I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Get for children showing signs of anxiety at an early age. Teaching them about their "inner voice" which can be negative and anxiety inducing.

A well written book about our inner self for kids to understand their inner voice, self reflection and how it helps us.

This book's mission is intended for little ones as they enter into pre-school and kindergarten years but is suitable right up to grade 3 and beyond. These developmental years are when children begin to build their inner small voice which helps them distinguish right from wrong and how they impact others. According to the authors it is one of the most important skills that a parent can teach their child.

It teaches children about the inward discussion that is going on in side of their heads and hearts regarding their emotions, sharing, being honest to others and themselves, starting and cultivating friendships, the handling of anxiety and the ability to step out of their comfort zone, just to name a few. Their conscience is a wonderful moral compass that is located deep inside of them and they can learn how to listen to it and respond to its direction. Children discover that it will direct their path and point them to their truth.

The illustrations are vibrant, crisp and enrich the text a great deal. The book is a beautiful catalyst for families to start a discussion about conscience and the back and forth internal battle that goes on as one searches for the proper decision to make. Carving out reflective times to mull over how choices are selected is very important through every stage of life. Both children and adults will benefit from reading and discussing why their small voice is such an important part of being a human being and why it is an extraordinary gift to possess. I highly recommend this book.

I’m not sure I’ve come across a children’s book quite like this before. It teaches an important lesson about the “small voice” inside your head and listening to your conscience. This is a must read for little ones.

This was a really well written book that covered a lot of different aspects of our inner monologue and how it's important to listen to that voice to help us through emotions and concepts such as sharing, honesty, friendship, anxiety, and more. There was a lot of topics covered in this book without the book feeling too heavy. I think it will act as a great starting point for families to talk about self reflection and thoughts.

I liked the concept of the book but felt like it was missing a cohesive story. I finished reading it feeling a little underwhelmed about it. I really did enjoy the Small Voice explanation for kids but I don’t feel it was developed that well. I kind of wish the book would have stuck with one story and that it saw it through till the end.

As a pediatric speech language pathologist, I work with all types of children that have challenges. Using literature to expand awareness and skills is a passion of mine. Small Voice Says is an excellent way to increase children's awareness of conscience and empathy for others. Written for young children, the words of the story are easily understood and the illustrations match the text and help comprehension.

I see this book being used by counselors, teachers, social workers and others working with children. Knowing what is right to do can be hard for some children to voice, but this book can start discussions of how your inner voice can steer actions to be positive.

Highly recommend this book! Thank you to the authors, #NetGalley, and the publishers for an advnace reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

Small children might not understand about the small voice we all have. That small voice that you have inside you, guiding you in the right direction with the choices you make. This book teaches children how to listen to that voice. The description mentions that the age for this book is pre-k and kindergarten, but I would even read this to first and second grade. I think it would yield a great discussion.

The Morrison's book, Small Voice Says, is a cute story about learning to listen to your conscience. The illustrations are cute and fit the story. There just isn't anything in the story or illustrations that makes me want to read it again. The characters were cute, but didn't make me like them. It was a cute story, but nothing more than that.
