Lone Star Protector is a well written romance. I enjoyed the plot, character interaction and the author’s writing. Fans of romance books will enjoy this book. I received an arc from Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

This is book two in the Calamity Valley Series. This book is about rescuing and restoring the town of Surrender and keeping it out of the hands of a shady developer.
It involves Lauren (who is from Surrender) who is trying to shake off the grandfathers curse and Mark who is being blackmailed by business associates of his estranged father. If Mark doesn’t do as they say they are threatening to hurt his mother and sisters.
Can this uncanny duo save Surrender.

I have been anxiously awaiting the second installment of the Calamity Valley series and I am glad I got it! Magical and mysterious vibes flow every which way and create such a cute and fun story. I loved the fighting female of Lauren MacKillop who is fighting her gift and, Mark Sterrett, would be villain, who is enmeshed in his own quagmire and family dilemma. The story threads weave together artfully and create a yearning for the third novel yet to come.

This is the second in the Mackillop girls series, with this book focusing on Lauren and Mark. The author’s writing style and the Texas setting remind me a lot of Carolyn Brown’s books. A large and quirky cast of characters surround our couple on their journey to finding love. I looking forward to the third and final book in the series!

After reading book 1 in this series I was excited to Tule Publishing and NetGalley allowed me an advanced copy of book 2 Lone Star Protector.

Lauren is the Mackillop that is set forth to resurrect Surrender in the Calamity Valley. Nothing is easy in these desolate towns, especially when a development company is dead set to take over the town and buy everyone out. Lauren is licking her wounds of failure and heads home, only to run into Mark at the airport. Both are not forthcoming with their true identities or their plans once in Texas.. Lauren is surprised to find Mark in her hometown, while Mark has a devious reason to be there and have Lauren in his sights.

With the numerous stories happening in this book, I found it to be a good read and adds to this series and the excitement for Pepper's story.

So its a good story, lauren is likable and relatable enough character wise (i found her a bit annoying though to be fair) mark is interesting enough if perhaps a bit too involved in well everything. There were a lot of characters what with the grandmothers, adoptive mother, the undertone of the gg's, then there was donaldson and frankie and the other 3 whose names ive forgotten which made the story at times a bit difficult to keep track of. Whilst the story flowed well enough it took time to deliever its punches.
Whilst an ok read- some will enjoy, i didnt particularly though i would read the others in series to see how they take off, i wouldnt read a second time.

I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

A clean cut romance about flawed characters , Mark and Lauren, that deal with life changing events that ultimately create a slow burned romance. Sadly enough, this novel just wasn't my cup of tea. The storyline elements and characters didn't resonate with me whatsoever that I just became bored 1/2 through.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this story was magical and historical. Both main characters were flawed but in the end did what they needed to do bring good to the town. This is a clean romance and I enjoyed it although I thought the grandmothers played a too heavy hand in the outcome of the story. I would have liked if Mark and Lauren got to really choose for themselves.

The second book in this series, this one is the story of Lauren and Mark.
Lauren is a Mackillop - seemingly cursed and destined to be single. She is back in town following the loss of her business in LA.
She has a chance encounter with Mark at LAX - neither of them admitting who they really are, but he already knows who she is and is out to find out more.
Can Lauren save the town from the property developer threatening her and can she break the curse?
