You Will Suffer by Alexandra Ivy is book Three in The Agency. This is the story of Ellie Guthrie and Nate Marcel. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Ellie is opening up her own Law Firm and working to make roots but something else is going on in this town. Nate is a retired FBI agent who steps forward to help protect Ellie and work to find out what is going on. Although Ellie and Nate are working towards their growing feelings, this book is surrounded by suspense and mystery. Really enjoyed this book and Ms. Ivy's writing.

YOU WILL SUFFER is a well written, very twisted (and with this I also mean in the minds of the original "bad guys") story with amazing characters that you will either love, dislike or downright hate. This is the third of Ms. Ivy's "The Agency" series and I hope she plans for many more.

It's been quite some time since I read this author and I'm so glad I discovered this book. This town had secrets from over two decades ago. The author slowly wove this tale keeping the reader guessing all the way. Just when I had an inkling...well I didn't see THAT coming! In the background putting in some light away from the darkness of death is the romance between the two main characters.
I loved the plot and the characters, brilliantly written. I highly recommend this story.

Small town life -- alcoholics, druggies, vandals, stalkers and -- killer?

After Ellie Guthrie graduated from law school, she relocated to her birthplace in Curry, Oklahoma, to set up a practice there. She's only recently moved and, in fact has still not even fully unpacked, when the trouble begins. She and her neighbor, former FBI agent Nate Marcel, are taken aback by all the recent deaths and begin their own investigation, along with a steamy romance.

Make no mistake, this is a mystery that is almost completely overshadowed by the love story. If I'd known that the sappy romance was such a huge part of the novel, I'd never have requested this title. The revenge plot is fairly thin and there's a lot of bloodshed over something that was revealed so late and thus everything that happened seemed like overkill. I've not read any other books by this author, but will probably avoid now that I see that the synopsis was a bit misleading. I read this in a couple of hours. I didn't care for any of the characters and never really got fully invested in the story line as it required me to buy into the fact that the people who lived in Curry were all pretty much dumb hicks and only Ellie and Nate were smart enough to figure it all out.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corporation for the e-book ARC to read and review.

Ellie Guthrie returned to Curry, Oklahoma and established a career as a defense attorney. Smart and sexy Ellie is attracted to Nate Marcel who is a former FBI agent. While she fights the attraction early on Nate determined early on that Ellie is the woman for him. As for the mystery, the plot was not what I thought it would be.. I would consider this a good book.

YOU WILL SUFFER is the third instalment in Alexandra Ivy’s contemporary, adult THE AGENCY romantic, suspense series. This is retired FBI Agent Nate Marcel, and attorney Ellie Guthrie’s story line. YOU WILL SUFFER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ellie and Nate) as well as first person (murderer) YOU WILL SUFFER follows the search for a killer(s). With a recent spate of murders and disappearances in the small town of Curry Oklahoma, local attorney Ellie, and her neighbour retired FBI agent Nate Marcel begin an investigation of their own only to find themselves in the line of fire. In the hopes of trying to connect the pieces of the growing puzzle, Ellie and Nate will soon learn about the mysterious past of Curry Oklahoma, and a group of well-connected and prominent people whose secrets are about to be revealed. What ensues is the building relationship between Nate and Ellie, and the fall-out as our couple’s investigation begins to reveal a dark and dangerous past.

YOU WILL SUFFER is a story of betrayal and vengeance; secrets and lies; power, fear, and control; mystery and suspense. A killer is on the loose in Curry Oklahoma, a killer who is determined to destroy those who destroyed their life. More suspense thriller than romance, YOU WILL SUFFER focuses on the clues-both the past and the present-and the victims whose ties to one another reveal a dark, sordid and dangerous history, a history that seeks revenge for sins of the father, and sins of the past. The cleverly written premise is intriguing and intense; the colorful supporting characters are numerous ; the romance is secondary to the overall premise

Having read the one before this one I found this series intriguing so I wanted to see if it continued. Yes indeed I received my answer on that. What starts out as two people who connect after some time of seeing each other around it starts to get some shaking up. Being in a small town you hear everything which is part of how this fuels it. Ellie gets to get the pieces and Nate starts to put them together but soon things happen more quickly with targets not just on her now on him too. Curiosity thanks to the writing giving peaks on who it could be drive you nuts so when things become to be revealed you are still really surprised.Ending nicely done with would go back for more.

3.5
Good premise, interesting characters and some nice twists but it did unfold rather slowly. The whole mystery romance thing can scare me off as I don’t want to read about a heroine cowering in the corner needing to be saved but that was hardly the case here so kudos to that. Ellie was a strong and smart character. Nate was a nice balance as well and they made a good team.

There are some clues that misled me and probably things I should have seen but didn’t. This wasn’t easily figured out so that was nice. Were some things a bit too easily or unrealistically figured out by the leads? Maybe? But it wasn’t over the top and still satisfied.

It was a sad story in the quest for power and money and how it ruins lives. To say that the villains end up paying is an understatement to say the least. It does wrap up with a happy although quite unrealistic ending but I wasn’t unhappy with the conclusion. I enjoyed this and would read more by this author.

Thank you so much to Kensington Books and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I did not know that this book was the third in a series but I didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not reading the first two. That being said, I wasn't a huge fan of this book. I felt like the author was trying too hard to make a mystery/suspense novel and some of it was just too over the top for me.

This book is centered around Ellie who has returned to her hometown and opened her own law office away from her controlling and high power father. When Ellie walks out to her car one day to discover someone has deliberately slashed all of her tires she finds herself spending more and more time with her next door neighbor Nate who she's always admired from afar but has never done anything except fantasize about him in her head. When more vandalisms start occurring and then a body is found every day in the quiet little town, Ellie and Nate must figure out who is responsible before they come after Ellie again.

I enjoyed the thought behind the plot and I did like the characters Ellie and Nate. I feel like they were well written and I liked the romance between them. But the suspense to this book was sadly lacking. No the ending was not a dead giveaway that you could figure out way ahead in the book but it also wasn't a huge shocking making you gasp ending.

This book was incredibly suspenseful and I couldn't put it down. I literally read until my eyes blurred to find out who the killer was and didn't fully see the plot twist coming until the very end. The heroine Ellie and the hero Nate had the perfect amount of chemistry that you were rooting for them to fall in love as much you were anxious for them to solve the crime. A must-read for lovers of a thriller with a touch of romance.

This is the 3rd book in The Agency series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone book. All I can say about this is WOW! It is mostly about Ellie Guthrie and what is happening to her and the town she was born in. She is a young lawyer who has moved back to where she was born in the hopes of getting out from under her parent's thumbs and making herself happy. Nate Marcel is a former FBI agent and her neighbor. And while the attraction is there for both of them, she backed off because she doesn't want a full on relationship with someone. But when things start happening to her and the people of the small town, Nate helps keep her safe.

I really liked this book! Ellie is smarter than can be but also knows what she wants in her life and is working to get there. Nate is moving on from leaving the FBI and trying to figure out exactly where that leaves him. They compliment each other perfectly, even when they are arguing! This story drew me in from the beginning and kept me reading and the twist with the end! I definitely wasn't expecting that!! The only thing that made me not give it a 5 star was there were parts that seemed too slow to me or unnecessary. Otherwise, I absolutely loved the rest of it! Definitely well worth the read!

YOU WILL SUFFER is the third book in Alexandra Ivy’s Agency series, and she’s proven yet again that she’s a formidable force in the romantic suspense genre. Retribution is one of my favorite plot devices, and protector/bodyguards are one of my favorite tropes. And as much as I love a great suspense, I love likeable characters. Attorney Ellie Guthrie and former FBI agent Nate Marcel are new neighbors in Curry, Oklahoma with an instant rapport and smoldering attraction. Someone’s threatening Ellie with a series of strange things—dead rats, slashed tires—and Nate is determined to keep her safe. Only, those threats are small in the scheme of what’s really happening in Curry. Ivy sets a fast pace, with compelling, robust characters and clever plot twists.

You Will Suffer is part of a series of stand-alone suspense novels by Alexandra Ivy. Like the previous books in the series, the plot is tightly structured with twist and turns that are tied together in the end. It has multifaceted characters that I liked and grew to worry about as the danger increased as the story progressed. Neighbors Ellie and Nate become involved as together they try to strange happenings then the secrets, the death and the stopping of them. It is much more mystery, much more suspense and much scarier thriller then it is romance. This is not a series that I read late at night by myself.

I said this before but it bears repeating while I am more familiar with Alexandra Ivy’s paranormal books, especially my favorites, Guardians of Eternity and The Sentinels. Still she brings her attention to detail, along with her ability to create a setting that seems to come alive in this contemporary suspenseful book. So real that the imaginary settings of these books become places I don’t want to visit. Curry, Oklahoma is now added to the list.

Intriguing plot with a red-hot romance. Throw in several dysfunctional families and town elders who are above the law and you have a scenario ripe for revenge and a dang good romantic-suspense book!

Ellie Guthrie has never felt like she fit in her parents world, so she left the high society of Oklahoma City, her judge father's cushy job at a top law firm, and her mother's prospective beaus and opened a law practice in small, rural Curry, OK. She is happy, but after a year there she has yet to unpack in her new home.

Nate Marcel was quite the renegade FBI Agent. He has mad skills and killer instincts and felt he was bullet proof, until he wasn't. In the hospital he realizes that this was not how he wanted his life to be, so he packs his truck and ends up in Curry, OK where he buys a small ranch and finds peace making furniture.

When Ellie moves in down the road, Nate is smitten at first glance. Ellie is too, but is not about to give anyone control of her life after she just got it from her parents, so she basically ignores him for a year. She is focused on her building her practice. When all her tires are slashed, Nate is there to help and insists she file a police report even though the sheriff is totally incompetent. Nate is going to investigate anyway. This is just the beginning of some serious problems for some of the good people of Curry. As the vandalism continues, bodies start turning up, supposed drug overdoses in a remote field outside of town. Nate and Ellie are convinced there is something more going on and that the deaths are somehow connected. As they dig deeper they discover connections dating back 30 years and that someone has a taste for vengeance.

You Will Suffer by Alexandra Ivy
The Agency #3

There’s a serial murderer loose in Curry, Oklahoma! Who is it and why are they killing? There is a mystery to solve before the killing can stop and Ellie and Nate may figure out who it is before the police do.

Ellie Guthrie has moved away from the big city to open her own law office and has been avoiding a “relationship” with nate Marcel for a year when their story begins in this book. He stops by again even though he knows she is independent and keeping her distance and he finds she does need help and she finally is willing to ask for it. Why? All four of her tires are flat – they have been slashed. A great number of things happen in this story and it takes some time to figure out who the killer actually is and what is motivating the need to kill. It was twisted and sordid and at the same time there thankfully was the romance going on between Nate and Ellie to keep things from being way too dark.

I am not sure how believable this book is but it was an interesting way to spend the day and I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington – Zebra for the ARC. This is my honest review.

3-4 Stars

I did not expect this book or the story that developed from the story. Intense, shocking, dark and so twisted. The main characters of the book made me cheer and scream for them, I wanted them to get together from the first but what happened and what they had to walk through was intense. Thank you Netgalley

I fell in love with the writing of Ivy with her paranormal books but have followed her over to mystery/thriller stories and I am so glad I did.

Ivy knows how to weave a tale. No matter the genre. But let's not forget that all her books have romance and she is one of the best at that.

Ellie is trying to figure out what is going on in her small town and with each step closer to an answer the closer she is to danger. I really enjoyed the interactions between her and Nate and enjoyed the background characters too. The mystery/thriller side keeps you on the edge of your seat.

You can not be disappointed in one of Ivy’s books.

Fantastic page turner from the first to the last. This is an intense thriller that will keep you guessing. I really enjoyed smart down to earth lawyer Ellie Guthrie and hunky former FBI agent Nate Marcel. This is a smart, action packed brain teaser that will keep you guessing. I really enjoyed it. This may be part of a series but can be read stand alone. I highly recommend this fast paced mystery.

I enjoyed this book. You can read this book as a stand alone. I didn't know who the killer was until it was revealed which makes me like this book even more. I love how Nate already knows how much he loves Ellie and wants to be with her, now it's just convincing her of that. This book has a great mix of drama, romance and mystery. If you like all of those things then pick this book up so worth it.
