Each lesson is a short bit on a Biblical person and the quality of a leader. Some of the chapters include the same character but give another aspect of leadership as seen from that person. At the end of each lesson, there are some reflective questions just to help you think through what you have read.

The lessons begin with looking at various aspects of Christ's leadership while he was here on earth. How he related to those around him.

One lesson that I found most interesting was on Micah. I have read the book of Micah but the insights that he had of Micah as a leader helped me to understand that book just a bit more.

Thank you NET GALLEY

The best may pass from this life but their wisdom remains. He left us in 1992 but this book is still fresh and relevant, 10 mintues, 4 questions; I promise they will make you better.

I love reading books on leadership. This book was a great tool and Ray Stedman managed to capture the aspects of servanthood, mentoring and leading well over 40 different lessons. The insights and personal stories are excellent and because each chapter is relatively short (about 5-10 minutes long), and provides reflective questions, it causes the reader to be able to pause, reflect and spend some time with each “nugget” of truth presented. Great for individual study but would also work in a small group setting of leaders.

Ray Stedman on Leadership

As a pastor, this book has been very useful for my regular meditations. Over the years, Ray Stedman compiled many mini-sermons on various texts and subjects. This new book contains 40 gems of his excellent ministry.

The chapters take about 5-10 minutes to read and at the end of them, there are four questions to consider which all give relevance to the message that Stedman has written. This means that the book can also be used by small study clusters in church or coffee houses, allowing each reader to share their own experiences and reflections.

The chapters cover special moments in the lives of Biblical leaders and deals with both their successes and failures, as well as their struggles and victories. Stedman’s easy style paints a great picture of many characters and he adds some modern-day equivalences to each story.

Overall, it is an excellent book for ministers, church leaders, and group enablers, which is why I give it 5 stars.

Ray Stedman had a definite gift for connecting people with the Scriptures. This collection of readings demonstrates that although he passed away in 1992, Ray’s words and works remain timeless. Each reading is followed by a series of questions to help the reader probe deeper into what leadership truly is and how it is best accomplished. The information presented will cause many to come away with a different way of looking at leadership. This book is excellent for individual and small group study.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book that was provided by the publisher through Net Galley. However, the thoughts and opinions presented here are my own.
