While You Sleep by author Stephanie Merritt is a beautifully written ghost story that is full of character and mystery! The feel of the book overall was awesome, I really enjoyed it! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of While You Sleep in exchange for an honest review. |
Fleeing from a bad marriage, Zoe Adams takes refuge in a house on a remote Scottish island. The fact that the house comes with a sinister history that includes the death of a woman and her son, and more recently the disappearance of a local boy, does not sway Zoe from moving in. But almost immediately, her peace is disturbed by strange noises and sinister occurrences. The locals would have her believe that the ghosts of those lost at McBride house are to blame, but do they have ulterior motives, or is Zoe truly living in a haunted house where she may be the next victim of the curse? A must for those of us who love intelligent gothic fiction |
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley with approval from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I’m deeply impressed! I absolutely loved the gothic atmosphere of the island and the McBride house; the sinister idea of living alone in a haunted house on the ocean that is isolated and steeped in history. I may have picked up on some of the clues that explained several mysteries a little too easily, but there were other twists in the story that still got me!! I would highly recommend this book if you like haunted places, gothic mysteries, whodunnits and a good thrill!! #Netgalley #GothicThriller #WhileYouSleep #Insomnia |
I honestly love this book!! I have about 30 pages left but I just couldn’t wait to review it! It has so many amazing little hidden messages. It is a little bit away from what i usually read but it made a lovely change. I’m very glad I got the chance to review it. |

I like supernatural scary stories, but While You Sleep was disturbing and depressing with too much debauchery. The whole book was dark from start to finish with nothing positive about it. |
