This is the first book I read by this author. It's a nice romance novel that unravels quickly. Although I enjoyed the book I felt it was too fast-paced in regards to their relationship development. It felt more infatuation fast paced than a slow paced love where readers can slowly fall in love with the love story.

I really tried to finish this book so I could give it an accurate review however I did not find it capturing enough to keep me entertained to finish.

I could not put this book down!!! This was an emotional roller coaster!!! Loved the happy ending!!

The Other One was a different take on a rockstar romance.  Jessica met Daniel at a time when she was struggling emotionally with the loss of her fiancée and the love of her life.  She was depressed and drinking to make it through each day.  She meets Daniel one night at a hotel bar and she helps him to get rid of some groupies by pretending to be with him.  To keep the guise going, she has to go to his hotel room with him.  Her intent is to leave but that isn't what happens.  Later in the night, she feels intensely guilty for sleeping with him - like it's a betrayal to Nick, the fiancée she lost.  So, she sneaks out of his room and doesn't plan to ever see him again.  But, there's this little think called a positive pregnancy test after that.  She tries to reach out to him a few times but is blocked by his manager each time.  She decides his lifestyle isn't what she would want for to her children anyway and lets it go.

What Jessica doesn't realize is that she made more of an impression on Daniel than she knew.  He really fell for her and tried to find her again multiple times.  When they do find each other again, he's interested in pursuing their relationship and seeing where it goes.  At this point, he's unaware of any kiddos.  Once that surfaces, he's initially outraged that she didn't tell him and he then moves into "Daddy Mode" but he holds a grudge against her for quite a while.  Eventually he realizes he wants a relationship with her too.

I enjoyed the book.  I liked that it had a little different spin on the rockstar trope.  I do feel like Daniel was a bit spoiled and over reacted quite a bit at things.  I found it frustrating when Jessica had raised these kids single handedly for four years with only the help of her friends.  I thought he had a lot of nerve.  Most guys in his position would have been shocked that a woman wouldn't have been knocking on their door for money or fame, but he was pouting about it.  It just hit me the wrong way.  It's like he never appreciated what she did all on her own.

Eventually, I think Daniel got his mind around everything and gained a more mature viewpoint of parenting and being in a relationship.  I definitely was a fan of Jessica's and those little twin boys ...and a little more hesitant about Daniel.  Usually I am all in for the male lead in the book but I had a harder time getting behind him.  I felt like he let her down too many times along the way.  I did love the ways he reached out to her at the end....I don't want to share them in my review because I don't want to ruin the book.  I'll just say, he does redeem himself.  Give him a shot.

The whole "secret baby" thing really irks me! But this book was pretty emotional since both the hero and heroine are two  broken people. Jessica and Daniel's chemistry makes it hard for me to see them as an actual pairing. It was a sad and heartbreaking romance, despite it flaws, it was also beautiful. As for the ending, I feel a little bit of disappointment. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it!

Enjoyed this book. Kept me interested all the way through. Would recommend to a fellow reader.  Love the cover.

I received this book for free with a book review.   I love this book!  It did skip around a lot and was hoping the end would along the main character to was new pregnancy grow.

Oh my goodness!! I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this story. The Writing was brilliant and it flowed beautifully. Before I knew it, hours had passed and I realised I had come to the last page, that’s how much it consumed me, I can’t wait to read more books by Isobel Hart in the future.

I'm gonna start with what I enjoyed about this book.

The writing. 
Genuinely lovely. I liked it enough that the instalove didn't even bother me. It was descriptive without going over the top and easy to follow. The writing was definitely what made this book a page turner for me. Jessica's love for Nick was portrayed so well I cried for her, and I almost never cry at books. Her grief was deep and painful and so very real that I felt like I'd lost a fiance myself. I still feel emotional now.

The secondary characters.
All likeable. Except Nick's mother and Erika. (Though at times I kind of understood Erika's anger.) Deb was the kind of friend I wish I'd had when I was raising my own kid, supportive and patient. She was a sweetheart. The kids were adorable and precious and I wanted to hug them. I liked Martha. I wish she'd been in the story more. Oh, and Daniel's mother. She was the sweetest.

There were a few things I didn't like, too. The only issues I had were with the story itself and its main characters. The story seemed a little cliched at times, especially the end. It all just felt a little cheesy. 

Jessica was likeable enough but she sometimes came across as a little selfish and seriously indecisive. She absolutely could have tried harder to contact Daniel when she was pregnant (which she admits) but tbh I'd be a little disheartened too if I heard the father of my children laugh and deny they were his because he always 'wraps it'. 

Daniel was not a nice person at all. I did not like him one bit. He was waaaay too hard on Jess when he found out about the kids, even going so far as to suggest she wasn't a good mum to Bill... at least that was the impression I got. Like Jessica hadn't loved and raised his twins all by herself for nearly 5 years while holding down a nursing job. Also, has he never heard of contraception? Have neither of them heard of contraception? It wasn't mentioned once, despite them not being in a serious relationship for the majority of the book - it just screams irresponsible.

So yeah. I was mostly here for the writing and the side characters. I'd read their stories. And I'll definitely be checking out Isobel Hart's other books; her writing style is lovely, and hopefully I'll like the main characters more than Daniel and Jess.

I am a big rockstar romance fan but this book fell a bit short for me.  Dan just didn’t do it for me.  I had a hard time with that since I love books like this so much (which is why I requested to read). 

I was disappointed that I didn’t like it because it had potential. The story ended a bit abruptly for my liking and I felt cheated out of what could have been a good ending.

This was my first book by Isobel Hart and I liked it. I would be interested in more by this author. Would recommend

One never knows what one will get when reading a new author and I was very pleased with this introduction. Engaging characters and a beautifully narrated compelling plot, made THE OTHER ONE, a pleasure to read.

Nine months ago, Jessica Jameson, lost her fiancee, Nick, her ONE, to cancer. With the pain of him gone, the vitriol from his mother, who never liked her, especially after he left her his trust find in his will, Jessica would have thrown herself off the cliffs of Brighton, but she had promised him that she would find a purpose to live and love again. Instead, she has been drowning her sorrow in Talisker, at the local hotel bar. Not in the mood for the after concert party, Daniel McIntosh, lead singer for Scoundral, goes to the bar and is immediately attracted to Jessica. Although she just wants to be alone, she saves him from some groupies and ends up in his room. Jessica and Daniel have a unique journey to happily ever after. Their story starts in sorrow and ends in ultimate joy. Great read!

Talk about an interesting and emotional journey of healing this young woman Jessica Jamison had to go through.  She has such a loyal and forgiving heart.  One that is a true caretaker.
     You see she basically had no family except for her fiancé Nick who ends up passing from cancer after a year and a half.  She was there every step of the way loving him and caring for him.  She loved him so much she even agreed to move into the home of his mother who absolutely hated her.
     For Nick though, she would give him the moon.  He was her “One!  He made her extremely happy.  When he passed, she was distraught.  She had hit rock bottom.  Had not a clue how to get out of her own way.  So, it is her job to get things right.  But how?  He told her she would one day find her happy again.  Made her promise that she would not stop living.  Life was just two preciouses.
     The night she and Daniel meet she is deep in her nine-month funk but in her one and done night before their deed he tells his experience about Don.  They bond in their grief.  When they both cuddle and he falls to sleep she panics and runs out.
     The next morning, he cannot believe she is gone.  He had really felt they connected.  He needs to find her but all he has is that she reminded her of Jessica Rabbit with her long blonde hair and curves.  But with her talking in the bar about ending it off the cliffs he was worried.  He told the band manager he was staying on for a couple of extra days…
     Nine months later Jess is now the mom to two beautiful baby boys.  She tries for a third time to reach Daniel to tell him this time from her maternity bed.  Relayed through his manager to which she can hear he says he always wear protection always.  When she says to tell him it’s Jessica “Rabbit” the manager be rates berates her but says Rabbit but the guys all laugh, and he says he has no clue.
     She is hurt and angry and hangs up.  Four years later a chance meeting opens a Pandora's box.
     This was an unusual book in you go on this emotional rollercoaster with Jessica.  You start with her pain and the depth of her grief over losing Nick her fiancé nine months ago.  Nothing especially not herself seems important.  So, she hits the same bar at the hotel for the last month and drinks whiskey with Harry the bartender watching.
     On this night Daniel comes in Harry knows right away who he is but she has no clue.  When he tries to talk her up, she is rude and sassy.  All he does is start to laugh.  But when some groupie girls see him, she helps him out act like his girlfriend.  Very funny meet cute.  But as I said rollercoaster.
     But most of the time I wanted to shake Daniel.  I like him at the onset.  Then didn’t than did.  Rollercoaster I tell you.  I give this: 4 stars.  Provided by netgalley.com.

I really enjoyed this couple. The emotional and physical chemistry between them was explosive.  They shared a common pain between them that allowed them to connect on a deeper level. 
I admit that they both had some growing up to do which was part of the allure of them as a couple. Life is about the journey.
Jess' antics had me laughing - she was a little spitfire for the most part.  She had an inherent kindness to her that was reflected in just about everything she did.
Daniel was a bit back and forth - he seemed ever the petulant child. It was fun to watch him remove his foot from his mouth on numerous occasions 
The storyline flows smoothly and is pretty straightforward. There are a couple of gray areas that I personally would have liked a bit more detail on - such as the ex-fiances mom, his twin. I feel a bit more background would have been nice considering the importance of that time period.  The end is a bit rushed IMO, though that could just be me greedy for more of this couple.
The main and top supporting characters are well crafted and relating to them was easy.

Jess had received her inheritance a couple of weeks ago and that was why she drinking  in this hotel’s bar as it was close to her B&B she was staying at.  Misery turned out to be the best diet jess had ever tried. A guy sat next to her and tried to buy Jess a drink and she said she could but her own and tried to shrug him off. He made a comment and jess turned to rip  into him until she actually looked at him and her mouth dropped open. Than he said his name was daniel and he again offered to pay for her drink that she had just ordered. He said he was new in town and was just after some company. Than Jess realized there was some strong chemistry between them. Two girls came up to daniel and mentioned his show and than hit on him and wouldn’t take no for an answer so Jess stepped in and said she had been his first and had to teach him especially with his not so big package. For the first time in a long time Jess felt more than the gut wrenching grief. She was actually enjoying herself. When she tried to leave Daniel said your aren’t leaving and gestured how the girls- groupies-  were watching and took her to his suite in the hotel.  Than he asked Jess if she was ok and she said no and daniel said she had lost someone who mattered . than Daniel said he had lost his twin brother who had been on a motorcycle and a car hit him. Nine months ago and jess wouldn’t be alive if she hadn’t promised him she would go on and live. She often visited the Cliffs and wanted to end her life but she couldn’t break her promise. Than Daniel asked Jess to tell him about her loss. She did and said his name was Nick and they had met in Cambridge when they were both students. Nick had been the love of her life but got cancer and died. Daniel talked to Jess and told her how he got thorough losing his twin- Donny- and that it would get better. Then he kissed her , it had been so long and they had unprotected sex. Jess waited until Daniel was asleep and snuck out of his suite. Daniel went looking for Jess as he was afraid she had finally walked off the cliffs. Six weeks later Jess was still having flashbacks after her night with Daniel. Deb and her family set up suicide watches. Jess found out she had been with Daniel McIntosh who was the lead singer of Scoundrel- a very successful band she had heard on the radio. Than Jess found out she was pregnant but with twins. Deb was there all the way through it with her and she had two identical boys- Teddy and Tommy-  who looked like their dad.  Jess had tried twice to get ahold of daniel through his manager but never got through. The day the boys were born She had tried one last time  to tell Daniel but he had said in the background they weren’t his. Four years later-  Jess had trained to be a nurse when the boys were two years old. Than A very pregnant Deb took Jess to a Scoundrel concert and than got dizzy and was taken to the sidelines close to the band. Daniel recognized Jess and called to her as she left.  Deb was kept at the hospital as her blood pressure was high. The next day Jess went to see her and while there Daniel came in. jess tried to ;leave but daniel followed her and than talked hre to having lunch with him. Pictures were taken of them. Than some pictures were taken of Jess with the boys leaving school she had to tell Daniel but couldn’t get to him.
I loved this book and I didn’t want to put it down. It grabbed my attention from the first page and kept it until the end. I love Daniel and Jess together and the way they interacted together. But daniel did need to mature. I was sad when Daniel hurt Jess  . I did love the ending.o loved jess and deb’s relationship and deb always being there for her. Especially when Jess had had no one but Deb. I hated Nick’s mother no compassion for her whatsoever. I felt like I was there with Daniel and Jess. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

The Other One by Isobel Hart is not the typical rock-star romance.  Sure there is a rock star whose fame and partying gets in the way, but Ms. Hart adds more depth and dimension to her story.

Drinking heavily after the death of her fiancé and fighting the urge to end it all, Jessica Jameson meets Daniel McIntosh.  Unbeknownst to her, Daniel is a famous rock star.  The bar scene is funny despite Jessica’s dark thoughts.  Their one-night stand leaves a lasting impression on Jessica, if you know what I mean!!

Fast-forward five years, and the two meet again and so begins the drama.  The two main characters are well developed.  Jessica is an easy character to like; she is a bit victimized by her past, but she carries on valiantly as the perfect single mom to adorable twin boys.  It takes a lot more effort to like Daniel.  Sure, he is a sexy crooner, but he drinks and carries on too much.   Once he is reacquainted with Jessica and learns of their sons, he frequently behaves like a spoiled child.  He is angry, demanding, and self-centered; he wants his “family” but not in a giving, protective way. Jessica is a saint through much of his bad behavior, but even she has her limits of what she will tolerate.  

Harry, the wise bartender, and Denise, Daniel’s mother, are fantastic, lovable secondary characters who provide much needed nudges to both Jessica and Daniel.  They give much needed perspective and support through Daniel’s self-serving lashing out.  The emotional specter of Nick—Jessica’s late fiancé—was a little overplayed for my taste.  Six years later, she is still describing him as “the one”.  The plot is fairly well paced with ample time to suss out the characters.  While readers can safely assume a happily-ever-after ending right from the start, Ms. Hart provides a unique journey there.  I loved the final scene in which readers get the title tie-in.  It is a bit melodramatic, but it is also sweet and sentimental.   The epilogue provides a few laughs and sweetness as well!

I think I was expecting something else based on this description... I was somewhat let down. The book was just average, and I couldn’t really connect with either character. All in all, I probably wouldn’t recommend.
