This book was well written. I felt what she felt as I read it. I especially liked the story of the title, "Love you Hard."

Love You Hard was intriguing to me as both someone with a brain disorder, and as the wife of someone who has suffered from a traumatic brain injury. My husband was blessed in that his was nowhere near as bad as TC's. His was from a deployment and he had a helmet.
TC's TBI, however, came from an assault during a mugging. He was lucky to be alive, and even luckier to have a wife who was so fiercely supportive of him. There were times it became too much for her, but you can feel her love for him on every page.
It's cliche to describe a memoir as "raw" or "honest," but I'm not sure what other words to use. You can feel Abby's love for TC, but you can also feel the anger and and pain she feels as she grieves the loss of her husband from before the attack. She doesn't hold back in her honesty, even when she makes mistakes. Just as she tells of their triumphs, she also recounts her loss of patience, their arguments, and her desire to just give up. Those were the parts that made it feel "real."
Despite the fact that I cried a lot, I loved this book. It had a conversational tone, which I'm sure is from writing her blog. To me it just had the feeling of catching up with someone over a coffee. 3.5/5

Wow! The writing is wonderful. Not too many details, but enough to let you into the drama unfolding in their lives. The author writes with such vivid imagery you can see it playing out on the screen of your mind as their new life unfolds. The flow and organization of the information is beautiful.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC copy of the book. The opinions expressed above are my own.

By opening a window to her world. Abby Maslin has given us a tremendous gift, Her memoir is messy, emotional, and tinged with uncertainty. Her story is a reminder that the ordinary days we often take for granted.are never guaranteed. She takes us through the tragic events of her husband's attack and the physical and emotional trauma that ensued. Abby paints a realistic portrait of the trials and triumphs involved with being a caregiver. She bares her soul as she questions her ability to cope with the changes and responsibilities her new role requires. Compounded by the change in the dynamic of her relationship with her husband, Abby struggles to find her new normal. The story of the Maslin family is truly inspirational. Love You Hard reminds us what real love is all about.

I am not sure how to describe this book. The story was horrific yet beautiful. It's more than meets the eye...I read this is 2 nights and could not put it down. Abby did such an incredible job bringing their story to life and the amount of detail and guts involved made me feel a part of the story. I could feel her pain, I could feel his struggles, I cried through most of it because it was so raw and full of heart. From the crime to his recovery, I was on edge through this entire book. I am just in awe she was able to put this experience into words and truly be honest. Simply breathtaking. Everyone should read this book... Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What can I say about this book? It was raw and vulnerable and full of heart. It was both inspiring and real, both unimaginable and entirely relatable. In short, I absolutely adored it. It's taken me a long time to write a review because I honestly don't think I have the words to do it justice. It's not just a story about a horrific event, but about what marriage really is, in all it's trouble and triumphs. It's about finding yourself and having the courage to live the life you've been given. It's making something beautiful out of something painful. If I could, I'd give a copy to every person I know, but instead this will have to do. If you're a human living a life, read this book.

An inspiring memoir of love and commitment. Very early in their marriage, TC Maslin was the victim of a brutal crime which resulted in a severe brain injury. It is a miracle that TC even survived the event. The days and months that followed were extremely difficult not only for TC, but also for his young bride, Abby as she stayed by his side, while at the same time raising a toddler. The road to recovery was long and hard, and many times frustrating.
This memoir is a testament to a love that can survive even the most horrific things that life might throw your way.

Despite the fact that I made a resolution in January not to request very many advance reader copies this year, I found myself requesting quite a few the other day. Apparently, it's a problem for me to say no to amazing new books. I couldn't resist this memoir, the synopsis and the many glowing reviews. Abby Maslin lived through my worst nightmare, the fear that something traumatic will happen to someone I love. She lived through it and came out stronger on the other side. This was a gut-wrenching story, but so very inspiring.

Loved this read...with such a gamut of emotions. Cheering for TC while feeling sorry for overwhelmed Abby. Can’t imagine the strength it took her to get through each day. So happy that their love survived, thanks to TC’s determination and perseverance. This book is a must read for anyone who has a loved one with a traumatic brain injury. Many many thanks to Abby Marlin,, Dutton Books , and NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read this inspiring chronicle of the power of love and perseverance.

Love You Hard documents a touching story of a young family hit by tragedy. TC, Abby's husband, failed to return home one morning. He had been robbed and brutally injured. He begins his slow journey of recovery while more maladies befall the family- health concerns for both of Abby's parents. It was stressful reading this book, but nowhere near the stress on this young couple. They make it and TC even returns to the job he loves, but they realize each day is a new challenge. This book gives a lesson for everyone who has ever been impacted by TBI.
