a mastiff dog called Zeke.
After a bitter divorce Abby needed a fresh start .
After finding a body buried in the back garden , Abby’s aunt became number one suspect and Abby needed to clear her name.
Loved the plot the characters are fun , I was suspicious would the killer was but it didn’t spoil the ending.
Looking forward for the next book with Abby .

Loved it. Abbey McCree appealed to me immediately. Her tenant even more so. The chief of police has potential, too. The culprit was obvious early on but the book was entertaining and pleasant reading. The dog is a wonderful bonus. Great cover! I am eager to read the further adventures of Abbey McCree.

Death by Committee is the first book in Alexis Morgan’s Abbey McCree Mystery series. The storyline is well written and the characters well developed and likable. The steadily paced murder mystery is a clean read, with a lot going on to keep readers engaged and guessing. This is an enjoyable read, and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Abby McCree discovered that Chad Ohler, her husband, was cheating on her, and then he tried to cheat her again during the divorce proceedings by trying to say she was nothing more than a file clerk in the successful business they built together. A smart judge saw through his lies, and she left the marriage monetarily compensated, but hurt and lacking in confidence. When Abby’s Aunt Sybil passed away, she left her home and most of her personal property in Snowberry Creek, Washington. She also inherited Tripp Blackston, the tenant in her small mother-in-law cottage, who paid reduced rent in return for doing odd jobs around the property, and her aunt’s adopted mastiff mix, Zeke. Abby’s working with Sybil’s friends Jean, Louise, and Glenda to organize and run the quilting guild’s garage sale and since her aunt had always insisted they have it there, Abby agreed to host it. The ladies volunteered Abby to fulfill the remainder of her aunt’s position as president of the quilting guild as well as being the temporary chair of the town’s Committee on Senior Affairs. While clearing out an overgrown blackberry patch, Tripp discovers a body. Gage Logan, the local chief of police, and his team identify the victim as Dolly Cayhill, Sybil’s archrival. Rumors fly in the small town, and some people believe Sybil and/or Tripp are responsible for Dolly’s death. Abby vows to do everything she can to clear their names, and while defending her aunt’s reputation was important to her, finding justice for Dolly Cayhill was too.

Death by Committee by Alexis Morgan is the first book in a new cozy series. Ms. Morgan is "new to me" and I was pleasantly surprised by this book.

I liked Abby McCree almost immediately as she was introduced in the book. She has gone through a crippling divorce and then her favorite aunt past away. However, she inherited her aunt's house and her dog, Zeke, in Snowberry Creek, Washington and once the divorce was finalized she moved in. Her aunt's friends keep her busy taking over her aunt's responsibilities because "her aunt would want her to do it". Her aunt's friend are really lovely secondary characters; but they can and do get pushy with Abby. It's nothing Abby can't handle once she learns to say "no". Her aunt's tenant, Tripp Blackston, is a complex character with a gruff and taciturn demeanor but a soft heart underneath. Once a body is discovered in her aunt's backyard and both her aunt and Tripp are implicated in the murder by town gossips, Abby is determined to clear them both.

The story is well-crafted with several suspects, red herrings, and twists that kept Abby busy. I did catch on to who might have done it by a small clue dropped about midway through the book. What I really liked was that Abby didn't do any real snooping but just listened as people talked and asked a few questions. She also related everything she learned to the sheriff. The reveal proved my hunch to be correct but it was still a little scary for Abby. I will be looking for more of this series.

This is an interesting first book in a what I hope will be a series. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, especially Abby, Tripp and Gage. I liked the two mysteries that Abby is working to solve (clearing her Aunt's name and what happened to the quilt guild's quilts) Abby doesn't do anything too far fetched in working to solve the mysteries which I liked. It will be interesting to see how the characters and the mysteries evolve.

Death by Committee is the first book in the new Abbey McRee Mystery series. The series is set in Snowberry Creek, WA. The author also has a contemporary romance series set in the same town.

Abbey McRee is recently divorced and starting her life all over again. She recently inherited her Aunt Sybil's victorian style home in Snowberry Creek. She moves in with her dog, Zeke. Along with the house, she also inherited her aunt's quilting group, a spot on the local senior affairs committee and a tenant, Tripp Blackston. When an enemy of her aunt's is discovered dead and buried under junk in a corner of the yard, suspicion falls on her deceased aunt and Tripp. Abbey is determined to clear her aunt's name and identify the murderer. It proves to be a dangerous quest!

All in all, a nice start to a new cozy series. The premise of inheriting a victorian home from an elderly relative is pretty tropey, but the story was still a fun read. I like Abbey as a main character. She's trying hard to start her life over after a failed marriage and endures the snarkiness of small town busybodies. Her pet mastiff, Zeke, is a great addition to the story as is her renter, Tripp and the rest of the side characters. The quirky members of the quilting group jump in to help Abbey investigate. Nothing like a feisty group of senior citizens to help ferret out a killer. The ending wasn't really a surprise, but there was enough twists, suspects and surprises in this book to keep my attention. I will definitely read more of this series.

The cover art is colorful and cute. It really caught my eye, and first drew me to read this book. :)

Alexis Morgan is the author of several romance series, even a paranormal one. I don't read the romance genre, but I will definitely read any cozies she writes. I like her writing style, the characters, background theme and setting for this new cozy series. Makes for an enjoyable, relaxing reading experience.

I requested this book because it sounded interesting, boy am I glad I did.

Unable to accept that her aunt may have murdered the woman, she sets out to find out who did.... and turns into the next target.
Wonderfully woven, with characters that make you smile and groan, this book was a delight to read.

The shock has just started to wear off when Abby is hit with another - the body belongs to her aunt's nemesis. Abby finds herself juggling committees, yard work, new-found pet ownership, and a mystery of missing quilts, along with the whodunit of who the murderer is.

The premise of this book is a good one and I started out interested, but by the 1/2 way mark, I was skipping pages just to get to the end to find out who the murderer was. The reveal was great, but it didn't save this book. Abby's burgeoning romance with her tenant was painful at times. It was interesting to learn about the characters, but none of them really felt fleshed out. Right now I don't feel the need to read the next book in the series. I received an advanced copy to read from NetGalley and the publisher.

Very rarely in cozy mystery does the absolute perfect mystery come along. Some are good, some are great, and some like this one are absolutely brilliant! I read so much of this genre that when a truly awesome book comes along and knocks my socks off I am always so happy! I actually finished this book and actually had to say out loud to my half asleep boyfriend next to me just how good it actually was!

Basically we have a perfect mystery, with excellent twists and turns along the way. Abbey is a great sleuth, and the romantic interest...well. I almost never care for the romantic interest, but this one grabbed me ;)

Definitely my favorite cozy of the year, and it's only the first in the series. If you only read one cozy this year or next, make it this one!

She hadn't made up her mind yet to live in the house or sell it when she gets talked into taking her aunt's place on the quilting group as well as on the towns Committee on Senior Affairs.

When she had goats brought in to clear a patch of overgrown blackberry bushes in the back yard, she noticed one chewing on a piece of cloth. When Tripp, the tenant, goes to see what it is he finds the body of Abby's Aunt Sybil's nemesis, Dolly Cayhill. The last time anyone saw her was at church when she had a public run in with Aunt Sybil. Now, Dolly's friends are saying Aunt Sybil killed her and had Tripp help her bury the body. Trouble is, just about everyone but Dolly's friends didn't care for her.

This is a first book of a new series by Alexis Morgan. I think this is going to be a really good series for cozy mystery lovers to read. I loved the characters, the story and it reads at a steady pace. I look forward to reading the next one.

Abby is adjusting to a new life when her tenant, Tripp and she began to clear a blackberry patch and finds the body of her Aunt's biggest competitor. The tale makes many changes as Abby and Tripp began to unravel Aunt Sybil's affairs. The villain is easy to recognize. I am looking forward to reading the next book. I highly recommend this book.

Abby, whose only close contact with the elderly has been through her recent conscription into the quilting guild, also finds herself chairing the town committee on elder services. In between all of the projects for which she’s been volunteered, Abby is trying to find time to go through her aunt’s belongings and to clear out the brambles that took over the yard. It’s the backyard that gets her into trouble; there’s a body back there. Since there was a rivalry between Abby’s beloved Aunt Sybil and the deceased, some friends of the deceased are spreading malicious lies about Aunt Sybil being the murderer. Abby sets out to prove her aunt was innocent and to avoid any additional responsibilities.

This was very entertaining. I enjoyed it greatly. I was vastly amused about the amount of trouble the quilting ladies kept causing Abby.

I have read most of Alexis Morgan's books and have loved them. This one is different as it is a cozy mystery. I enjoyed the book. It was slow in a few places but I liked the characters and the small town setting. Will read next one in this series to see what happens to the characters.

A bit of a slow start, but I ended up enjoying this read with Abby and Zeke and their trouble finding antics. Would have liked more insite o the guild and hope to see the characters develop more as the series developed. The ending was quiet fast paced and satisfactory in how the perpetrator got caught.

First, I love the cover. Cozy mysteries covers are so inviting and picturesque. The mystery is a decent read, even if it does drag on in some areas. Abby moved to a small town after the demise of both her marriage and her aunt. After a body is found on her property, Abby seems to sniff out more trouble than her huge dog, Zeke. Her hunky tenant is on hand to get her out of scrapes, along with the police chief. Add in a pack of old biddies to help spread malicious gossip and readers will be able to discern who the real killer is halfway through the novel.

Abbey McCree finds herself in Snowberry Creek after inheriting herAunt's home after her divorce. With happy memories from her youth and a fresh start find her stepping into a few roles her aunt had filled in the town, president of the ladies quilting guild and head of the senior citizens committee. But when the body of her aunt's long time frienemy is found in the backyard wrapped in one her aunt's handmade quilts, Abbey finds that some people think her aunt killed the woman. Since dead people tell no lies, or fact for that matter, Abbey decides that she not only needs to clear her aunt's good name, but find justice for the murdered woman.

With quite a few suspects but no real motives, everything seems to be linked to the quilts that the quilting guild ladies made. Soon Abbey receives a chilling warning from the murderer and agrees it is time for her to keep her hose out of the investigation, but it may be too late to back off and be safe. Luckily she's got a loyal and faithful dog and the support of her handsome tenant, Tripp, as well as that of the local sheriff, Gage.

As with any new series, it took me a few chapters to get fully immersed into the new characters but I found myself unable to put it down once I get into the story. So many potentials suspects, but it took awhile for things to full click into place. The characters and writing are solid and I enjoyed the first book in the new series.

Though Abby loved her grandmother she hadn’t seen her for a long time. When she died Abby inherited her house, alone with her grandmas elderly friends and a young and interesting tenant. As they were clearing out the backyard they discovered a body....her grandmother’s nemesis, and she had been there a long while. Abby is forced to defend her grandmother’ s reputation and find the real killer.
A promising start to a new mystery series.
