Shades of Betrayal is the third book in the series. Although I did not read the first two book I was able to read this book as a standalone.

For me, I had a hard time getting into the book as I felt it had too much of an erotic substance to it and not as much mystery as it alluded to in the description.

That being said the characters I felt were well written and I enjoyed the twists and turns surprising me at the end.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series, and I breezed through this one just as quickly, I found the story to be quite lacking here.
The whole thing was basically about sex and feeding and insta-love. I feel like the writer threw in a random stalker/murderer into the mix just to spice things up a bit and to have at least a little excitement besides all the relationship drama.

While I did like that Ashley is fierce and sassy, I just couldn’t connect with her the way I connected with Becca. Same with the boys, Michael just felt like a watered down and even douchier version of Lochlan.

What more could you ask for? Characters you love .. intriguing story line, plenty of excitement, some romance, I had a hard time putting these down. I'm now waiting for the next one .. This author is very detailed and I, for one, really like that.

This is the third is the series and to be honest while it can be a stand alone I think I would have had a better understanding if I had read the other books first. And this is the first I have read from this author.

This was just not for me. I enjoy romance and I enjoy adult content books but this was like watching a porn with no storyline. Seemed they barely said hello and bam they are sleeping together. There is no background story for the most part.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Shades of Betrayal by Jill Ramsower is an enthralling read. The story seems to ramble yet is hard to put down. The characters are fierce,, focused and yet comfortable and fun as well. So many characters each lovingly unique with interesting back stories and interconnections. Watching Ashley work through her new life and develop her powers was both wonder outs and frustrating. Michael is charming, inexplicable and fascinating. Together they are explosive and complex just like all good relationships are whether friends or more. The twists and turns kept me guessing through the entire book. Highly recommended for adults.

I really enjoyed this, the book keeps you hooked from page 1. I hadn’t read the previous two books but that wasn’t an issue at all, I dove straight into the world and didn’t feel out of place. The characters are well written and likeable, the book flew by and was sad when it ended, if any criticisms it was felt a bit short and I’d have loved it to go in longer.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Thank you NetGalley and Jill Ramsower LLC for this arc.

Shades of Betrayal has received decent reviews here and on Goodreads and I looked forward to reading it. It's classified as a mystery/thriller, romance and several reviews mentioned the steamy romance.

I'm no prude and have nothing against some soft porn in my mystery stories. There were also fantasy elements hinted at in the beginning (fae) and honestly I expect some soft porn in most fantasy books.

But there was NO story at all here, at least not one I could find! The big mystery to me is how could the sexual fantasies go on for over 300 pages and keep anyone's interest?? She baked cookies that her dog wouldn't eat so instead she passes them on to him? Hoping to what?? The fantasy / paranormal elements basically boiled down to the fae needing to feed off of someone else's sexual release in order to develop / restore their own power?? For over 300 pages???

I admit I got really bored around the 50% point and started to skip 15-20 pages and then read for 15-20 pages, wash, rinse, repeat just to get to the end of this. Maybe I skipped the good parts of the story, but the following 15-20 pages should have at least referred back to the story..... I never found that.

Shades of Betrayal by Jill Ramsower was a first of its kind for me! It was a very interesting! The love between Ashley & Michael was intense. This story of love/hate romance was beautifully written.

The only con about this book was that I wish that we could have seen more action in this book, especially with someone like Ashley.

Overall though this book was amazing! So be sure to check it out! I will be checking out the previous book!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to read this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book more than I expected to; being introduced to another world of the Fae. Not having read the previous two books in the series I was a little bit lost to how Ashley became Fae, but it was explained early on successfully.
The two main characters Michael and Ashley are easy to like, (their chemistry off the charts) and their motives for their actions explained during the course of the novel. Without giving too much away, this urban fantasy is a light, fun, sometimes sizzling read which will leave you wondering how the rest of the series will play out.
3.5 stars.
