How...cute! The illustrations perfectly coincide with the charming story of Dot and Duck. Dot is trying so hard to have a lovely tea party but Duck is SO RUDE! In the end, they forgive each other and are friends again. I look forward to finding the print copy to add to our collection!

This is an appealing and funny way to help young children learn the importance of good manners. In this humorously illustrated story, Dot and Duck have a visit. The two are going to have tea together but Duck is never satisfied and behaves quite poorly. Dot's refrain throughout is "How rude!" Things get worse and worse, the mess gets messier, the phrase how rude is printed larger and larger... and so it goes. Finally Dot has her own moment. By the end of the book all comes together and both Dot and Duck have shown their better selves. The story resolves in a way that will entertain young children.

This book didn't hold our attention. I think How Rude! had the potential to be more than it was, and would have benefited from more dialogue. We see Dot becoming increasingly frustrated with Duck, but Dot never actually communicates her feelings. We always tell our children to use their words to express their thoughts and emotions, which allows us to have conversations. Eventually Dot snaps and does something rude, and Duck realizes he was being a terrible friend.

I think it sends a bad message to children, because the book is essentially telling them to mimic the bad behavior to solve their problems. Dot should have tried talking to Duck instead of lashing out. I believe this one missed the mark.

This gem of a book is a must-have in every home, classroom and library. It highlights one of the almost forgotten arts in our culture... manners!

Dot prepares a lovely afternoon tea and invites her friend Duck to attend the event. Right from time that Duck puts his foot inside the front door (which is by the way a muddy foot ) the sweetness of the event sours.

Duck displays atrocious manners: he throws his scarf and hat on the floor and demands that Dot hang them up, he puts his soiled feet up on her beautifully decorated table, he chomps into every sandwich trying to find his favourite, and he chugs water from the flower vase to wash everything down, just to name a few. How rude indeed! Oh my!

The final straw is Duck's behaviour regarding Dot's lovely tea cake. It is at this point that she loses it and takes charge. Will she be able to reign this uncouth beastie in and change his ways?

This delightful book has taken a valuable life lesson... using our manners... and shows little ones the importance of being kind, polite and civil to those they encounter as they go through life. Somehow it seems in our modern day culture those fundamentals have been lost by many people. If we can teach our children that manners matter and should be implemented they will display much better behaviour and attitudes, thus making them amazing citizens of our world.

The illustrations are the icing on the cake for me. They are humorous, quirky and perfectly enrich the text visually. I highly, highly recommend this book.

The story is simple and engaging. This book is very short, which works well with young readers. I know if I read this story to my two and a half year old son and really hammed it up, he would laugh at each "How rude!" Then he would say "Read again?" That is the best review a picture book can receive.

The idea behind this story is interesting. I like the style for the illustrations. Unfortunately, I think the treatment of rudeness is a little too basic and the lack of text will make this book read only a few times.

How Rude... by Clare Helen Welsh, Olivier Tallec is a book about basic manners. Told using a yellow duck and a small book, this book is a simple reminder of how manners play an important part in everyday life.

Simple things such as picking up after yourself when you enter someone's home, saying hello, and being a picky eater are all things we as adults know not to do, but sometimes children need a reminder. This book is a great way to get children to understand how simple actions can be perceived, without us adults having to constantly remind them.

This is a wonderful book for the preschool-first grade to read, possibly a guidance lesson as well.

This is only my 3rd book sent to my new Kindle. I must be doing something wrong because the formatting was a mess. The illustrations were adorable while the wording was simple and easy to read. Although, for children, I would have used a bolder font.
A great lesson learned. American children would easily understand "tea" but not the "biscuits". We call them cookies..

Cute story about how Dot invites Duck over for a few party. Duck does lots of rude things, and then Dot does some as well. Unfortunately, I felt like the dialogue/words to read were very basic. A child would either have to really recognize what was happening in the illustrations (which were sometimes fairly small details) or the reader would need to point out and explain why an action was rude.

It had me giggling throughout this book. I loved it and I know my nephew will.

I had such a good time reading this story to my 3 year old nephew. Cute illustrations and a story a child can learn from.

How Rude! is a very simple book about manners that young children will be able to understand. Getting angry over another's behavior is a natural response and I was glad to see that the author expressed that reaction. With whimsical and colorful drawings, the story is conveyed well with the illustrations. Young children will be able to understand the lesson they are being taught and parents will appreciate the short sentences that will allow their children to not lose interest. How Rude! is a book I would recommend to educators and to parents with young children.

Dot, a little girl, invites Duck over for tea. But Duck is a horrible guest with no manners at all. Dot gets more and more frustrated to the point she forgets her manners, and then apologies are necessary.

I like that this includes manners which are applicable just about any time. Some manners books seem to focus more on etiquette one must remember when visiting the Queen, but aren’t all that important if you’re just over at a friend’s house. Duck does things like dump his clothes on the floor, saying yuck instead of asking politely for some sugar, get crumbs all over the place, etc. Those are very relatable things for a little kid to learn. The illustrations are entertaining and overall this is a helpful and captivating way for kids to be introduced to manners through watching Duck do everything wrong.

is just apparently a light book to present to a kid, because substantially contains a lot of important messages.

Let's confess it: it happened to us also that sometimes some children ate all the cake we baked when invited; we were happy and joyous because they appreciated our baking, but maybe they exxagerated; they also drunk like cows, running out all the possible beverages and leaving us surprised and sometimes shocked.

What to say and what to do in these embarassing situations is not simple.

This children's book is amazingly funny.

Duck has been invited by Dot at a tea party.
Duck will reveal his real nature as a horrible guest, eating and drinking massively, pretty soon; as if he would be in his own house, or, I guess, worsew

Poor Dot doesn't know what to do but will sort out the problem as you will read at the end of this funny story.

Enjoy it, and present this book to all children; they will learn that when they are guests it's important to be educated and that eating and drinking too much as it would have said our grannies it is not a sign of education.

'How Rude!' by Clare Helen Welsh and Olivier Tallec is a picture book about rudeness and how it can escalate.

When Dot invites her friend Duck over, Duck is rude from the outset, not saying hello and tracking mud in to the house. Duck continues to be unapologetic for casting his coat on the floor and sniffing his nose at the food Dot has prepared. When Dot retailiates, they both realize things have gotten out of hand.

It's a pretty silly book that makes its point pretty bluntly. The rude behavior is pretty funny so kids might choose to emulate that rather than having manners. The illustrations are colorful and cute, and I liked this story about how we should choose to be polite.

Duck is transforming a tea party in a messy meeting because Duck is....rude. The illustrations are really cute, I liked the idea of look around us and care about others, even though the story is a bit too much in my opinion.
