I really enjoyed this book. It was like catching up with old friends 15 years later.
If you are looking for a book that tells you what is going on with Carrie, Mr. Big and the girls; this is not what you are looking for. This is about women dating after divorce in their 50’s and 60’s. Comical stories about online dating, blind dates and dating younger men. As I was reading this book I could practically hear the voice of Carrie Bradshaw, just remember she didn’t stop aging after Sex in the City.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I actually found this book rather boring. It felt like the author was trading on her past success with her past books and churning out something to bring in a paycheck based on her name. Or maybe it's just me. Not every book is for every reader and this one wasn't for me

As much as I love Sex and the City, both, the book and the TV Show, but I had a hard time reading this book. Partly because of my expectations as to loving Sex and the City, but mostly what I thought this book was going to be about, in my mind, another Sex and the City first book.

Not that the topics presented on the book are not relevant to our times or real but in my mind, I kept picturing these four characters I became to love so much but of course, not the same time, not the same book. Also, the writing on this one did not make it for me, finding the story a little depressing and boring at times.

Overall, an ok story but not what I was expecting.

Thank you Grove Press and Netgalley for the free advanced copy, in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw “Is There Still Sex in the City?”, I was excited and couldn’t wait to read it. I binge-watched the series (a few times) and just love the fun and, yes, slightly risqué lives that Carrie Bradshaw and her friends had. It was almost a guilty pleasure when I watched the episodes and that crew will always hold a dear spot in my heart even after all these years.

As I started reading this book, I definitely pictured Carrie sitting at her desk typing the words that I was reading and could almost hear her voice reading them aloud at the same time, just like in the shows. I could even hear the telltale music playing in the background. I recognized and loved the one liners of wisdom; quirky and humorous, yet insightful and inspirational.

Like when watching the shows, reading the book was an escape from my reality, and though this book was less comical, and had a taste of a personal memoir angle to it, it was still engaging, intriguing, and entertaining.

Know going in that this a “pull-no-punches social commentary” written by Candace Bushnell, and not a novel with more escapades of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda. Be prepared for funny tales of love, sex, and dating; as well as the pressures of marriage, children, and aging.

Fans of SATC should read this book!

I have to wonder whether I would have loved the first book as much as I loved the tv show, which brought characters to life. I'd like to think so. Sadly, though, as much as I wanted to like this latest by Bushnell, I found it shallow. Older women do have the same concerns as younger ones is the big takeaway but older women have much more money. And attitude, although it might be focused differently. This is non-fiction, which I think also threw me a bit but was actually sort of a redeeming thing (although I have to wonder even more about some of these people!). Dating and sex and appearances seem more important than anything. I get middle age madness but not some of the other "stuff." Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.

Is There Still Sex in the City? by Candace Bushnell is a collection of thoughts and remunerations about life for single women in their 50s and 60s. This book will have you laughing and then crying with moments of great humor but then sadness. Read and enjoy!

As many who have probably picked up/or wanted to pick up this book. I was a fan of the Sex in the City HBO series and the first movie, but as with the second movie, this book just didn’t do it for me. While what I did read is relevant in this day and age, and even to myself, it just didn’t hook me and the struggle to make myself pick it up was real.

I really wanted to love this book, especially after reading the blurb, but it just wasn’t meant to be.

“And there it was, the question that women were never supposed to ask when it comes to relationships. What am I getting out of it? Because who cares, right? Who cares what the woman is getting out of it as long as someone else is getting something out of her.”

I highly enjoyed this follow up from Bushnell and devoured it fairly quickly. A completely different composition style in comparison to the SATC original, this is composed as Bushnell’s memoir post divorce, living in The City that she loves but has outgrown and navigating the dating world as a newly single middle aged woman alongside her close group of also single girlfriends. The short stories and anecdotes she shares are both amusing and relatable (even as a woman in my early thirties) and she gives us a great overview of the hurdles and new obstacles (including technological advances) one meets as she returns to the dating scene which has changed dramatically since her last foray as a single woman many years earlier. Bushnell leaves us with an ending that’s unfortunately all too familiar amongst friendships groups worldwide, irrespective of gender and a gentle reminder to love your friends, hold them close and look out for one another even when everything seems okay.

This was exactly what I was hoping for! I wish the series would pick this up for dating later in life! Even though I am 30, I could still really relate.

I have read every Candace Bushnell book she has ever written. When I saw she had written Is There Still Sex in the City?, I pounced. Buyer beware this is not a continuation of the Sex in the City series, however this a delightful memoir from Bushnell that starts right after she gets divorced.

Being that I just hit 40 this year, I really understood where Bushnell was coming from. Her tales of singledom are just so delightful. I know Carrie Bradshaw is based off Bushnell, so it felt right to read this story and it did not feel so far off.

Bushnell breaks this story up into small chunks almost essay like and she does meander a bit, but overall it was just a fun read. This will make you chuckle, and you tear up throughout the book, but overall. This was a solid read especially for all devoted fans of Sex in the City, you will see a lot of where Carrie and her friends came from.

I will start with saying how excited I was to be given the opportunity to be able to read an early copy of this book. As one of many Sex in the City fans, I love the frankness and wit of Candace Bushnell. This book was a quick and easy read, but it felt really disjointed. More a collection of really short stories, which were only so-so, not a smoothly read novel. It was enjoyable, but I can't rate it higher because there as almost substance to it.

Thank you so much to Net Galley for the ARC for an honest review.

Who doesn't love Candace Bushnell book, TV series, and/or movies based on her Books? Now when I first heard the title I was hoping for more adventures with Carrie & friends but then i read the synopsis and I was excited to get to know a new group of women in the world of Candace Bushnell.

Bushnell delivers a great read giving us a look at being single again in the city after age 50. The book is written from Candace's POV in short chapters each one is a short story about Candace & her friends Sassy, Kitty, Queenie, Tilda Tia, and Marilyn. These women are fabulous and I'd love to see this book turned into a series.

This is a perfect quick read that I finished in 1 day, it made me laugh, and even cry. Definitely a must read for Candace Bushnell fans.

An interesting take on relationships and dating in your 50s by the voice of Carrie Bradshaw. I felt like the character was speaking to me, which is essentially Candace Bushnell. I thought it would be more introspective, but it was more anecdotal.

I really was looking forward to read this book as I am a huge fan of the author's fiction work. However, this just fell flat with me.

Thank you so much to Candace Bushnell and NetGalley for providing me with a digital arc of Is There Still Sex in the City? I also received a physical copy recently when meeting Ms. Bushnell in New York at BookExpo and I was incredibly excited to read this book. As a big fan of SATC I really enjoyed this!

Why yes there is! Or at least, we all hope, right? I never read the original SATC, but I did watch the hell out of the TV show. As someone who is: slowly (but quickly?) approaching 40, single, and childless, I did hear Bushnell speaking to me. She discusses all the new ways that we (humans) have to humiliate ourselves or the BS we put ourselves through just so we don't end up alone or even feel alone. There's "cubbing", there's the whole Tinder crap that, God help us all, is the worst of us in disguise. Honestly, as much fun as Bushnell or any dating app may make it seem, at the end of the day, it's all exhausting.

I may be that person dating after 50, or 60. Or maybe I'll be married. Or maybe I won't care anymore and I'll just have a lot of plants. Are we someone unless we have the love of someone else? I can't answer that, but I do think that Bushnell does a great job of letting her audience know that no matter what age, we are all still fabulous!

There are some TV shows we forget, and there are some that will forever live on in our hearts. Sex and the City is one of those shows that will always be a favorite. When you think of SATY you instantly think of Carrie Bradshaw. When you pick up this book, you will meet Carrie in her 50's. No Mr. Big this time around. The inspiration for Is There Still Sex and the City is based on Candace Bushnell's life in her 50's post-divorce. How are she and her friends living out their midlife journeys? Definitely not like your average midlife woman. If I had half the luxuries, these women do, I'd be happy as a fricken lark.

There are short narratives given by women who discuss their lifestyle changes, dating challenges, and internal strife. (shall I swipe left or right?) All in all, it was a light and entertaining read. Some parts mimicked the same bouts of worry and insecurity as Carrie and the rest of us. I appreciated her honesty with the subject matter, and I hope that she finds her happily ever after. But until then... What would Samantha do???

Thank you to Grove Atlantic and NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

This is a great book of you are a fan of the show and looking for some aspects of nostalgia. I enjoy Candace Bushnell's style of writing and wit. This is a fast and easy read. However, I just couldn't really get into the story. I found it to be rather depressing and cliche.

A new SATC book? Yes Please!
I was so excited to have some new material about some of my favourite fictional characters.
Sadly, despite the title and the book's description...that is not what I got.
Instead I got the author's notes on her personal life after a divorce and navigating her fifties.
Despite being written by the person who brought Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha to life...this was not good. I would go so far as to say it was even down right boring.
Thank you (?) to NetGalley and Grove Atlantic for my ARC.
